Hey. I heard that sleeping on your left side can be bad for your health because the heart is not working properly. I don't know if it's true though. Do you guys think it's true ?

Well if it is bad, that I'm pretty much screwed, because I sleep on my left side a lot of the time. Except for all of the times where I sleep on my right side. Or my back. Or my front. I think that I've slept in every manner, except standing on my head. As far as I know at least. Of course, no one really knows how they are sleeping. Well if it is true, than so be it. That is just the stance I've taken with all health related issues this day and age. It could be true, but I think that everything is pretty much bad for you anymore if you listen to the right people. It is intriguing for sure much like everything else. I don't know for sure, but I'm kind of not going to lose sleep over it even if it is.

I've actually never heard this before, and I'm not entirely sure how true this is. Granted, I'm no doctor, or nurse, so I can't say for sure, but I do have my doubts about this statement.

I sleep on both my left and my right side, and I am perfectly fine, so I don't see that there is any problem with it. Who says it bad to sleep on your left side?

My mother told me thins when I was little, she knows from her mother. I never really paid attention to it. I asked because I wanted to know if other people know about this. I sometimes sleep on my left side too

I would like to see what scientists and specialists would have to say about this because I really don't think that it makes a difference. Otherwise, a lot of people would really be in trouble right now.

Hmmm.. this is the frist time ive heard this. What i know is that you cant sleep in the same side all the time because it will put too much pressure on that side of the ear thus causing sensorineural deafness.

I spend most of the time sleeping on my left side. Just because I prefer that side, although it does have some other advantages, sleeping with a partner when you are right handed! I don't think it does any harm. Technically the heart is more or less in the middle anyway!

I've never heard this before. But, I have heard from my doctor that sleeping on your left side helps with acid reflux disease, so I suppose if it were a well known fact that it's bad for you a professional doctor wouldn't tell his patients to do it. But I don't know, he may be wrong. Doctors aren't perfect. But if you like sleeping on the left, do it I guess.

I've had pretty serious issues with my blood pressure over the past few years. No matter what meds I was prescribed, nothing was bringing it down. My doctor naturally told me a whole list of things I should do and not do... and one of the things she told me was to try to avoid sleeping on my left side. I don't know if it's "generally" not such a great idea or if it was just related to the degree of trouble I was having - but it's definitely not an unheard of recommendation. I pretty much sleep 50/50 left side or right side, though. I start out on my right side every night but many times I wake up on my left.

REally? I think I have heard of that before but i sleep on either side- I don't even notice. I hope it's not true. But from now on I think I'll try to sleep on my right side of just lie back.
