I just remember when I wa still in school and need money, my mother will bring her jewerly (earing, ring, necklace) to pawnshop and give me the amount I need. This only happened when there are emergencies especially when it is not yet payday. Whenever she had enough money to redeem it, she does and bring it again to pawnshops in times of emergencies.

Now, I haven't pawn anything since I started working. The main reason is, I don't have any jewelry that can be pawned except my wedding ring. hehehe. I don't used to buy gold jewelries. I rather prefer to borrow money with interest rather than sending anything to pawnshops.

Hello asdo i think we have almost the same fate (before). Now, I couldn't hold anymore but to pawn whatever I have as long as pawnshop could get it. Sometimes paucity is man's greatest pressure in life, especially if any member of your family really demands cash..but there's another problem with that after your after accepted. At redemption time, another pressure for you to look for money to renew of redeem the items, huh!! what a life of paucity... i really hate it.. Thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 041712

You are right, you have been saved by the cash you get from what you pawns but after two or three months, you need to provide enough money to redeem. As far as I know if you don't have enough money, you can just pay the interest and you will have another two or three months. You can do this method as long as you don't have enough money to redeem your item.

I used to pawn my jewelry whenever I was in a financial dilemma. The last time I pawned my earrings was in 2006 and unfortunately I wasn't able to get these back. Worst case scenario, I would borrow money than pawn any of my jewelry. Or try to sell something first. The pieces that I have now are the ones that my mom gave me and she passed away last year, so even the thought of losing just one piece breaks my heart. I guess even in the direst of circumstances, I will never part with my jewelry. Most of the pieces that I pawned I have never been able to get back. And pawnshops don't do justice when in comes to valuating the pieces.

Yes my friend I understand that. That's what I mean on the "but.." in my discussion. Your money problem would be solved upon accepting the pawn items but the problem would if you can redeem it back especially if money for that redemption would still out in your wallet...Most likely the items will be forfeited if it would not be renewed.. Thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 041812

Exactly my reasons why I don't want to pawn anything because chances are I won't be able to redeem it. Or if I am able to redeem it, the diamonds might be replaced with inferior or fake ones. Pawnshops here in my country do that and I know a lot of friends who would just cry in the pawnshop when they redeem their jewelry because even at first glance they know that the stones have been replaced. The pawnshop employees will just look at you coldly and feign innocence.

We have a pawn shop four block from our home and almost every time we drive somewhere and pass it my husband will say 'remember never go to that place ok babe' almost every time seems like he doesn't care how many time I heard him says that he said pawn can suck your money dry to the drain at least what he told me what happened to one of his friend. he has a friend who pawned something for $1500 and he ended up to pay back almost $4000. Knowing his friend story made me understand why he keeps remind me about not doing it all the time.

Yes I understand your hubby. It is good anyway for both of you. Well, we can't really tell what happens next year or two. Emergencies would never tell us before hand and when it involves money for the family we must do whatever we could to generate the said money especially if it matters the safety of our family members. Try and get some simple handyman jobs. Thinks like painting or cutting the grass in the neighbourhood. Even if it is just a bit of cash, so be it. It is a bit more than you had before. Ive never pawned anything because i never would get a true value for it.

Yes you have an idea on that my friend. But, sometimes we need enough money that corresponds on our needs and for me the quickest idea is the pawnshop. Thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 041812

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't suggest pawning stuff, in my culture that's bad luck. It's like not appreciating your things. So I'd rather borrow money instead and pay for interest like a responsible person. But it's up to you though. Pawning is bad luck bro.

Though we never believe in that for bad luck (sorry) but, you're right then. Sad to say all of our friend were already dried - up and so we came up on pawning our precious items to save us from our financial obligations... Thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 042212 1249

Hello:) I will admit I have been to pawn shops and have pawned something to pay bills with..Not much though. I was a single mom (now I have a long time bf) but working at a gas station and paying all the bills to an apartment wasn't easy.. I really hate do it,its not something I would do if I needed something other then to pay bills because obviously I wanted it that's why I bought it..so why would I want to give it to someone else.... I hope I never have to do it again...

