Is it better to have a 9 to 5 or work for yourself.

This is a easy question, but there are still some people who think that you should clock in instead of clock out for good. Its a fact that, if you want to succeed in life you can't work all your life making someone else rich. Thats way to many hours and days spent that you can't get back. I rather focus most of my time and brilliant mind to my own projects in hope of some capital gain rather than a check every two weeks that barely take care of the bills even tho half of Americans live beyond their means. Its time to take the walmarts down and let more Americans start up businesses that can better help stimulate the economy. People wake up, you have to have everything you do in your power and with your name on it or else you don't have a right to complain about anything about your job because you don't have the authority to change it. So continue to live like a robot on your 9 to 5 while me and the other 25 percent keep building and finding new ways of being whatever we so choose and get paid for it!!!!! P.s I understand it takes money to make money on your own so don't throw it in my face. People learn how to save a little bit sometimes, if its not gonna make a return for you than you probably shouldn't buy it!

What is better for yourself is when you are happy and I think if you have a job that you love and passionate about then working 15 hours a day will not matter because you love what you do and what you do makes you happy. Same thing as if you have your job and you feel stressed-out about if, even if you only work for 5 hours then the stress it is giving you is more.

I have always split the difference between these two choices. I was actually working at a burger flipping job when I started to do freelance writing. It is amazing how much time you have to think in such a job. Even today, I tend to do half for regular clients, and the other half building up my stock of articles and books. My wife also does both; she works as a school teacher during the day, and works on her jewelry and pottery business during her spare time.

If you can, that's great. unfortunatly I have a house and mortgage and need that check every two weeks because bills come in every month. Also, because we have a very modest house and I have no car payment, I can live on $10.00 an hour though I would like to make more. Right now, I'm not making hardly anything.

i admire your conviction of putting up your own name in a business. that's the spirit. i know that you can go places in high levels of success. if you keep this spirit, sooner you will find yourself in a receiving end of blessings and rewards because you did not give up hope and dreams. keep on. keep the good story going.

As Americans we constnatly complain about our jobs and what we don't like about them but instead of doing anything about it we vent our frustrations in the most imbecile like way we possibly can, we shop. We create debts for ourselves, and then stress at work because of the stress at home. I don't like my job most of the time, but I know right now im not in the position to do much about it. Im still trying to save so I can do something about it. I do have to say though that not all of us are in the mindset or have the capability to build our own business, etc, still we can do more to change our situation rather then sit and complain about it.

LOL, I've been thinking about being a businesswoman in the future. This is mostly because my boyfriend has encouraged me to be one. He also wanted to be an entrepreneur. he likes working for himself, being his own boss and earning money his way. LOL, of course, the idea is very appealing. However, it is risky. So, i plan to learn as much as i can about business. Right now, i'm an employee, just a typical robot you see everyday... who tends to bend or even break the company rules at times. too lazy as well. i think having my own business will motivate me and bring out my true potential. This is true to some people as well, i think. So, i agree with brett. We should think ahead and find a way to earn money and be happy and to get off a job we don't like. LOL. but for contented people who have 9-5 then... that's alright.

9 to 5 is the best option. After that you're totally free.

I believe that the best job has the hours 9 until 5. A person with their own business works lots more hours it seems to me. The worst sort of work is shift work with any social hours. My disabled son spent some time in a hospital bed. The nurses at that hospital work 12 hour days twice and the 12 hour nights followed by days off before the cycle starts again. 7 until 7 sounds hard to me. The night shift would be quiet with many kids sleeping I imagine. An employee that gets paid the minimum wage knows how much he or she will be getting. Imagine a shop keeper that has a day with no customers.

It would be in theory better to work on your own schedule, work for yourself. The problem is while most people obviously would enjoy that, very few people can really successfully pull that off with any degree of success. Without the safety net of a job, making your own way can be a rather tough road to travel. A challenge that many people have really risen up and taken but it is a challenge that is hard to really deal with. Can it be done? Naturally. However, many people in the meantime realize that they don't have the discipline, the ambition, or perhaps the imagination to really pull it up, to break the new ground that would lead to success. And thus they are stuck right in the nine to five grind, like a hamster on a wheel, a slave to the soulless machine that is the work force. Never having any thoughts beyond being a part of a team, of being part of a hive mind.

I guess it depends on the person. For me it would depend on how much I'm making. Whichever one provides me with the most income is better for me. I never really had a nine to five job. I wouldn't mind it I don't think.

I think it's better to work for yourself. I've been trying to get a decent job for some time now, and after a while I started thinking why don't I try doing something my own way. I started looking for some ways to make money online. Maybe I'll get a job to invest money in my own ideas but not for a lifetime. You are right, in order to succeed you must work for yourself. It's not easy but I believe we humans are not robots, we should think for ourselves not just work mechanically for others.
