Do You Watch Movies On Your Smartphone? Why?

Is it the convenience of it that attracts you? Is it the fact you can watch something on a train, bus or as a car passenger? You can't wait until you get home in order to watch it on your home computer or - er (dare I say it 'cos it's so old-fashioned) a DVD or Blu-Ray? To me, I don't get it if I'm being honest. Having said that, I don't even HAVE a Smartphone or any other mobile phone but, even if I did, watching a movie would be the last thing I'd be interested in. Gaming? Yes. Social networks? Well, only Twitter as I don't have a Facebook account but the very idea of watching a film on - let's face it, a very small screen, doesn't appeal to me at all. How much does it all cost? And as for people who watch sport on their phones, my advice to you is find a pub and watch it in there!

Always Now i am watching Films on my Smartphone only. Because life has Always busy so we have less time to Entertain, so i did in the Travel time and some free time. It's little complicated to watch the Small screen. But not Too bad so.

Does it hurt your eyes? What's the quality of the picture like..does it jump? How about the sound? Can't you tell I don't really understand the workings of a Smartphone!

Quality of The Picture is Good. But it hurts because viewing the tiny small screen continues 1.30hrs. Also the sound quality is Good on mobile if not hear on crowded place i use the Headphones.

That's the main reason why I couldn't watch a film on a small screen, it would hurt my eyes.

I love watching movie. I love it more on a wide screen with great surround sounds. If given the opportunity, I'd watch every film on cinemas but never on a smartphone. Like you, I never get it why people could settle to watch something at a very uncomfortable screen size. I just feel that it's so wrong. You could miss a lot of details in that size of screen. Well, that's just my opinion.

I agree with you. Perhaps people don't really take much notice of it and it's just something to stop them from being bored whilst travelling for example? I just sit there looking out the window. I did have (and still have, but it's based at Mum's) a rather nifty Sony portable mini-disc player and played it on the train when I used to commute to work. I love that little machine, it's so cute and dinky and it doesn't matter that there isn't a screen because it's the music I was listening to.

I would rather pass the time playing games on portable gaming devices, listening to music, or reading books or e-books. I guess I could also watch short clips but never whole movies.

I watched a film split into about 10 parts on YouTube once but it was on my computer..and very enjoyable it was too. However, if I ever get the chance to buy the DVD I shall because it would be even better watching it on a bigger screen!

I do not have a smart phone either. I'm home too much so I can watch movies on my tv or pc if I need to. My hubby will watch videos and such on his phone... I don't know why when he does it most of the time he is home anyway. But of course we have kids and they hog it the majority of the time anyway especially in winter.

I have watched a movie on my iPhone before through Netflix. It is nice to be able to do that. What if you're watching something on TV at home, and you need to go to the bathroom or something. You could take your iPhone or iPad with you and watch it there without missing anything. It is more convenience then anything else. But it is great for kids because they could play a game or watch a TV show or movie they want to see while in the car going on a trip.

Anything like that keeps them content. My son loves playing his X-Box. He could play that for hours. My daughter loves the iPone. She watches YouTube videos and everything on there.

I had a "brick" Nokia phone years ago and I loved it..even moreso than a Sony Ericsson that came after it. Don't have either now, though.

I do believe that it is an expensive way to entertain yourself. One of those new expensive "FAD" it doesn't make people smarter for sure, probably poorer, more people on bankrupcy in the future.

I must be old-fashioned because I just like sitting there watching the world go by whilst travelling. I don't have to do anything..and it's cheaper lol.

I agree with Janey. I too don't enjoy watching movies on my smartphone. The screen is much smaller and it creates unnecessary strain on the eyes. Having said so, I do watch movies or play games on my mobile. But only in some extreme circumtances. Like if I am stuck somewhere, waiting in a line for a long time, or travelling to a distant place in a cab or a bus, making use of the smartphone doesn't seems to be a bad idea. I would always prefer watching a movie on the big screen. Either go to a theater/movies or watch it on my DVD player at home. I do own a big screen TV which makes the experience much better than watching on my mobile.

Does it cost a lot of money watching a movie on your phone?

I really don't want movies on my smartphone, except when I am not home, which makes sense anyway. I do subscribe to netflix and it came as an app on my phone, and I must say, that even with the small screen, it really is very clear. I, mainly watch netflix and mostly on my computer as I don't have a blu ray to watch it on my tv. However, you look at it, watching movies is an enjoyable experience no matter what you watch them on. Take care, and have a very good day.

Actually, the sound on my smartphone is very clear, as I could hear every word and see it all very clearly. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S2 which is a very good phone for videos as well as taking pictures. Since the netlix app came pre installed on my phone, and I have a subscription, I figured I would try it to see how well it would show the movie, and or tv show, and I am very impressed. some phones just have better quality sound and video than others do is all. Take care.

I don't, but my kids do! It's not actually a smartphone, it's an iPod Touch. Exactly just like an iPhone, but without the features of 'calling'. They've downloaded movies on it, and they watch it all the time. Usually in the car. Maybe it's a generation thing. I still like watching it in a big screen. Even my TV at home is not big enough for me.

Haha, yes, I know what you mean. Watching a film on a very small screen would not be my idea of fun and the sound would be terrible as well.

I have a smartphone with an average screen size, infact it is a Blackberry and i sometimes would like watching movies on it which i do every once in a while, especially when am not busy and would like to have some alone time. I also use my mobile phone for gaming and social networks like facebook and twitterr, it is a very nice feeling when you are able to do a lot with just one gadget, which moves around with you everytime.

Hi Janey, I have a smartphone, bought it just before Christmas gone but it's not one of the high-end ones. It's a simple Vodafone smartphone that set me back €69. To answer your question I never watch movies on it for a variety of reasons. Even if it doesn't cost me anything, it eats the battery, would be slow and keep sticking and yes, the screen would bug the life out of me! I'd sooner watch a movie on the telly, computer or my netbook. IrishGal77 :)

I did once, watching movie in my smartphone. Well it was because that time I dont have comp yet, and we only have VCD player at home. I remember Im so eager to watch 3 idiot. Randomly I searched using Opera Mini for the FLV file of 3 idiot, lucky me! I gt it. I downloaded the full movie using mobile, but the quality was very low.

That's another reason why I couldn't watch a movie on a phone..the lack of quality would definitely put me off.

I wait until I get home. No distraction, and I can eat or drink at the same time. Sometime, we just have smile when we see people do funny things, as long as they do not endanger others.

I like watching films with no distractions too. Some people just cannot wait though and I'm trying to fathom out why.
