What has been your experience with counseling? Do you that it has helped you? There's counseling literally for about everything. Counseling for grief, for abuse, for marriage, etc. I think counseling does help. Especially when a person applies what they learn to their benefit. Even if they are the only one applying counsel with for example their children or for their marriage. I just wish counseling didn't cost so much. Mylot is my counseling, lol. Where I can talk about my problems and get awesome suggestions.

I've had a therapist for many years and it's been amazing. I apply all of the suggestions he has given me and it has truly changed my life. It helped with every aspect of my life. Has made my marriage stronger and all of my relationships better. It is hard to apply some of the suggestions but once I did everything got better. I know how I want to be treated now but everyone in my life. I don't have a hard time with telling people what I will tolerate and what I won't. I am very open and honest now with people. I don't have that fear anymore that I won't be liked when I have an opinion. I was always afraid of what people thought of me if I didn't cater to their every whim. I do what I can for people and don't feel guilty when I can't help out. It is truly amazing. I got rid of relationships that were toxic and causing me to much stress. Some people don't like it but I can deal with that now without the guilt. I think everyone should have a therapist. It is someone who can give you honest feedback and help you handle situations you are finding difficult. It has truly changed my life and I've very thankful I have someone in my life that is concerned for my well being.

I'm so called that having a therapist has made such a huge impact on your life.It is nice to have someone be concerned about our well being. It helps a great deal. I'm sure that for others has well having a therapist has changed their life and the way they look at things. Perhaps some day I will have a therapist. I have been dealing with so much in my life and at times I just don't know what to do about it or how to handle it. And it would be nice to have someone on the outside looking in. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I appreciate it so much.

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with me I really appreciate it. I agree that having a good friend to talk to is a lot of help. I'm working on this as well. Sometimes it can be difficult as I don't want to feel like I'm causing others to side with me or to be biased. That's why I'm so thankful too mylot and similar sites. It allows me to express myself without causing others to feel like they are taking sides. But I'm thankful that I have genuine friends that I can also talk to who understand my situation and who do their best to support me.

If it's not possible to have a therapist right now. Look at your circle of friends and see if there is someone whom you can confide in and talk to. Sometimes just having a good friend to talk to works. One thing that works for me as well is researching things online. Finding out why people are the way they are. Why they do and say the things they say. They are lots of ways to get support without having a therapist.

yes I have experienced it myself my first time ever going through counseling and after several sessions I started to see the result I too don't have that much money, so every session I made the best of it just pour it out and listen to what they suggest and follow it

I'm glad that counseling was beneficial for you. I think that it helps a lot of people. It just takes for a person to see results and to be satisfied with the progress they are making. That is a good thing that you did what needed to be done so that you didn't have to spend a lot of money going back.

Well it can be, if the person doing the counseling does know what they are talking about. And that does lead to a bit of the problem. There are many would be counselors who try to deal with problems that are a bit beyond their depths. It is all well and good where people are trying to help. But there are times where the advice of people tend to really go down a bad path, where it is not helpful at all and it does more harm than help. Of course, realizing that advice is not for everyone can really help a lot for sure. There are just going to be many times where counseling is for some but it is not for anyone. Many people tend to listen to advice, but when it comes time to actually apply it, they really cannot make that next logical step to properly apply the advice. Therefore, they are just right back to square one with whatever they are deciding to do in life. But sometimes an added perspective might be needed, yes.

Yeah it's good to have a counselor with experience and who knows what they are talking about. It does make a huge difference. You are right that some counseling isn't good. And for a person to know whether or not they are receiving good counseling is a helpful factor. To benefit from the counsel a person definitely has to apply it. It can be difficult to apply it but it is well worth it. And it will save a person time and money the sooner they are able to put things into action.

I have been in counseling especially during school days. I am not going through the details but then it is beneficial that gives me a peace of mind. At least I don't need to pay anything. But then I still have the feeling of being ashamed of myself that I feel I am a weak person who needs counselling.

