I Am Sooo Pleased With My Wallpaper Choice For The Hallway And Stairs :-)

If you remember my FIL tried putting some lining-paper on the vestibule wall (only 3 lengths) and it was obvious that this paper wasn't going to do the job of covering up any wall imperfections. It wasn't my FIL's fault, just one of those things. Anyway, with today being a Bank Holiday John was off work so we could go shopping for some thicker wallpaper. I'd already done a bit of research online so I knew which shops to go for. B&Q had the Superfresco brand of wallpaper which is thick stuff that can be painted. The cheapest price we saw was around £7.99 per roll. We had a design in mind if we didn't see anything in other shops we planned to go in. Anyway, the next stop was a shop called The Range. I like this shop a lot because it's cheap and cheerful but sells stuff I actually WANT for a fair price. I bought my measuring cups from there a while back. The place was busy but we persevered and I spotted a wallpaper I liked almost immediately. It's by a well-known wallpaper manufacturer called Arthouse and the design is called Dash as it has vertical light-reflective dashes running through it and the paper itself was perfect..very thick and easy to paint over if we so wish. Initially, I saw the cream rolls (not my favourite colour) but right next to them were the WHITE versions at a pound cheaper i.e. £6.99 a roll. I couldn't believe my luck! In actual fact, our luck continued because John could buy all the rolls he needed right there and then. As the Shop Assistant said, "It's very rare you get all the rolls with the same batch number on them" so to say I was ecstatic was an understatement. I reckon my FIL is going to have a whale of a time putting this wallpaper up and I honestly think it might NOT need painting. We shall have to see once it's up. White is certainly a great colour to choose, especially with the shimmering dashes all over it. I can't wait to see the rolls on the walls! After that we visited Morrison's for our food shop and there were many bargains to be had in there as well..so, all-in-all a very good day. I think the Ford Focus is bringing us luck! I haven't taken a photograph of the wallpaper yet. I shall take one when a few pieces have been put on the walls on Saturday and I'm hoping you will be able to make out the shimmering effect on your screens. I must admit though, the rolls look much better in the flesh than the versions I've seen online so I'm glad we actually visited a real shop.

I´m so glad that your house decorating continues doing well. The best of all is that you are happy with your choices. I remember a paper I once bought for a house we sold decades ago, but I still have it in my mind. I hope yours is that nice too. Luck!

I know what you mean about wallpaper. It's such a personal choice isn't it? For example, I'm not a big fan of those big bloom prints that seem to be on everyone's feature walls (including the in-laws..must get a picture of it next time I'm up there) as I prefer a thicker wallpaper without much of a pattern on it so it can be painted if I get bored. With the thinner printed stuff I just KNOW I'd get bored with it and we'd be back to square one. What was the wallpaper like you mentioned? I'm dying to know.

We haven't long wallpaperer our living room, paper very nice. Its the first time we have ever done any wallpapering. We chose paper that already went with the curtains and pictures as we didn't want to change them. glad you have wallpaper you like as well

That certainly does sound like great news and good luck. maybe the Focus is bringing you luck. Ford rules. LOL. But I think that paper will look good based on how you described it. And thick is good to hide any imperfections. I am real happy for both of you. And I would love to see a picture of the paper.
