I fear that today will again be another last day for me here

I have received a notice of disconnection for my internet last week and I fear that today is the day they will disconnect it since I couldn't pay the bill yet. I have bills to pay piled on me and I have no means to pay it as of now. I'm doomed. My internet bill is roughly around $24 converted, and I hope I could still come up with that amount before their office closes. I do not know how long I could survive without the internet. Anyway, If you guys don't hear from me later, at least you know why. So to make this into a discussion (probably my last in a while, but hope not), how long do you guys think you can survive without the internet? How will you adjust after being so used to having it and maybe dependent on it?

I think most of mylot users are really dependent on their internet connection as they have online jobs like you. I am actually prioritizing bills to pay. I want to make sure I pay the electric bill first. Lucky for me I still have internet connection for today. I hope I could make it in time to pay before I get cut off. Thank you very much for the concern.

I am so relieved that I still have connection as I woke up today. It probably isn't my cut off date yet, so I still have time to look for ways to pay it. It's nice to hear about your concern. Thank you very much!

I hope you figure out a way to keep it on. I think it would be a big change to not have it. I do several things online to help make extra cash.

I am grateful that I am still online now. That's really a big relief. I am actually in the process of something to pay it, and hopefully I could come up with the amount by tomorrow. I appreciate the concern.

I have actually been asking myself what I would probably be doing right now if I was disconnected, as I was expecting. Like you, I have grown so accustomed to having the internet so I think it will be hard living without it. I know I can live though it just don't know how. It's a good thing though that I'm still connected. Whew!

I would like it better and I pray that I wouldn't get disconnected at all. I just want to avoid the extra processes, like applying for reconnection and waiting for a day or two to have it reconnected again.

You're right, we have become so dependent of the internet. I can't do any work when it's out because my job is using online system. At home, my kids would be so mad if there is no internet connection. I think the longest they have to deal without having the internet was 3 days. That's when we had a massive storm here, and power were out for that many days. It's good lesson for them, though; they learned to live without electricity, TV, and electronics.

The internet now plays a major role in many people's lives. As you have said, even children's lifestyle already includes the internet. To most, it's part of their job while to some it is just a part of the daily routine in life. I did experience having no Television for almost two years and that made me independent of it. Before that, I would waste a lot of time watching anything on that box, but now, I rarely watch any TV show. I guess sometimes we have to be apart of this habit to realize more important things in life and to actually learn the value of n these things as well. Thank you for sharing.

Good ol' times, I love to call them. Those were definitely the days. It seems unfair though that this generation will never see beepers and cassette tapes in action.

I don't think I can pass a day without internet (except for weekend of course) because my job requires me to use internet at all time so I can say my job depends on it. Other than my job reason I think I will do fine without internet, I never use internet during my vacation day (three weeks) so I think I will be fine.

I'm sorry about your connection, really it is very hard without internet connection, specially if your used to it. But if you have a laptop or any smartphone try to go to any places that is wifi zone, there a lot of restaurants or coffee shop that is wifi zone. It happened to me a while ago we lost electric power for almost 3 hours, nothing I can do because is it to dark. One thing I thought is to go to the mall and enjoy the wifi with my smartphone.

Our city is experiencing daily rotational blackouts too, so I know how it feels to have no electricity for more than an hour, just plain boring and irritating. I am not comfortable browsing via smartphone and carrying around laptop, plus there are only very few establishments here that offer free wi-fi connection. I guess if I get to desperate times, I would have to go to places like these just the same.

I would go insane if i didn't have the internet. I pay all my bills online and i play facebook games and talk to family online that live out of state. I make sure to pay my bills on time so i don't have that issue because if my internet goes then so does my cable because i pay them both together, it's easier that way. I hope you're internet doesn't go for very long, i would so be bored. But I love to read so I would do more of that if i had no internet. Good luck to you and hope you come back to mylot.

Going back to reading was actually one of the options I had in mind when it does happen. Fortunately, I'm still online now. I was also thinking of watching most of the movies and TV series I have downloaded. I really want to keep this connection so I'll be making ways. Thanks for sharing and for the concern!

Have you called the internet company to let them know your situation and see if they could work with you? I recently became unemployed and called my cell phone provider and explained my situation and told them what I could pay each month. I was able to keep my texting and internet options and they gave me a 30% discount for 6 months. Some providers such as cable, satellite and so forth will give discounts just to keep customers. Good luck. Hope you can keep your internet.

I would if I knew they could offer this, but to the best of my knowledge they wouldn't at all consider such plea. Our city is small and we have only Two main internet service providers here, them being the one on the lead. I doubt that they would consider any appeal or discount. Anyway, thank you very much for the concern and suggestion. As of now, I still have connection so I'm still okay. I'm actually making ways to get enough to pay it, probably tomorrow, that's me really hoping.

I live by the ocean and love the water so I don't tend to let the internet rule my life. I also like to craft, and read books. also make sure I get out once a week just to do some thing out of the house like see a movie or just eat breakfast or have lunch out or walk the mall. I still like to hold a book and have not weaned myself completely into the electronic industry. I know some people are very independent on the computer. I hope you don't lose yours the economy is getting so bad we all are gonna have to make decisions between gas or computer, food or computer. Seems to be going that way here. Hope to see you back on soon here at mylot.

