My birthday fell on a work day

It's my birthday today and I'm here at the office. And I'm really not liking it because birthdays are announced here so everybody's been greeting me and a few are asking for treats. I don't really mind treating people but only those who are my close and good friends. I don't like it when people who are not close to me are hinting me for treats. And what's a little annoying is that those people have salaries higher than me. They should be the ones to treat me. That's a joke. ^^ Anyway, I'm thankful for the Lord that I have survived another year and I am faced again with another year full of challenges and inspiration. I just wish something good will happen to me in this coming year especially here at work. So... everybody, you're invited to my birthday party!!!!!

Happy birthday secret bear, wishing you more love and blessings! Well it is also like that here, birthdays are posted on the bulletin board and people get to see your name and then they will great you and ask you for a treat which can be annoying especially if you do not have the budget for it Every birthday i would take a leave of absence

I wanted to absent, too! But I was not in the mood to go somewhere else. I wanted to go to work that day. That was why I kept wishing I to have field work during my birthday, just to escape the pleasantries which sometimes could really be awkward. But it was good that I decided to go to work because I was able to personally invite my friends for a simple celebration. And they couldn't say no.

Hehehe.. I am very lucky that my birthday always falls on the month where I don't have work. It's good because you are not obligated to smile all day with people you don't really like and say that you're happy they greeted you. Anyhow, just smile and act as if you're happy and touched for them greeting you and if they ask for a treat, tell them that it's their turn to treat you hahahaha.. HaPpY BiRthDaY!!

Thanks, laydee! I did just that! Smiled and asked them to treat me. That stopped them from asking treats from me.

hi dear secretbear so my happy Birthday wishes are a little late now as I havent been online much over the work week. Which treats did you bring along for your closer friends and colleagues? I turned 50 this year so I thought I bring along treats and e mail to the persons closer to me to come and get them some goodies but guess what the people in my department I have to work with all turned down the invitation. My true friends however came to celebrate........

Belated Birthday wishes!Hope you had a great day! I always have a holiday on my birthday because it is the day before New Year's Eve. More often than not we have our Christmas break which goes on till after New Year. So, I'm off then and can celebrate it with whoever I wish :-)

Happy belated birthday! Sorry you work around such rude people! Jeez they are asking for treats? Usually its the custom to get the birthday person treats or a little bit of money or some sort of gift, not beg them to give something. Wow the nerve of your coworkers!

Happy Birthday and may your birthday wish come true! I always wish for good for you. Our custom is the other way around, the person with the birthday gets the treats. Take care.

Happy Birthday to you, Secret. Hope you have a great day ahead. In fact, most of my birthdays are falls on working days. So, i am used to celebrate my birthday with my colleague before finally reach home and celebrate with my family. There are times where i have to apply leave to celebrate my birthday because my special one is giving me a treat. Most of the time, i don't receive gift but instead receives treats from my boss and colleagues. Don't your boss give any treat to his staffs during their birthday? Maybe you can give this suggestion to him and see is response.

Happy Birthday I do not celebrate my birthday , but my friends do it for me. My friends will invite me for a dinner and that is fine enough. But I am sure you also receive more gifts since your birthday falls on working days

Although I can not physically attend your birthday party, I still send my best wishes! Well, I still say to you today you may be as lucky to have a job in the office. Think of my case: I am at the age of 37 years, still unemployed, and, between ourselves the possibilities I find a job in the future, are virtually nonexistent. However, having said that, I certainly did not lose spirit. I want to live my life for the things that it offers to me.

When I was young, I ever had a day off in my birthday. Since I didn't want my mood would be spoiled since it was my birthday. It should be a big day:) Now it doesn't matter that I have to work in my birthday. Since I grow up and become much more responsible. And the birthday doesn't mean a lot for me now. I love China

I never work on my birthday, if it falls on a day that I should work I book it off so I can have a day with my family. I know some work places when its someones birthday, they have to bring on cakes/treats on their birthday. Where I work we dont really celebrate birthdays unless its a big birthday/celebration.

Hi, you are blessed because your birthday falls on a work day and that means that you are a successful person for having a job. Yes, that is usually the case co-workers usually ask for a treat but it depends upon you if you will fall on their tags.. he3.. but it is also good to just treat them even just 1gallon of ice cream or a soft drinks with slice bread.. he3.. just a cheap treat but trust me your office-mate will be happy with that treat. You are lucky that someone is happy with your birthday. Enjoy and be good.. he3

This is ironic because most of the company I have worked with gave me the benefit of a birthday leave, when I would rather spend it working. It's odd I know, but I guess that's just the way I am. I don't mind people asking for birthday treats especially those who really isn't close to me because they can't do anything whether I decide to treat them or not. I guess I am wired to be that way. But hey, happy birthday and may you have a good one. More years to come.
