So it has finally happened the State has decided that they are going to charge Zimmerman with a crime in the case of the shooting of Trayvon Martin. The media of course is going to Casey Anthony this whole trial. The public is going to be waiting with a blood lust for a conviction that may not happen. If anyone can look back and remember the Casey Anthony trial they will know what I am talking about. This will be a case where if he is found innocent he will have to leave the State and hide somewhere for a very long time so either way he will find himself in prison for a very long time. This is why I have started to despise the mainstream media in covering things and even putting their own judgement on what happened they should stick to the facts and not speculate on something that they know little to nothing about. Court Cases or things where their is a possibility of it going to trial should be a very quick bullet point and not a huge story. They should report what happened as far as the police believe and maybe what the person who is accused or on the defense says and leave it at that. If the audience wants to know mor they have google they can look it up. Speculation isn't very good journalism in general unless supported by facts even then putting guilty on someone before they are charged is insane to say the least. So now I have told you my thoughts tell me yours.

Yes finally, justice is starting to trickle down into the Trayvon/Zimmerman saga. I think that this story is a very tragic incident and the media has done this story a disservice. The media has tried this case in the arena of public opinion which is not good for anyone. Assumptions does nothing for the situation but make and a** out of everyone who preconceive what they think may have happen before the real facts comes out. I must disagree with you, this is a high profile court case and it should get the media coverage it deserves. If the audience wants to know more then the media should tell the people what is going on in this case. You speak of censorship which is never good. Whether Zimmerman is found innocent or not his life will never be the same him and Trayvon are one with infamy. So, this will follow Zimmerman for ever.

I speak of good journalism they didn't just give the facts of what we knew they made their own case and in some cases even doctored evidence to persuade their audience one way. These media companies failed to do good journalism and didn't stick to the facts they just made up the facts as they went. They edited the evidence they presented to their viewership and performed a very vile act in doing so. They made it seem like Zimmerman was a Racist when he was just answering the 911 operators question of what race is the person and he responded "I think black" not a racist statement at all but NBC turned it into being racist by editing it out. We now don't know anything about what really happened because the media lied about the case. That is not censorship that is protecting the rights of a person to being innocent until proven guilty. They ignored the AP Style of journalism which is one of the more respected firms when it comes to reporting because they stick to the facts of the case and tread very carefully around the legal system. I think Zimmerman would be able to sew NBC for libel when they messed with the 911 tapes.

Well I am glad that they are trying to do something, but this is a hard case to prove. I am sure that they can actually charge him, but in the end he may plea to a lesser charge and keep on going. I can see 2nd Degree, but with a jury having to look at facts and just the evidence that is there it will be really hard. I hope that they have some good evidence to at least try and get him convicted, because if not he walks and he can do it again or he will just like you said go into hiding and stay there. I mean he will get something hopefully especially since he disobeyed when they told him not to follow the boy and everything else. Who knows right? This is my take on it really I cannot say too much about it right now it is horrible and very sad.

I think the Second Degree were a bit harsh, I would go with manslaughter. I do think that the media and Sharpton and Jackson's emotions on the case, putting a photograph of the youth when he was only twelve did not help. I do think that even if Zimmerman proved his case, that he was following a stranger in his neighborhood who he thought was up to no good and that stranger attacked him, people would associate Traynor with that photograph and not the more recent one. Also the media has been putting this idea for some time, about the evil white man starting with the blonde blue eyed Nazi type to here we have this man who by his name is Jewish and is also part Mexican but because he has not the dark olive skin, they put him in the same category as those Nazi types. That is why the media did not say "a Jewish Mexican attacked Traynor. Just so with the Casey Anthony case, no one thought that a beautiful young lady would kill her own daughter. Well I suppose no one thought back in ancient Greece, that a beautiful young queen would murder her own children, but that is exactly what Medusa did. So in conclusion, it is best for the law to take its course and not confict or say someone is innocent unless the jury and the judge make their decision.

I think all this could have been avoided if Trayvon Martin had just said that he was lost, or was going somewhere without feeling he had to get so hot under the collar with the attitude of "how dare you question me for being in the neighborhood." I did not know about Zimmerman being part Peruvian and part German. I guess the Peruvian part makes it hard to say that this was a racist crime. Good thing that Zimmerman turned himself in. Bad thing that the judge let the media make the decision because she was possibly afraid if she did not charge Zimmerman with second degree murder instead of manslaughter or self-defense, there would be a riot. I will look at the link.

