Tomato and health.

We all know that tomato is good for health and so many of us use to take it with salad in pieces, some even use to take intact tomatoes. It is reported that if cut pieces of tomatoes are kept unconsumed for long, vitamin C gets oxidized and is of no benefit to health; rather it may be harmful for the body. So, those who are fond of salad or have special fascination for tomatoes must keep it in mind and always consume either intact tomatoes or freshly pieced tomatoes.

Yeah i've heard of it too. So freshly cut tomatoes are way much better and should not be kept in the fridge before consuming.

Yes this is the truth with all food virtually though, the longer a vegetable, fruit and probably even meat sits around the more nutrients it will lose than being in it's whole form. It is always best to eat your food as fresh as possible so if you are making a salad, than eat it after you're done making it for maximum nutrients. Another thing that I have learned in chemistry is that the lycopene in tomatoes may digest better when cooked than when raw. I however love salads and eating raw vegetables and I know that it is good for us because none of the vitamins or nutrients are cooked out of the vegetables either. The most important thing for us to do though is to always try and fit more vegetables and fruits into our diets. Also I would suggest people to fit nuts and seeds such as chia, flax, and others that may be out there that are filled with omega-3's and other nutrients as well.

Hi doctor, i usually like to consume freshly cut tomato, since it tastes more delicious. In fact, i seldom want to keep those tomatoes that had been cut for another day use. It is because the smell isn't fresh and even the taste is not delicious anymore. It is good you posted the information here, so everyone will aware of it. I think i will always prefer to eat freshly cut tomatoes.

I never knew that there was a chance that consuming a tomato that had been diced for a period of time could be toxic for the human body. With that said, I used to be a person that didn't really care for tomatoes, but they are something that I really like now, I love to pick the grape tomatoes right off of the vine and wash them and eat them while they are still warm from the sun. I also like to eat them in salads and I also like to eat them with ham or chicken salad.

Yes, fruits and veggies are good for our body. Tomatoes is a good source of vitamin C and frequent consumption of it helps maintain beautiful skin too. I don't know about left overs which are already cut the benefits we get will be less or maybe harmful to our body. Anyway, thanks for the info my friend.

Different stories have been floated about tomatoes. The latest research says consuming tomatoes leads to stone formation in the urinary bladder. One of my friend was discharged just 2 days before for stones in his urinary tract. Doctors suggested that he avoid eating tomatoes. I wonder how true this is

Fresh vegetables of salad variety are good for health. Fresh food particularly salads are healthy and give our bodies some rest because they are easily digestible unlike the oil laden cooked food we eat. What should be kept in mind here is that too much of anything is bad, including salads. Tomato for instance has abundance of calcium which is a very hard to digest mineral. Too much of Tomato can cause stones in various glands and even cataract too. For a healthy life a balanced diet is essential.

All fresh fruit or vegetables thats are left out will lose it's vitamins. That's why we do have to eat them in an appropriate amount of time. Before they go bad.
