I have been following the impeachment trial of Chief Justice Corona since day 1. The latest and most talked about incident of the trial is the confrontation between Senator-Judge Meriam Defensor-Santiago and Private Prosecutor Vitaliano Aguirre. I must say that the action or reaction of Atty. Aguirre by covering his ears when the prosecution panel received another tongue-lashing from Senator Santiago was uncalled for. That is a show of disrespect by a member of the bar to the Court. However, what the lady Senator had been giving the prosecution panel every time she goes behind the podium throwing insults and invectives is more than uncalled for. She may be the judge, an intelligent, learned and experienced legal luminary but that doesn't give her the right to insult, belittle and refer those lawyers as fools. Senator Santiago to my observation had it coming to her. It was Atty. Aguirre who lost his cool and he was right in saying that if the lady senator demands respect she should at least show the same respect to the prosecution lawyers. Aguirre further said that one cannot put a price to human dignity which is true, of course. Do you wish to share your opinion?

Both sides has a point. They should be really careful choosing their words they have to remember that they are being watched all over the country. It is a shame that our Chief justice is being impeached and this shows that how much corruption is happening in our country and that it also shows the works and characters of our nation's senators, lawyers when they are at work. Both sides committed mistakes too by doing acts that wasn't called for.I just hope that this impeachment will come to a close in due time and that punishment shall be placed on those who really did wrong.

You are right joepat, she must observe respect at all time, she should respect lawyers appearing in any court, more so those lawyers involved in the impeachment trial because it is a public trial, a million of people watching the trial. What she did was absolutely beyond the borderline of a normal person, she acted without respect,..what happened with the judicial ethics...it is not enough to read it they should adopt and do it!
