I am big, and I am heavy, but I don't really consider myself to be fat. I am not ripped or shredded either, but I do carry a lot of muscle. I am 5'9" and my weight bounces between 335 and 340 pounds. I have always been big and heavy, but it mostly came from me playing football, and lifting weights to play football. I used to be heavy and had more fat on me, and I didn't have as much energy as I do know. At one point I did reach 353 pounds, but at the time, i weighed around 345, and had a weird weight gain issue, but I never felt I was so big that I would run out of breath from walking. In the past year, I did lose almost 60 pounds, but it came from stress, and not eating, and drop down to 290. It was the first time that I was under 300 in quite some time, but I didn't like how it occurred. I felt like I was nothing but fat, and I was constantly tired and weak. But things started straightening out and was able to hit the weights again, and what was loss came back. People wanted me to be thin and the ideal weight, and I was at one point, but it felt terrible. I was always sick. I am comfortable with where my body is now, as it also has a purpose and my must be its raw strength. I would like to trade some of the fat for more muscle. To me, I feel normal. Most of my clothes I buy from regular clothing racks, but I have a weird body shape because I am starting to search big and tall sections for shirt because my chest is so big (60 inches), but my waist is much smaller at 42 (44 if I keep growing muscle in my thighs). I have been told I look like a bodybuilder, but I dismiss that thought, or I am too humble or shy. I don't really like to brag about it. I am comfortable with it

That is terrible what they went through. What is sad is that with our society, and the way we are hammered with so much media, it is easier to push certain 'ideals' out to people, which makes it easer to accept as the norm because the message is being driven everywhere. It is like that for those who think that being healthy means having a bulging six pack, or a nice slim figure. I went to see some friends one day, and they complimented on how much better I looked because I had loss weight and I was slimmer. I did lose 60 pounds, but it was because I was sick, going through tremendous stress, and because I had loss my job, had no food. All they saw was me being smaller, but I was weak, having chronic fatigue, and getting sick easily. Not what I would call healthy. Unfortunately, we have been programmed to think that all thin people are healthy, and we must strive to be like them, no matter the cost. I fell into that fallacy once, trying to be thin, but it failed miserably. Never again will I get caught in that fallacy.

that is what counts, how you feel or look at yourself or see in the mirror each day and be happy.. i use to have a good friend that was over weight all thru gradw school her and her sister both it was in the family genes and could not be helped so in high school when they started noticing guys they both sister started thrwoing up until they got very sick and finaly stopped as it was dangerous to there health they did lose and looked good.. but later fpund new ways to do it and now looking back im sure they regret that.. and are glad they stoppped in time with no damage to the throat.. take care and be happy that counts for it all..

Nope I am not fat. I consider myself extremely fortunate. At my age, many women are heavy and have issues getting around. I am 5'6" tall and weigh 125. I wear a size 8 jean and don't have a tummy. I am one of those people who can eat and drink regular soda and not gain. Must be my genes however my mother was terribly overweight. I also have no gray hair which is odd at my age. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I am bragging but am overall very happy with my body for an old broad...lol Happy Easter.

I don't exactly know how much I weigh now, but I can say I am fat. You know why? Because I can hold with my hand some fats here with my belly and when I look at the mirror, my face sag because of fat! That for me is a solid evidence I am fat!

i am very skinny and i hate it i only weigh 98 pounds and i am 5ft 3 inches and that makes me underweight. i would gain some weight when i am with my boyfriend because i enjoy eating when i am with him and i am just a happy girl hehehe but whenever he leaves me to go back to the states to work, i feel like i get so depressed and i lose appetite in everything i still want to gain some more weight, even just 10 pounds so i wont look unhealthy hehehe

wow, i will give you some of my unwanted pounds look in your mail box lol i know waht you mean thoguth all jokes aside, my daughter is 21 and she is under 100 pounds, i dont think she eats right and i worry about her my youngest daughter is now weighing more then her and id rather she be healthy then look so thin and be sick... its weird how that works , at least you dont think your fat, that is waht kills me when a person who is not fat at all will see thme self as fat in the mirror, i guess it is a disease they have.. i feel sorry for them.. id much rahter be fat and happy then skinny and sick.. look online for ways to gain, and take vitamins they will make you hungry, sounds stuid but take prenatal vitamins they wont hurt you and shoud cause you to eat giving you appetite.. and can be bougth over the counter. i take iron and folic acid pills and they make me hungry as welll.. take care of yourself ..

I think to call yourself fat, you first need to know your BMI, that is the only time that you can be able to tell. I weigh 56 kgs and my height is 5'3. My BMI is between 21 and 22 which is pretty within normal range.

i am learning about the BMI , my docter weight me once a month when i go see her and she moniters the BMI, or body mass inches i think it stands for.. so next time i go to dr, i think nrxt tuesday, i will ask her about my BMI and see where im at and if it is high i may make a few changes but no diet right now i would much rather just make good small changes .. as i love food and enjoy eating.. and i need that right now to help me when im down.. get thur the bad, sounds bad but that's my thoguhts for now may change later.. who knows..

