My mom has been having problems walking and she has been doing some physical therapy recommended by her doctors. But everyone is telling her that the best therapy for back pain or leg muscles pain is swimming. She's in here early seventies and she has not been swimming for years so she's rather hesitant to go back to the pool. Perhaps it won't be a full swimming mode; but she was told even a light exercise in the water would do her some good. Should she give it a try?

@sishy7 I have heard a lot that swimming or even just walking up and down the lanes is good for the back. Helps to strengthen the back. ( so I've heard ).

Yes, it's a good exercise... This reminds me when my mom started to have problems walking... Unfortunately, she is even less mobile now and cannot walk without help... She has to use a walker or prefer a wheel-chair at times

@VivaLaDani13 Yeah, she's only in her mid 70s and in good health otherwise... It's just that her back and legs are giving her problems in the last 5 years or so... And she used to be very active too before that, always traveling and an avid golf player...

I agree with your moms doctor. Swimming is the best exercise in the whole world as we use all our muscles when doing it. Encourage her to do it or go with her and enjoy a swim too.

I'm happy to inform that she has been swimming regularly for few months now and it seems to help her a lot with her pain. My sister usually takes her swimming, but next time I visit her I'd probably be the one taking her since I need the exercise myself. You seem to enjoy swimming too, don't you?