I'm glad that you don't have to pay for counseling. Don't feel ashamed about needing counseling. I'm sure that we all could use counseling in some form or another. It's just the majority of people don't want to admit that they could use some counseling. It does help. I hope that perhaps some day I will be able to afford counseling. It's not that hard for me to admit when I need help. Thanks so much for sharing with me.

In my opinion, counseling is beneficial. Sometimes we need a stranger to view our problem without bias. These counselors' services are expensive because they have to study and be really trained to deal with emotion and how the human mind perceives things. If the counselor is untrained, it can lead to serious emotional damage. You are right about Mylot. Its a place where we can find willing listeners who voice their opinions.

I agree there is so much studying involved when it comes to being a counselor. They have to learn a lot to help others deal with their problems. Unfortunately a lot of people who need to see a counselor don't have the resources to see one. I do like mylot. I'm so happy that I was able to find such a great place to talk with others and hear what they think.

In several occasions, counseling is good. In the education field, the counseling with the children is good to know about their abilities. We can clear their doubts and understand their mind. Some students are very moody but after counseling they are getting fresh. Financial counseling is also another thing. There will be a financial counselors everywhere. They will help their clients how to do the financial planning. Have a nice day.

I agree that counseling is helpful for children as well. There are so many young ones who are dealing with so much. A lot of the time they feel scared to open up about things but it is good for them to talk with others about what they are feeling. I agree to that financial counseling is great. I can always use more advice on finances or how to save. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me.

Definitely! Counseling is so beneficial! It will help us unload what we feel and what's inside that bothering us! I haven't been in a counseling but in our school we had this kind of activity. It is our confession for the mistakes we made. I can also share my problems in some online forums.

I love the fact that I can come to mylot and other forums and really express myself. And it is wonderful to get awesome feedback from others who are genuine. Who aren't trying to make a fortune off of asking me questions. It is such a huge relief. I wish I would have found mylot earlier. I have family and friends that I think would benefit from counseling because they really could use the help and encouragement but the price itself is a killer and keeps them from going.

Personally I don't believe counseling is beneficial. If that would be the case not so many people are having counceling for 10 years or longer without any result! It's just a great way to make money out of people who have nobody to turn to.

Yes I agree with you that there are a lot of people trying to make money off of others this way. Especially with the media, talk shows, and books. I do believe though that for people who are sincerely interested in changing their life ,doesn't have to be anything drastic as long as they apply what they learn it can benefit them. Just as I feel changing our habits can be beneficial for us in the long run.

It helped a lot to people who are in crisis.Seeking for advised to an expert who really knows what went wrong. One of my subject is about psychology and I learned about how to alleviate stress and when does stress came from. People who seek advise is not literally having a hard time of their life. Its also give some uplifting feeling when someone who's there ready to listen your heartaches or just want to unleash your emotions. You need a support in order to balance life. Without altering your daily living.

Yes I think that people who seek counseling will have better options of how to deal with their life and situation. I'm sure that taking a psychology class would be interesting. Having someone to listen to our problems when we are having a difficult time is a helpful thing. A support system is a very good thing to have.

I have never had a need for counselling, thnak god and I hope I don't need it either. But, I feel that counselling does help a lot of people. It can make them understand their situation better and also helps them figure out what is best for them and helps them make choices but I agree it is costly. Anyways, mylot is defintiely a nice forum to share your problems and feelings and get advice from others...

I'm so glad that you have never had the need for counseling. I do agree that it has helped a lot of people to deal with their situation. So many people have unbelievable things going on in their lives. And to have someone to help them with that is a great help. I can't even begin to guess the cost but I know it is up there. That's why I love mylot. It is such a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. It's like writing in a journal, except you get wonderful people to comment back, and you earn a little.

I've only experience online counseling, but it was very beneficial. Everytime you talk about a problem with a person that is more experienced than you you only have to win.

I agree that having spiritual support is very important. This allows a person to have strength and help from God who can help us to deal with what we are going through. He knows everything there is to know about us and how to keep. It is important we trust in him. Reading the Bible and taking in his thoughts and feelings on matters will help as well.