You BMI is the only that can be able to show whether you are overweight or not. It good that you plan to request it from you doctor. I usually try to eat healthy foos as much as I can though not all the times.

i have just lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks with a well known weight loss company, i was 13st 3 now i am 12st 8, i looked at my BMI chart and i was clinically obese, since losing the weight i have checked it again and i am now overweight, i still carry fat in my body because i have not completed my diet yet and i have not reached my goal, my goal weight is 9st 11, that's what weight i should be for my body frame and height, i was fat but now overweight, but i am getting there i go for my weigh in this Tuesday coming and i know that i have lost more weight, i can feel it, since i started with the weight classes my waist size has gone down from 44in to 39, my bust has reduced from 46 to 42 and my hips were 48, now 42, i am very pleased with my results so far, but i am still working on losing more, i won't go any lower than my target weight because of my age, i do not want to look too thin, as i know older women who are in their late 40's/50's will look older than they are if they are too thin, so reaching my target will be perfect for me, i still have a tummy, but i was told that this is the last thing to lose whilst the rest of the body is losing weight faster, so my next step is to do some abs exercises, it all takes time but i am slowly getting there

congratulations on your weight loss so far and what you have accomplished, my biggest problem is my tummy as well.. i know i could lose some there for sure.. but i try not to get myself on a big huge diet all at once and get depressed when things are going so well.. so i will try to cut back here and there it works best for me to do it that way.. not such a gradual change .. i can handle that.. and do better..

since responding to this thread, i have now hit my 1 stone weight loss, i am so happy, so that's 14 pounds in total, my tummy is not half as big as it used to me, i am gdoing crunches in the morning, i am out bike riding or doing some gardening, what ever i can do in the form of exercise i do it, i wish you well with your diet, you just have to take it in your stride and try not to crave all the goodies that you like the most

I do consider myself fat. Not huge fat but more fluffy fat. Fat comes in all different sizes. I have lost alot of weight in the past couple of years. I think stress was a big factor and the fact I was single for two years and wanted to look thinner to attract a man. Luckily I found one who likes me for the way I look. I am down to a size 9/10 from a size 18 back in 2009. I am half the size I was but as i am getting older my skin does not go back in place like it did when I lost weight when I was younger.

i feel the same way except im at 16-18 right now i use to weigh 225 and i was very fat. even in my face. so maybe that is why im content with my weight. plus i dont want to lose too fast and have to buy new clothes as we need to get our finances caught up before i buy all new clothes.. so i buy a few at a time now .. as needed and im happy to not be 225 again as i was very miserable in that body..

I do not consider myself to be fat. I am a bit heavier then I should be but not that much. If I lost 10 pounds it would be great. If I lost 20 I would be at an awesome weight. If I lost more than 20 I would be too skinny I think. I would like to lose 10 pounds for health reasons, and if I lost that I feel I would be very healthy and I would look really good as well.

I was a skinny kid. So, growing up I didn't have much regard on what I ate, healthy or not. I always had faster metabolism so it was a problem gaining weight. Nowadays I've noticed that I have a lot of clothes that don't fit anymore. I have a belly that seems to be growing over the years, and my waistline keeps getting lower! Yet, I still do not consider myself fat. I grew with a 'skinny-mentality' that it's just hard to change this view about myself.

You know what you said is a lot like me. I used to weigh a lot more and now I think I've gained a few pounds back but not enough to really worry about. My clothes fit the same as they did for the last few years. My husband commented recently that he thought I put on a few pounds but I told him that if I walk every day, drink my green tea and watch what I eat, I should be fine. Nowadays, it's my health I try to care for more than my looks because I'm getting older and I'm married and my husband says he loves me no matter what anyway. I, too, look good in the right pair of jeans, says my husband. It's your state of mind that effects how you feel about yourself , I think, if you feel down all the time , perhaps you'll feel overweight and so on. If you think and feel positive most of the time, you'll feel like you look good then you probably do look good.

As of now, I don't consider myself fat or obese. I have a slender body composition so being fat is not yet ascribed to me. In many cases, our health can be affected by the type of body composition we have. If we become too obese or too fat, then our heart can suffer, our movement is restricted, and our diet must be watched to avoid developing into a fat, sick, and ugly piggy-look person.

Sometimes I feel fat and sometimes not. It depends on what I wear and how much I eat in a day. I am tall so most of my friends told me that I still look good with my weight. BUT of course if you would ask me I would still want to lose a little weight maybe 10-20 pounds. I am not aware of my actual weight right now. I am just glad that I still have flat tummy. =) It's more like of a CONFIDENCE and how you carry yourself.

