Yes, I always tag my own topics and those where I respond.
Correct tags make our topics show up when similar topics are open. The appear in the 'similar topics' column over there ---
Others might see them and then decide to particpate in them too.

thanks for that! i will definitely read that. i would put few tags on discussions i have started but i never put tags on my responses...i dont bother because there might be the same tags already.

When you start a topic of your own, you can add 10 tags.
When you post it only 5 will show, in alphabetical order.
Then when others add more there will still be 5 showing and they will be in order of popularity, with the tag that has been added the most appearing to the left.

Tags are intended to make similar discussions searchable so that it's easier to find information which has been posted on a particular topic.
I generally 'skip' tagging until I have posted and can read the topic again. I then look at existing tags and/or choose suitable ones to describe the topic or what I have added in a response.
The 'Interest' under which a topic is posted is just ONE way of organising discussions (and a rather basic one which is prone to errors). Tags help a discussion to relate to others in a better and more flexible way.

No, you don't earnmoney for tagging.
You don't earn money if you type iu text/chat language either.
MyLot tell us to post in English.
'You' is English, not 'u'.

in reality i can add some tags if i open a discussion but i nver add tags in relation to my post....in reality tags need only to identify different discussions or posts in relation to their general topic...

People say if you tag your discussion that means it'll be easier to search for. Me I don't tag any of my discussion or other peoples discussions because other people will do it for me. With the title its self it can easily be search for yeah a tag can help but if you have a lot of friends already and they get email send to them about your own discussions then you really don't have to worry about getting the word out about the discussion. Also what ever discussion you started will end up on someone my interests page.

If we are using the myLot search to find a particular discussion, it (the search) will need the tags, not the title, to find it.

Well I never really thought much about it, and therefore I don't always tag any discussions I participated in or initiated, but I'm glad you asked the question. I saw some vital responses to your question from well informed mylotters,loll.

Yes i always tag my discussions and responses. It always helps fellow users to locate the discussion. It will make the discussion search engine friendly. I do not see any disadvantages of tagging.
