What would you do without the Internet?

What wou;ld you miss about the Internet if it was no longer available? If we did with out the Internet could we do with out mobile phones too? No-one seems to chat propperly to anyone anymore. It has to be through social sites, email, messengers, sms text. Oh how difficult our lives would be (sarcastic sigh). It's "I'll email you" or "FB me" "text me", goodness sakes. Its OK for long distant friends or family, but the same person in the same room as you? How ever did we survive in the olden days with out Internet and mobile phones. Would life come to a stand still?......err let me think.....no. We are bring up the next generation to be to fixed to screens, whether its consoles, internet, mobile phones, a lazy society with an ever expanding waist line. Hahaha now I sound like a hypocrite by sitting infront of my computer screen writing this!

If I had to live without the internet I would have serious withdrawal symptoms. I guess that's an indication of addiction. The times when I temporarily lose my internet I walk to a public library so I can spend time online. It's important to me. I need the internet for work and I like to connect with people socially via the internet. I guess if I had to I could go back to writing snail mail and having it delivered via the US postal service but I would probably cry every day. :)

At my age, Ive still spent most of my life without internet or mobile phones. It probably wouldn't hurt me too much to remove them from my life, however everyone gets used to using 'New Technology'. Text messages or twitter tends to make people lazy, especially when the recipient is in the same room, however it does help people maintain friendships at a distance. For instance I have no contact with anyone I was at school with, whereas both my children are in contact with many ex-school friends. Personally I don't see the need to be in constant communication with everyone, or for that matter to let everyone in the world know what I had for lunch yesterday (actually it was fish and chips in a 'Two for One' restaurant), and I can't understand why anyone would be remotely interested. It's possible that forthcoming solar storms could interfere with internet, mobile phones and satellite television, (see BBC2 programme Horizon on Tuesday night) so we may all have to get used to talking face to face again for a while.

I think I can survive without the internet even though i will miss it. I was able to live without it half of my life. This is where the age of DOS computers, snail mail, long distance calls, encyclopedias came in. Though the internet made communication much easier. I think life can go on without one. But of course people will need to get a hang of living without it again.

I could still imagine that. Of course I am already 28 years old and I still imagine the time that internet is not yet existing. Probably when it is summer time I am playing with my playmates when I was a kid then if not I am creating something or I am doing an art related activity.

I must admit that im too dependent on the internet nowadays. Without internet, you'll probably see my hanging with my friends in the malls window shopping or not at all because I'll be at home reading books most of my free time when Im not at work.

I use the Internet for working online and also for my schooling. I know if the Internet no longer existed I would be losing money and would also not be able to get my schooling done. I think that all future generations will be using computers in school and also at most work places. I know that there will be jobs that do not require a computer, but I think most jobs will end up being online only.

If there would be no internet then I'm still a TV junkie! Perhaps, I'll waste my time reading books and watching some television show.

I would definitely miss the chance to communicate a lot with my loved ones who live on the other side of the world. But otherwise i would just go back and do what i did before internet... call people on phone, meet more of them personally, read books and newspapers...

Hi Lisona, Welcome to myLot! D'you know I think I'd feel as though my right arm had been cut off if there was no such thing as internet anymore....I'm also dependent on my mobile phone a lot too but the internet, I'm lost without. Pretty sad when I really think about it! Thing is, we did manage years ago, we even had to manage when there was no power, no running water, gosh I could go on.....but we have become accustomed to all of these modern pieces of technology in our lives on a daily basis now it seems hard to imagine life without them. I do agree with the using technology to keep in touch, but seriously....using it to communicate with someone who's in the same room as you?!! I've never done it, and would find it quite funny (albeit extremely lazy!) if someone were to do that to me. I wouldn't be long telling them off! IrishGal77 :)

life would really stand still even there is not internet. if we look in the past, they don't have internet but they survive. just a realization, we feel hard to live without the things that we usually use nowadays because we consider them as a need to survuve, however they are just luxury of ours. we can still live without this gadgets and things like internet however not as easy as today. :) as of now, not all people have access in the internet, and i can see them that they will live easily even without internet because internet don't became a part of their life anyway.
