Hello there, I got my job back just recently and I have to deal with my boss again. Since I'm a re-hired employee, his expectations for me is very high. But he's a tough boss, a very "hard to please" one. I know that that's just his way of motivating people, that he just want us to improve but sometimes his words gets to my nerves. I'm only human you know I get hurt from time to time specially with sharp words. Right know, I'm trying to keep in mind that he's just motivating me and it's nothing personal. I have to deal with it because I need the job so can anyone advice me how to deal with my tough boss and how to survive each day in the office? thanks so much.

If you think that his criticism is not taking you personally and he is not hitting you below the belt, just accept it in a positive way.You can use it to improve your work to be a better employee. When I still was working,we often times scolded by our manager. After our working hours,we come out sharing the things that had happened during that day and sometimes laughing at our mistakes.

If you know yourself pretty well, hurtful words from others won't get into you. Just focus on your work and the things that you do and don't focus on the emotions. Work within reason and don't let you be beaten down by surge of emotions. If you mixed emotions with work, then there will surely be a problem. Always work professionally and you will be surprised that even those negative treatments will be turned into something positive. What you are doing is on the right track. You should look at the harsh treatment as a challenge and not as something that can attack and deteriorate your motivation.

There is a saying that a person doese not choose his boss, you have to deal with your boss without pay for the attention of his ethics. And you have to ask our self a question is your boss dealing with all employees the same way, If yes so that is your problem. And you should note, other transaction with him, and try try to learn from them.

I admire you for having he positive mental attitude. Having this is a key to success, according to some. Sharp words irritate me but as long as it's bearable and he does not exceed the limitation with ethics and just concern for your work it's still fine dealing with him. Start your day with a prayer for you to survive each day dealing with your tough boss and ask God to touch him to change a little.

First rule: Respect who's respecting you! Because it's not an excuse treating you badly just to "motivate" Secondly: Be critic! Always appreciated Third: Don't think with fear, it will not keep clear your mind and the other people will not respect you. The more you do it the best you'll get

I guess you're right about thinking with fear as I always get "mentally blocked" whenever I will approach and report to my boss. Thanks for bringing it up and I will try to practice that

First of all applause to you. you said you are taking your boss sharp words as motivation. It shows your confidence. Ok here we go. Smile in the face will make anyone to respond you the same means what we show is what we get. Keep the smile in your face always but not as much as Teeth visible. Accept everything as Recycle bin and Empty it as soon as possible if it hurts you lot means forget :). Never reply harsh to your boss when He/She is on the same track :). Life will be good.

The best thing is to try and keep to his expectations. Do what he wants you to do as much as possible and avoid crossing lines with him as much as you can.

It's hard situation. There are many person had faced this situation as you but they can face it. As they can face their tough boss, I'm sure you'll be able to do it too. You only have to become tougher, have stronger heart and have positive thinking for whatever he said to you. Just taking his good advise from his bad words and left those bad pain from his bad words will make you stay more comfort in working there. From your words above. I saw that you had known his characters so you will be easier to face and adapt all of your boss habit. You can do it and defeat your weakness. As long as your boss give you good effect for better characters development, working there is not so bad choice to do.
