how do you select the right tv programes for your kids?

nowdays television shows violence and other things that innapropriate for our kids. As a parent or family, how do you deal with it? is there any tricks and tips? Kids are the future generation of the world. They should be well educated.

I will give them educational channel by subscribe a paid tv like as national geographic, discovery channel and cartoon. It useful to development they knowledge beside of the beneficial of education.

I usually put Qubo, disney jr, or Nick jr on for my kids. They play only programs for their age and none of the cartoons are violent. I don't ever let my kids watch anything that I don't approve of.
