My cousin's friend named Anku was caught by the teacher when he was trying to write the exam using the bit of paper. When he was got caught he was not allowed to write the exam any more. By the current law, when a student is caught by copying he was not allowed to write exam for next 5 years. So my friend will not be allowed to write exam for next 5 years. There are many teachers who allows the student to copy but this teacher is little different. How rude she is? Do you think she is rude? Did you ever caught when you was trying to copy? What will you do if you are in the place of teacher?

I am scared if i am copying from other student ,because maybe the teacher will fail me.It is different here,if the teacher caught you,you will receive 70 grade ,means you are failure. Well, its the student fault and even me before if i am copy to others, it's my fault because i did not study about the subjects.

The teacher will announce to study before the exam.So it is the right for the teacher if they remind it,so the students will not cheat but to answer on their own.

If there is just a rule about copying and it has no punishment then it's just a wasste of time. Why give a test if copying is allowed? A test is used for a purpose, and that is to find out what your knowledge is not how well you can cheat and copy from someone else. Sorry, no cheating allowed.

If I were the teacher I would allow him to take the test over, by himself. Especially if this was his first offense. I was a teacher for many years and understand that we are all human and can screw up now and then.

That teacher should have asked for a bribe to keep quiet on the matter. Corruption is acceptable practice. So is cheating and being stupid. If the authorities don't want these things there should be no exams or no school. What's the point of it all? Smart people will be OK, stupid people will stay in the slums. It's natural isn't it?

Where I come from, it is NOT common practice to cheat. No, I never once cheated. I paid attention in class and studied for my exams. What I handed in was totally my own and the results of my labour. A cheat is capable of lying and theft and fraud and other crimes to no doubt. That's not what I am about.

If I was caught copying here, they would kick me out of the college. I would not be allowed to re enroll either. I think that most school here have adopted much of the same rules where this is concerned.

I assume by "copying" you mean cheating. In that case, I don't think it's rude at all. It's dishonest and lazy to cheat on your exams. The 5 year sentence sounds a bit harsh, but I imagine it was a very important exam to warrant such a long punishment for dishonesty. If that's the case then 5 years could be a pretty justifiable sentence. If I was in the teacher's place I would have done the same thing. I haven't tried copying anyone else's work since elementary school when I was nine. I don't remember ever getting caught, but I wouldn't do it again. Like I said, I firmly believe it's lazy and dishonest.

I think the rule is set there for a reason. Anyone trying to violate the rule and trying to get away with it should surely learn from the lesson. If I were the teacher, I would do exactly what the rule says. I would do it so that students would understand and learn the these things shouldn't be taken lightly. If one could get away with something like that in school, then he/she could carry the habit and become a bad citizen. Therefore, I applaud the teacher for her courage and for being firm. As for the student, good for you! In my school, there's a rule that whenever a student tries to cheat and gets caught, the teacher has the following options: - give the student a failing mark for the exam - fail the student for the entire course (he has to repeat everything). - Suspension of the student. and if the student has committed plagiarism, the student will fail at the same the get 1 year jail time. I would definitely do that to the student if I catch the student cheating. No questions asked. Have a great MyLot experience ahead.

It would be rude if the boy wasn't told that there are punishments or that it's wrong. I tell you, if you don't discipline kids, you'd end up with a society that is full of dishonest people who know that they could get away with anything. Regardless how good your government is, there will be no prosperity.

Hello wonderboy, She may not be rude but strict with the rules. But thinking from the child’s part, the punishment is bit harsh. I know he/she done a great mistake, but 5 years is too big. I hope the students will never try to copy in exam, if they fail they will lose only one year but if they caught, they will lose 5 long years. I never did any such thing in my student’s life.

Well the length might be a little harsh to say the least, even if I think you would learn the lesson. But I think that it would be unwise to really copy anything. Not if other teachers tend to let the people get away with it. Not because other students really have gotten away with it. I think that really if you get caught, then there should in fact be consequences. It really does make it harder on everyone else, because if someone gets caught copying, then the teacher is going to breath down everyone's necks. Of course, I never really copied a single answer off anyone. Then again, I found myself surrounded by the people who wanted to try and copy off of me. The key word was try. Of course, the problem is that you shouldn't trust that what you are copying might be the right answer. Especially with someone like me, who purposely misdirected people by writing down wrong answers when people tried to copy off me. I kind of do feel flattered that someone thought I was smart, but really I work hard, you're not leaching off of my work.

Well i have taught in colleges for 45+ years, have conducted several examinations, as per special order from govt recently i went to check examination centres in my city, it was a surprise raid, i saw many guys and girls copying utilizing different techniques, i booked many malpractice cases, they will lose one year, not 5 years, so your place is it 5 years? some teachers who supported them will also be punished on the basis of my report..teaches

copying in exams well almost all of us do it if we are copying we have to be sure that if caught then we would have to suffer the conscious i never use to take any cheats with me i just use to ask for answer or glance a lot but taking cheats is something which i am not good at well 5 years punishment i haven't heard of that but yeah we are not allowed to give that particular paper and whatever we have written is count as a big ZERO some student even waste one year due to this well from the teacher points she is doing her/his duty so no problem. Remember If we are copying we have to make sure not to get caught and if caught we can't blame the teacher for the punishment well all i can say is that if your friends didn't know how to copy he shouldn't have tried it

Off Course yes but a punishment of 5 year well no but ban for that subject surely yes Some Teacher even when they caught us copying would just scold us but some would not i am not a teacher but if i was i would give a warning if ignored then punish them for sure what's the point of supervising a exam if we allow our students to copy even when we are present there. and what's is wrong in punishing a student who is cheating ???

Oh is that so, that it's the current law in your country, that you will not be allowed to take an exam for next 5 years? So, it means you will not be able to go to school anymore, because not taking an exam would mean you will get a failing grade. That's a very unreasonable punishment, in my opinion.

Well I do believe your friend was wrong to try to cheat during examinations, but I do also believe not allowing him to sit for examinations for 5 long years is very harsh too! I think the law you have there in your country is very harsh, but then again maybe it is because they want people to be scared of the law and not try to cheat.

Well, as a student, I do admit that I also cheat in class. Basing on my observations, most of our teachers would not let you take the exam when you cheat. That means, your automatic score for that particular exam would be zero(0).

Hello friend..! I didn't copy for any exam. I learn more and more before the exam. I didn't cheat to my teachers.. I am sorry for Anku. But i didn't think teachers will give him this type of punishment. So bad.. In our exam hall there are so many are copy to the exam. And they exchange their question papers or answer papers and write each other. Or sometimes they discuss and write the answer.. I don't like it. I don't do like this. I get very good marks on those exams. Without copying. But they have always got less marks..!! I don't know how..? And then.. now what can you do to your cousin..?

Oh! That's really sad. I agree there are certain teachers who allow students to copy, but personally I don't appreciate it. I don't think the teacher was being rude, she did what she was supposed to do. Being in her place I also would have done the same thing. Encouraging students to copy in exams is certainly not the right thing. I would prefer scoring less marks than gaining more marks through cheating and this is what I teach my students. I am feeling really sorry for Anku, but I am sure this incident will make a positive impact on him. He will learn not to go for shortcuts, but to achieve good results with hard-work and honesty.

WOW i have never every copied on an exam. I love to write even though i dont now a hole lot about grammer and how you put things together and all of that. But i have found that i do fine if im writeing about real life things. I cant say that i would ever cheat on a test though. I have never hear of not being able to do an exam paper for 5 years. I do not think that it is rude the teacher was just doing her job. If it comes out that the teacher didnt do their job it could cost them their job so she probably did it just to keep food on her table.