Hi my friend, it couldn't really be avoided if certain occasion demands. Emergency is also another factor of what we might have to sell to generate money and pawning is one of the best ideas. Mobhomeir here 041812

dear Martin, No, because I don't have anything to pawn (hehehe) There are instances that I decided to sell my car due to high maintenance (although it's still not that high, she's still working pretty good and never gives me trouble) and high petrol price. But, I don't know each time I think of selling her, alternative way comes in, so she was spared many times :p I only borrow from friends- it's not a big amount anyway, and in few events when I am really out of budget. There are times I overlooked some extra expenses :xxx

Hello my bonita, I know money problems for you is just minimal because aside from pawning you have lots of friends and relatives whom you could ask for help plus your mom, right? I hope the last business I've heard from you before is still doing good. I want to try it also, how is it possible my bonita? PM me please... Mobhomeir still 041712

Before, I used to know that the only things can be sent to pawshops were jewelries and appliances. But now, I think gadgets like cellphones, laptops, and tablets can be also sent to pawshops.

Hello mobhomeir, pawnshop is very famous here because their interest is not too high and we are given 60 days to payback the money and if we still not able to pay then we can extend it up to 60 days and so on. But I dont have valuable things that i can pawn in the pawnshop, when I need money I ask my mom to give upfront allowance and my mom will cut the amount of my allowance every week, or else I can do extra job for her like helping her office work, I can get extra income by babysitting my sister's son because my sister and her husband are busy with work. Now Im trying to make craft and I hope I can sell my handmade to get extra income.

I never pawned anything, I was thinking about it, but I don't have anything that they accept. Plus the give so little for things and ask much more if I want to redeem them, that I don't know if they would be a big help in need. If I took something to the pawn shop I would have to accept the fact that I have a good chance that I don't get my item back... so I would rather sell it I guess.

Smart thinking my friend - it is because at times of redemption if you don't have money yet - still the same problem. Since you don't have money still it can't be avoided the idea of pawning your other items, right? Thanks for that logic... Mobhomeir here 041712

My parents use to do that. They invested on a set of jewelry that they can pawn in times of hardship. They also would do their best to get those back sooner, so the interest won't pile up badly. I've only done this once in my whole life, and it was a bracelet that I just saw lying on the streets. I was at my teens, then, and I needed to buy something, so I thought of bringing it to the pawnshop and get some money out of it. When I badly need money, I try to borrow from family and friends, first. That way, there's no growing interest and I just have to make sure I get to pay them back as promised.

I don´t think I have things that would be worth pawning. That is, I live within my need and that means that I will not buy just anything. But my family is helpful as financial needs go. I have had the need to hire house help while on chemo and I haven´t regained my strenght. My mother pays for part of her salary and my sister gives me a sort of monthly allowance for the extra meds I need.

Oh sorry for the chemo therapy you mentioned you must have a serious health problem. Get well soon my friend..well, it is good for you money is not really a problem with you. But for me, I don't have relatives that are nearer to me so I must find any other ways to produce my financial needs that's why pawnshop is my solution but, the next problem is when time comes you forcefully redeem the items or only be forfeited if you will no be able to pay the principal amount and the interest at the designated time for force redemption or just renew it. Thanks for responding my friend.. Mobhomeir here 041712

Hi friend, I never try to pawn and I don't have idea how pawnshop deal with those items. But its nice to know you can have source to solve your financial problems rather than ask someone else to lend some money for you. I admire you for that! When I'm in need of money I deal with my CC but very seldom because the interest rate kills me. Anyway friend take always. I hope you can do all things/cope up with all difficulties through God who strengthen you...

Hi my dear friend cloud, as what I thought Pawnshop are not available globally. As for me, the truth is I only run to pawnshop whenever all of my outside sources would run dry. I hate doing this because if you pawn any items you have only two month grace period to look for money again to redeem the items plus the interest. It is really a good business for those who have much money to invest this kind of business. It would be better if you just pawn it to a friend or make it only as a collateral to a certain amount of money borrowed. But since, our friends run out of cash sometimes, I am force to run - and no choice - to pawnshop. You have a good job i guess and I believe you have no problem with money unlike me my friend...i wrote a blog about what I had experience in my moment of paucity. I will just PM you( the link) if you want to read and please do some comments... Thanks for responding my dear friend..my dear BFF Mobhomeir here 041712

Borrowing money to someone is my last recourse in financial problems. But these days , things were also difficult for them so I had to pawn my favorite camera. I really don't like to do it but it was urgent.
