It is a very important question for me now. I have worked hard to get my PHD degree, and i think I will get it soon in the future. Now I am on the way to get a job, but things make me confused. When i went to a interview, many HR makes me feel that i am a rubbish, if they take me, I should be thank them for that decision. I doubt that why they can do that do me. Even if I will not work for them now. It does not means I will not be a customer for them in the future. While the unhappy interviews make me think that, If i am a customer, i will not give any chance to them to have a deal with me, for they do not know how to deal with people and lack the sense of responsibility. Or they have already known that I will not have a future even with a PHD degree?

now that you are hunting a job,you must know whether your major or your ability can benifit the company or not ,if the job you have applied is unrelated with your major ,you must learn to endure these unhappy things, such as people looking down unpon you .as we know, higher education in china has not matched with the demand of social development .as a result ,so many college students have to make a living by other way instead of their major .what we can do is to accept the reality and find the proper career for ourselves.best wishes for you

Don't get disappointed, apply another job. If you did not succeed with the past interviews it doesn't mean that you'll fail again with the other. Imagine if those who lacks education can be successful the more you are as you're educated and had a PHD degree. Have a self confidence a little prayer and a positive mental attitude, next time you'll get a job.

Hi dandan: Even if I don't completely know what your personal situation is my advice to you is don't let people let you down, trust in yourself and about what you want to do. Some people tend to humiliate the others just because they are in power. Just don't lose the confidence in yourself and follow your dreams. You have control of your life. ALVARO

A PhD is useful only if you want to teach in an university or work in a research domain. I have never really worked in my PhD domain, but it was a personal choice. Don't be fooled by people letting you think that your PhD is rubbish : less than 0.1% of the population has a PhD. You have acquired a methodology and a skill making you able to be quickly better than these persons and to really choose the job you want to do, and it is probably not their case. Don't be discouraged by this interview, and good luck for the next one.

I am afraid we all have less future. i see it everywhere, I don't think my 21 old daughter will ever find a job (way to high educated), I also think my 8 and 6 years old children will never find one. They are all very creative, completely different from others, already higher educated and with complete different interests as kids of their age. So I concentrate now on how to make them feel happy, how to express their feelings in art, how to find creative solutions. So they won't feel unhappy or worried if they never find that job and they are still able to fullfill their dreams and are and stay happy.

All of us have our own future, because we are the one who create our future, whatever decision we made today it can really affect our future. Don't think of others (negative people) just think of your own future decide what you want to be in your future and just always believe in yourself and you ability.

It is admirable and to an advantage to have a PHD as part of your name however your future may or may not be dependent on the people you are talking to. Lets look at this from a different perspective and talk about the job markets and the problems that employers are having. What weakness they have should not affect our life? Interviews are a science by themselves? If they treat you like rubbish, at least you are discovering how they are treating their employees.