I am happy to know that you are one of those that live life enjoying the simple gifts that are around us and not entirely engrossed with the technological world that man has built. I love doing those things before, but now it seems that I have become too dependent on the norms of today. I wish I could get back to those and just be happy and content again. I miss the time when I would spend hours reading a novel, go out with friends on a nature trip, hit the drum set and play live music with them, get involve on a team sports, and all those things. You are right about people's option now between gas or computer, and food and computer, and things like that. Thank you for giving me back the options that I clearly have missed.

Since i am teaching online, i cannot afford not having a connection even for a day. It would mean missed classes. It would destroy my professionalism to my students and eventually lose clients.

In that case, internet connection is one of your daily needs. I really believe that the internet now plays a major role to most, especially to people like you who have jobs that depend on internet connection. My friend wanted to recruit me as an online English tutor but I declined because I was not confident with my skills and afraid I would let her down. Maybe, now I will give it a try seeing that I have not much option. Anyway, how much is your average income in this job of yours? If you don't mind me asking.

I only take what I can afford/pay for. As soon as I have my income I pay every bill I have to pay, my rent etc. What is left over is to live from with my 3 kids. So that is not much but at least I don't need to be afraid I have to live on the street, have no electricity or internet. If you want something you have to ask yourself if you really need it and what is priority for you.

Back when I was younger and internet was a luxury, I would have lots of things to do on my free time, like reading books and other hobbies, but now it seems to me that, like you, I can only think of spending my free time in the internet. Not only free time but almost all of the time. Thank you for your concern!

I don't know what I would do without internet. I definitely would find a better job so that this would be the least of my worries. If you have to go back to dial up there are some free services still out there. I use to use NoCharge.com. I have not been there lately but if an alternate will suit for a while I would go for it. I hope all is well and you keep on the net. Prayer helps!!

I know how you feel without your Internet. I know the longest I have ever gone was two days and I went crazy. I use the Internet for school and also for making extra money. It was hard trying to get everything done in time for school. I do not think I will ever adjust to not having it. Could you possibly borrow the money from a friend or a relative?

I was so relieved to see that I still have connection as I woke up today. I was already worried too much and really didn't know what to do if I had no connection. It seems that it isn't my cut off day yet. I am now preparing things to help me settle some bills, as I am prioritizing the electric bill first. I did think of borrowing money from a friend but I didn't know who could lend me, because I know most of them are also in tight positions. I just hope I could work this thing I am onto now and have a little profit to pay the bills.

hi there choybel, I am quite sad with what I heard from you. That you were not able to pay your internet bills. As much as I wan to be a help by sending you some tips on how to earn more but, I cannot do it directly here as it just can be down over a private messages. Anyway, hoping that you can get over of that situation. Wishing you to have more means to earn.

I very much appreciate your desire to help. I never tried earning online on other sites except here in mylot, cashgopher, and the local buy and sell site that I have been actively doing business in for years now as well. I have read and heard many things about other sites, mostly negative so that somehow influenced my judgment on trying them out. I am sure that you have some good tips and I would like to hear some of them. If you want to reach me I could probably give you one of my emails. Just contact me via P.M. Thank you very much for your concern!

I can survive without the net for a day I guess. I don't know I am not sure :p. I hope you will be back soon, or maybe let's hope your connection won't be disconnected until next month. Have you tried calling your ISP for extension?

I am very happy and relieved that I still have this internet connection today. I don't know what my day would be like today if I had no internet, but I'm sure it won't be a good one. It seems that it isn't my cut off day yet. I don't know when it will be but I'm sure it must be anytime unless I pay it. So right now I'm onto something which I hope would work out so to gain some cash which I could really use to pay some bills. I don't think there's a way to negotiate for an extension with my ISP, but I do appreciate the concern. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear that. I know how it feels because I have been enjoying my Internet connection for more than a year now. Because I can no longer pay the bills, I decided to terminate my account. I still have until April 10 because it's my cut off. I have another option. I'll use Wifi. The only problem is I always need to go to the mall to use free Internet. Can't you also use Wifi?

That's sad to hear. I hope we both find a way soon to be able to pay the internet bill. I am onto something right now, which I hope would work out. The cash I could get would help a lot. It's just a small sideline, but good enough. Our city is small and there are only few establishments that offer free wifi. I also feel uncomfortable bringing a laptop around town, but your suggestion is a good one. On desperate times, I would go to such places, or just internet cafes. Thanks for sharing!

Yes it is a very difficult situation. You could choose another plan or a lower monthly bills for internet connection so you can pay regularly. Internet connection bills is just one of the many bills we need to think of monthly like electric bills, water bills, etc..

There is a lower plan but this connection is under contract and I think it is non-changeable, plus I don't think the lower plans are any good. I am actually onto something now which I hope would bring me extra profit, which could help me pay some of my bills, I hope. Thank you for your suggestion and concern.

Ah yes, those back ups prepaid kits. For some that could really help but as for me I just don't like them, probably because of the speed. I also do not want to spend loading it since I know I will not enjoy the connection. It still is a good idea, but just not one I would prefer. In your case, I do understand however the importance of having this. Thanks for sharing!
