Another Cruise ship incident?

I heard on the news today that a sister ship to the Costa Concordia (The recently holed and capsized Cruise Ship in the Mediterranean) suffered an engine room fire and was reportedly adrift..Yikes! Had you heard this? Would these incidents change your attitude towards cruise ships (Or this cruise line!)?

My goodness. I wonder if this company is going to be around long. How many people are going to trust them to go on a cruse. Yes, it sure changes my attitude. I am afraid the water anyway and this just makes it all worse.

It definitely seems to be a lot of issues on cruise liners lately...although with this incident I would also look at this particular cruise line's maintenance crew...I mean one boat gets a HOLE in it (one of the major things maintenance is to look out for) and now another has a fire in the engine room...who are these guys again??? lol

Well, the hole thing with the first ship wasn't really a maintenance issue..that ship was apparently deviated from it's set course and got holed on rocks the Captain wasn't expecting to be where they were..but hopefully nobody was hurt or killed this time around..

I have to say that I probably would NOT be going on that line... but considering how many cruise ships are out there and how they go out all the time, I probably wouldn't worry about other ships... just not that line, because they are obviously not taking care of their ships...

On the one hand, a cruise does sound all nice and romantic, but on the other hand, you are trapped on a ship with no means of escape if something goes wrong. Yes, there are life-rafts, but they are far more dangerous than being on a large ship, and obviously if you have to get into one of them, then something has gone wrong with the large ship. So I am not sure that I would want to take a cruise, especially not a long one, and these recent happenings only confirm my fears. Another thing that I have heard about cruise ships is that they do not have proper medical facilities. I have seen horror stories on television about people getting sick on cruises and dying or ending up seriously ill over something that should not have been that bad if they had gotten proper medical treatment as soon as they got sick.
