Great to know that your company is allowing their staff to use Facebook even on a limited time - which is during your lunch break. I wonder if they block it after 1PM. Where I previously work it is not allowed to use Facebook. Although there were times when we just tried to access the site, it would load up. During those times we can access it we then got the chance to update or check something on Facebook. When at work I don't use Facebook to chat with my friends, I use YM so I have no problem when the company suddenly blocks us from accessing FB.

That is great. Well I am still a student but I do know that browsing sites like facebook is also prohibited on our school network during peak office hours because facebook, youtube and other similar sites uses more bandwidth. Anyway, that's good that your company decided to allow its employees to use facebook during that usual lunch break. As long as it's regulated properly, I don't see any cons to it except if an employee chooses to chat on facebook instead of having lunch lol.

It's one way for the company to balance your work and personal life. This is an important thing to minimize stress amongst the employees. Our employees were first given full access to social network sites at any given time of the day but we found out that most of them abused this privilege. They engaged in social interaction too much that they neglected their work. So we limit the access to certain times of the day, like, before the start of work, during lunch break, and after their shift. Two computers were put near the pantry for people to use it during the allowed hours.

It's always happy stay with facebook and chat with our friends. In mine they not allowed in any personal use like social networking. But i am using it on my mobile. It's now in our hand so it's not a matter for me. But lots of company's avoid the social networking site because of their Work not having Concentrated. It's company point of view it's for profit they put us to don't use.

it is good that the company you are working with allows you to use facebook but i think this is normal because the time 12noon to 1pm is considered as lunch break to other offices.

I don't think workplaces should allow facebook. it takes people's attention away from their job. I would much rather focus on work at work and go to facebook when I get home. There are things that are very unprofessional at work. Facebook is one of them. It just fuels the addiction.

good day asliah, well, we can never really tell what are the company reasons they are exercising as to why some companies are allowing and some of them don't allow it. just like in your company, as you have said, they allow you to open up that social networking site between 12 noon to 1 pm. perhaps, they are just allowing this because it is a breaktime. not to be strict during this hours and to give relaxation to the employees. however, some companies are not really allowing this, maybe of the notion, employees will abuse the freewill given to them. as they might open it even during working hours. nevertheless, we can really never tell the very reasons behind. hence, let us just be thankful. just like in your company, that they are not too strict that they allow their employees to get in touch to their friends and families even in a span of one hour. have a nice day.

It seems like your company allows net surfing during lunchbreak but if you can still use Facebook before or after lunch without getting reprimanded for it, then you are lucky! In our company, even net surfing is not allowed. If you are brave enough, you could try and use a proxy but the IT department watches all your moves and if they catch you, tsk tsk tsk...

Although there is no rule ban Facebook in my work place, there is neither written permit to use Facebook. So I actually still in doubt about it. Therefore, I mostly access Facebook through my cellphone. As far as your work finish and Facebook activity does not express anything in your workplace, I think it is okay. Furthermore, we must be careful in using social media. There are many case in US and UK which involved employee because of social media status. Their workplace accused the employee that they reveal company secret through social media. So I think it is better to ask your company regarding social media rule in the company.

Good for you asliah, you are lucky...unluckily i am working with a company wherein facebook is strictly prohibited..actually i am not okey with it, i felt like employees were deprived of their chance to develop and enhance their knowledge and a chance to be educated through the use of technology and networking..Hope they get a chance to realize it...

I work at a gass station so i am unable to use a computer at work. I do get onto facebook all the time while at work on my smart phone. I stay on facebook playing games and talking to my family and friends. I dont think that it would be good to put facebook into the work place cause people that dont get off of facebook wont get there work done. I do atleast do my job and get my work done lol. I now some people that dont!

Yes, we can surf here in the office 24/7 and it is really great.Yes, you are right. It is an easy way to communicate with those of our distant relatives. But there is a disadvantage also like not focusing to work and just focus on posting and commenting on Facebook.lol.

This is great news that you are allowed to use Facebook in lunch time! Sounds like your company understands that it's a way of handling stress. When I worked in an office I didn't have internet at all unfortunately.

On no not facebook again!..hahahaha they want world domination! Unless you use facebook as a marketing platform for your company or business it should be banned in work hours full stop! Just not a massive fan of FB sorry. I would rather be more creative in my lunch hour that talk about what was on my sandwich for lunch..hahahaha, I would want to chat to my work mates than a computer that I have been sitting at all morning.