I was one of those who felt justice was not being handled when Zimmerman didn't get arrested.and who is Traynor? I assume you meant Trayvon Martin. See, the thing with me is that call with 911 or the Police that he had and the police told him specifically NOT to follow, yet still for whatever reason, he disregarded this advice, and then called the boy out of his name and everything else. This whole case reminds me of Emmett Till so much, well to some regard and since you may not know of that case, I included a link for your perusal. One more thing, Zimmerman is of German and Peruvian descent. I felt that that was a bit off with the way he was portrayed because I kept saying, come on, tell the darn truth. call the man what the man is. On the day, they put the warrant out for Zimmerman, I put on my Facebook status this statement: If you take a life, that is two lives gone. The one who is killed and never coming back and yours because now, your hunted and/or haunted. We can look at Trayvon Martin and feel no justice is being done. but I KNOW that in God's law, that young man is not at peace. If you got to run, hide after you say that you did something in self defense, and your followers abandon you, that is Gods law at work. plain and simple. It is going to be tough to prove the 2nd Degree. At most they may go with the lesser manslaughter depending on if he decides to make a plea bargain. From what I have been reading the stalking part of the 2nd Degree murder charge is going to be the hardest to actually prove. There is a very strong possibility that this will wind up like the Casey Anthony trial where she was found not guilty on the charges. Most of what the media has reported on the actual facts of the case has been highly inaccurate. So while people are ready to judge him guilty based on what has been portrayed in the media alone, most of those reports aren't the real facts in the case and aren't going to be presented in a court of law.

I'm not in the USA, so I have a very different perception of this incident. Mainstream media here isn't interested at all in a shooting in the USA so everything I've read about this case has been via the internet, and independent sources at that; Twitter and personal blogs or local small news sites. I pretty much avoid all mainstream media reporting. All those companies have agendas. While small scale journos and independent sources might also have an agenda to swing around they don't have the power and money to make a story totally one-sided. They're usually more honest about said agenda too. It's better to read about incidents like this from lots of different sources, and get varied versions, in my opinion.

He won't get a fair trial. Congresswoman Waters has called him a murderer and the whole Black Congressional Caucus has right along with her. Three networks tampered with 'evidence' and broadcast their version of it. They should be held accountable for their tampering with the tape of the 911 calls, both from Zimmerman and from his neighbor. I don't know if the sound was actually changed to reflect what he said (he said 'friggin COLD' not 'friggin C00N), but I do know parts were edited out to make it seem he was profiling. IF he gets off, there will be a repeat of the Rodney King verdict happenings, people may die. And you're right, his life will NEVER be the same, even if he's found innocent. I am praying for Trayvon's family and George Zimmerman's family. I am also praying for the town of Sanford. I hear things are really difficult there now.

I wrote a statement the morning of the announcement of the charges pending against Zimmerman stating that two lives were destroyed and/or taken. Trayvon's, who will never come back, and Zimmerman's, who at the time was haunted/hunted, because he couldn't work, go to school, live his life, nothing. he was reduced to making up a website asking for help in his upcoming defense to which he proclaimed that "the truth" would finally come out when the time came so you tell me, what kind of a life is that? NONE. then your own lawyers you hired, you won't talk to them, so they drop you a good day or two before the state of Florida decides to charge you? Oh, I feel that is God's law at work. In this world, there is a cause and effect no way about things. So ma'am, your right on the lives. On folks feelings towards Zimmerman, well, when you've been denied basic things as African Americans have, when stuff like this come up, you will see a whole lotta angry stuff come to the surface because for so long we have had to swallow it and now it's caught in our throats. just my take. And my thoughts and prayers are to both families and the town because this is such a sad situation.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I'm also sorry you feel as you do about the black community having been denied things, what sort of things? I feel as a human being, the whole human race has gone nuts. There is so much hate in the world. It seems as if, instead of getting closer to God, we've all run the other direction. I see you are the type of person who can empathize, who can reason, because you do understand how the actions of one can effect everyone. You can see how Zimmerman's life is ruined, as well as how Trayvon's life is gone and his family is mourning. You also see how God's law works, I think. My take on this is that we heard about this through the media, and I wonder what the motives are of those who are keeping it in the media. I wonder why the major networks thought it proper to edit the 911 call and leave out the dispacter's asking Zimmerman what race the person was. I wonder why other young people are killed and hurt everyday in our country and the media and community leaders ignore it? It is not taking away from the seriousness of this particular case to wonder these things if you are the sort of person who feels EVERY violent act, every case of racism, every life ruined is important. Is it? This is a sad situation. For our entire country. I think we have been shown that forgiveness and the love of God is what would heal the wounds, the hurt and the despair. I remember MLK's words. It's time we start back in the direction towards God.

Great! After all these uproars and protests by several thousand of people across the land, the Florida DA office finally realize that is their duty to deliver justice for a violent crime victim. After several weeks had passed and the shotting scene is left unsecured, the governor of Florida begin to appoint a special prosecutor to look into this case and decided to file charges aginst the shooter, at least the special prosecutor believe she has enough evidence to charge him with second degree murder and look ready to go to trial, an official police investigation is finally opened by the Sanford police department after ten days had passed since the shooting. Filing a formal murder charge is at this moment is one thing, whether the special prosecutor can obtain a conviction or not is another, after all most of the evidence left in the crime scene had been contaminated and gone, it will be very dificult for the prosecutor to prove her case within the legal framework, chances are high the case will plead out between both parties to a lesser charge. If this holligan get himself a good lawyer, he may even get off with no guilty verdict.
