Darned Shop. My Cheese!

I'm a fussy git. I am. I'm Dutch, I was raised on Dutch cheese. When I was younger here in Ireland it was a nightmare trying to get proper Dutch cheese. You'd find lots of Edam and Gouda everywhere, but in the little black rimmed circle on the packaging it was always UK or DE or other countries - not made in NL! And it was never the same as real Dutch cheese. In recent years, SuperValu and Tesco have both started stocking the real Dutch cheese with the NL in their little circle. Today, I went to SuperValu to pick up some Croissants and cheese for breakfast and guess what? They've changed their cheese!. I'm unimpressed. I'm annoyed. Right there, on the packaging - 'Made in Germany'. How can it be Dutch cheese if it's fricken German?! It's simply not! The Germans just can't make cheese. As a regular customer and now a disgruntled one I went to the assistant manager who happened to be lurking in the shop. She took note of my grievance and said she'd look into it. Glad we're sort of related (my man's brother's woman's sister lol)... So, how about you? Have you had a shop stop stocking something just as you got used to purchasing it from them?

I fell in love with the store brand of Blueberry Tea once and bought that stuff by the truckload..lol. There were no other brands and I never saw it before. I loved it. Then suddenly..it's gone. They discontinued it and to this day it burns me up when I think about it. I asked the store manager but she said they don't control the close outs. I may have to write the corporate office..I really loved that tea..did I already say that?

I definitely think that you're going to have to take that matter further Jen. That's just not on... I know exactly how you feel.

Hi TheIrishClog, Nope can't say that I have had one of those BUT, you have got me tongue tied and twisted just there for I can't for the life of me say that last sentence without stuttering and stumbling. Alliteration, anyone?!! IrishGal77 :)

Haha - "shop stop stocking something"... I had to go back and read it, tried it out loud and the other half thought I'd lost the plot!

I beg to differ, I was raised by German parents and I went to Germany and they do have some great cheese there. But I find the best cheese is made in Swizterland. The Dutch make good cheese too. Our local cheese especially those made in Quebec is also good.

Well, what I mean in saying that the Germans can't make cheese is that they can't make my cheese I've tried almost every country's imitation Dutch cheese such as Gouda and Edam and not one of them holds a candle.
