hi mylotters! Nowadays, call center jobs are more indemand in working industry now, but somehow there are some choosen people who has the capability to stay long at that type of work, because of its graveyard shift, which means they had different time lifestyle, they work at night and they sleep in the morning. Some of them got sick because of adjusting the time differences, although they got the high paid job now. So my question now, if you working in a call center what do you think, you will survive the nature or not?

I've done call centre work several times in the past and I've absolutely hated it. I've got no problem with unusual shift patterns, it's the nature of the job I hate - having to talk to people who are upset and irrational, not to mention rude, I always seem to get an idiot as a team leader, and there's always a lot of pressure to sell, which isn't one of my talents. There's way too much stress involved for the crummy pay - it's just not for me.

Amen to that.I'd rather have a low paying job than have a high paying one but I get sick because of the stressful environment not to mention very negative environment with angry people or people complaining. And I want to be a girl w/a normal lifestyle.

I think that you can survive, or I can survive if I'm in that call center as an agent. If we put our heart and mind into something, we will always survive if we have the ability and the determination to make it work. I agree with you that call center jobs are growing these days in our country. There are already some call center companies making it big. What I don't like is when these agents lie just to make their company good. Like for example, my friend told me that they have to lie living in California, when they are here in the Philippines.

I think these types of jobs are OK for the youngsters who are energetic and want to use these jobs as the make shift one's for them. Making Career in Call centers is not that easy. More over after getting married and while thinking to settle these jobs can definitely be a big hampering factors! I am talking about the jobs available in my Country! The multinationals are paying god salary and the people are supposed to work for only 5 days a week and they are getting free meals also as an added bonus. They provide you pick up Van , which drops you back to your place after the work! This looks lucrative initially but in long run people gt frustrated as they have nothing to contribute in making their career as no body considers call center experience as an experience except for another call center! If we talk about the local call centers here one can get opportunity to work during the day time but the salary offered is too low and even a single person can't survive with that salary! Thus in my opinion the call center jobs can be just make shift in nature , like the jobs offered at KFC or Mcdonalds and we can't think of making career out of them! Thanks !

Nowadys,, whatever job is available how hard it is,, many individuals are able to cope with situation because its difficult to find a great job.. Im planning to apply as a call center agent now since working in hospitals without salary is not even enough for myself. I think il be able to cope with that shift since working as a nurse requires us too to work at night. :)

Hmm, I don't think so, though it has higher wage, or higher paying job i can't since i can't waste my time for sleeping on just talking or taking calls from people who's really rude or mean, also it also ruin your health and body.

Yes ofcourse, I have the same view as you when I first had my graveyard shift, I thought I will die...I keep on thinking how to deal with it, it is very hard to sleep in the morning when everybody is working, however, I need to because I need to be independent and would like to prove something too. I tried working as a clerk before (first job) however it did not work for me since the pay is sooo low, so worked as a call center agent it pays better than my first job however the work is at night so for me it is all motivation, you need to have your own motivation to really work, I believe there is no easy work not unless you have your own company and every person is just reporting to you but that even en tales hard work...for me it all in the mind.

I worked in a telephone exchange for 31years, this is the same thing as a call centre I guess... I worked shift work, one week late one week early, but we were allowed to change shifts with each other which made it a good thing..I loved my job at the start when we were allowed to give service to the customer, then near the end it was all about money and unrealistic time outs for the operator...sad because it was a good job.

I have been a freelance telephone interviewer for few years and I sometimes have different shift to come as my supervisor wants me but I come also no matter what. I think to make money must put in some effort.

Man, I wish I had access to those kinds of jobs. But here in the United States there aren't many jobs like those, as most American companies ship those jobs overseas. It's a real shame too, with all the people unemployed here in the US. But back to the subject. I think I could survive, but I don't know because I've never done something like that and wouldn't know what it's like to work there or how the conditions are. But, based on the people I've talked to whenever I have to talk to someone in a call center, it doesn't seem like it would be too hard. But, I could be wrong.

I think it all depends on how you cope up. If you can easily adjust to the lifesyle needed for you to work on a call center, then you can easily managed and work on it for years.
