but I saw pictures of Angelina Jolie at the Oscars and was shocked at how awful she looked. The woman has always had a remarkable figure, but now she's little more than knobby knees, boney elbows and severe scrawniness. That seems to be a trend that recurring since the models a few years ago that looked more like wraiths than people. Another example is the woman on the Atkins Diet commercials. She used to be a lovely woman, playing opposite Belushi in a sitcom. Since going on the diet, she's downright scarey. Her cheeks are sunken, and she has no meat whatsoever on her bones. Frankly, if that's what that diet does, it would not be for me under any circumstances. I think these ladies have a bad case of either anorexia or bulimia. No normal diet would do this to them. Have you seen these women? Does the Atkins' spokeslady encourage you to use their products?

We don't know what they are going through. Weight loss can occur when somebody is depressed or very stressed, dealing with grief etc. It's very hard for some people to pull themselves together emotionally once they are down, and sometimes they lose weight because they can't eat and not because they don't want to eat. I don't know what is behind everyone's weight loss, but not always bulimia or anorexia due false body image

I do know that the one actress who is pushing the Atkins Diet looks like a wraith and I would never use the diet based on her commercial. What shocks me is that the people who own the Atkins Diet can't seem to see that she has greatly overdone any weight loss. As for Angelina, it seems she began losing weight when she was pregnant. She looked like a third world starving child with matchstick arms and legs and her tiny pregnant belly. Whatever the reason, both of these people are severely underweight at this point and appear to need help. I don't condemn them, but I do worry that they will become the models for today's girls - especially Jolie, who is an icon to the teens. Hugs, Maggie

You're right, they are very likely to become models for teens, and that's the most dangerous about it. They can very easily forget that what they see are seriously underweight people.

I felt embarrassed by watching Angelina Jolie, she sincerely looked so bony that I wonder what was she thinking showing off her legs. I think anyone who wishes to shed some weight off should do it in a way that you do not end up looking like aneroxic. I would not go for any form of dieting plan, I would prefer losing weight by doing exercises and eating healthy.

That's a very smart way to keep yourself in good shape. I cannot for the life of me figure why anyone thinks showing literally bare bones is attractive. It has to be a serious mental problem. Hugs, Maggie

True, infact, I wondered what was the husband feeling/thinking just by looking at her spider looking leg or where was he when she was losing too much weight. He needed to take charge and inform her she was heading in the wrong direction.

oh i haven't seen her recently. i would assume that she did it on purpose and i do hope girls won't be following this and look at it as a trend of some sort.

I wouldn't say stupid, as much as pathetic. No one should TRY to look that bad. Hugs, Maggie