If you weigh more than what's right for your age and height, then you're fat. However, that doesn't mean your ugly or unsexy. There are many fat women who still exude beauty and confidence wearing whatever they like that flatters their figure. I was overweight by 10lbs when I was not yet pregnant, and now I weigh 175lbs. I've got a lot to work on after I give birth.

I have about 20 lbs to go to reach my goal! However, I am in size 8 - 10 jeans, depending on the brand, down from size 24!! I weighed a lil over 300 lbs at the beginning of 2004, and that's when I started working at losing the weight, I'm only 5'3"! It is weird to me that when I look at how far I have come from then, I have actually lost enough weight for another person! so far have lost 150 lbs and have kept it off...only 20 to go, I'll reach that goal in the next few weeks. However, after being that heavy, there are days I still see me as being fat when I look in the mirror!! But that too is changing!

that is great your weight loss success, do you mind to share how you lost so much weight, what did you do, i did lose from 225 down to 185, but mine was due to the medication i was on after i got off that medication i dropped like a deflatted balloon. but at 185 im at a stand still, i dont think im fat or see myself as fat but i would live to be like 150 or even 125.. yikes.. so if you dont mind to share how you lost , maybe it could be some things i could do to help me lose.. also learn to be happy with where you are and love yourself no matter what you look like.... be happy ..

that is exactly how i feel, i have learned to love my body as it is, if i lose great but if i dont i dont beat myself up.. my hubby dont never say anything about my weight, when i was at my highest weight i as 225 that gain was caused by a medication and as soon as i stoped taking it i dropped to 185 and i use to diet alot and try to lose more but i think 175 is as low as i could go. so now im ok at 185.. one day i may get on a diet kick and try to lose but i will never sever starve my self again.. no matter what.. thanks for sharing,

I am fat... I actually take it by what my BMI is. According to that, for a guy like me, about 6'0", 30 years old, 180+ is called overweight, and then 220+ is considered obese. I weigh around 250 lbs right now, but I'm working very hard to get to that "overweight" spot. I started this year at 268 lbs, and the highest I ever was (many years ago) was around 345 lbs. So, I've been working it down, and I'm going to keep on doing that, until I can call myself overweight. I kinda dream of just being overweight... so I watch my calories like a hawk and be sure to get exercise, everyday if I can.

sounds like you are on top of it and if you keep it up you will see results every day just dont give up, and remember you will have good and bad days as well and on the bad days it's ok to have a cheat day and have something small that you like dont completely cut out everything bad,, i feel it sets you up for failure instead celebrate you sccomplishments or if you loose any be proud and reward your self every now in then.. just dont over do it and defeat the purpose.. i slowly cut back on the foods i love and that helps me.. good luck.

Hi laken: I must admit that some years ago I was a little bit chubby. Not too fast but I was not at a good physical state which is not something good. Since that moment I have done exercise regularly and my weight right now is just good. I don't consider myself fat but this doesn't mean that I should not care for my health and taking care of me. I believe it's all in your frame of mind! I'm 5'7". I've weighed anywhere from 135 pounds to 266 pounds in my 55 years on this planet. Never considered myself fat until this year. I am down to 177 pounds but when it got cold out I got less exercise. I've stayed at 177 since then. I'm not worried about that because as soon as I start riding my bike again I will loose weight again. I know I'll never weigh less than 135. It can't be done. So to hit that weight I have to loose 42 lbs. This will be the hardest weight to loose but I have patience. I read somewhere that balance is the first thing you loose when getting older. I also remember they said closing your eyes and standing on one foot tells you how much balance you have. If you can do it for 10 seconds you have great balance. Less than 10 seconds, it's starting to go. Then I read riding a bike or anything else requiring balance helps strengthen your ability to balance and that regaining your balance strengthens your brain in general. I figure I'm gaining two things. Why not? I've got nothing to loose. I might fall, but then again, I might not!

thanks for the great info.. and you are very right.. i noticed as i get older the less i worry about being skinny again, i use to wantto weigh 125. like i did in high school but now id be ok at 150. that would be 30 pounds less then i weigh now but i cant get to much going on at once so first im gettting alot of exercise at my new job as im always on he go it is not a set down job that helps me there. and me and hubby are not eating out like we use to alot of times we will grill out on weekends and some thru the week and that helps as well and on my 3 days off if i feel liie it i can take my walk and that will help and just cut back on small things i do.. take care be happy,

when i weigh around 110 pounds i consider it fat already. Belly started to build up hehehe.. but actually that supposed to be the ideal weight for my height. but i used to have a weight less than 100 pounds. its more lighter and easy to go around. If i weight a hundred i hardly breath well now i have to loose my weight coz if don't i cant breath easily and acid will build up in my stomach. so i like my weight again. dont worry you are not fat your just getting sexier
