What do you think makes my lap top battery go schizophrenic

One day months ago my lap top battery showed only 75% power and plugged in. The percentage would change but it would never actually go to 100%. I did a battery health check 15 times at least. It said the battery needed to be replaced every time. Then about 4 days ago my laptop was not plugged in. One of the dogs must have bumped it and I didn't know it. So with a dead, drained battery I plugged it in and it started charging, and charging. Upon reaching 100% I checked it out and the battery is good and plugged in?! That was yesterday. Today it still says 100% charged and plugged in! I was putting off getting a new battery (recommendation)and could have spend $130 and thrown away a good battery?!!!! So all you computer geeks ;) what was that?

I am not a computer geek but this brings to mind a camera I had....it seemed to have quit working..a friend of mine got a new camera and after about a week it started acting up....she called the company and they told her to take out the battery and the memory card and put it back in....it worked perfectly....seems that it gets reset that way....maybe something like that happened to your computer.

No you're not a computer geek. You are more of a crafting geek. I'm a research and finance geek. You're right! I think it's kind of like a total shut down of a computer and bringing it back up! RESET!

Just reset the battery gauge once or twice. It may resolve the problem. Try this link - http://www.ehow.com/how_7666317_reset-battery-gauge.html

You know I think that's what happened when it was accidentally unplugged! I plugged it back in and closed it up. Thanks to your reading material I figure I reset the battery! Never did that before!
