what should be prioritized first, school or work?

I've been mind-bugged with this question since I am a working student and the past few days I need to decide on what to pursue. Either I leave my job because my internship at the bank would be eating up a lot of time or maintain both of them but almost killing myself for working from 8 am - 10 pm without the 2 hour travel time i need to endure on my way to both and going home. Still I decided to kill myself by maintaining both because I love my part-time job. I was just wondering if you were in this situation, what would you have done?

When I was back in college, I almost the whole day in school so it was very hard to even thing of working. If I was to choice between the two, I would choice to study first or look for a job which is less demanding but if you can manage to do both without compromising any of them or your health, then I think it is ok to continue doing both.

Sorry, I do not know what I was thinking when I responded to your discussion. I have grammar error and missed words all over the response. I ommitted the word spent after I almost, I wrote was instead of if I were, thing instead of think and choice insted of choose. Oop, I guess I need to take a break. Sorry for that.

I'm going to make a different suggestion that are people have made. It seems as though the logical choice is school. You said in your post... I love my part-time job. Keep your job and take a break from everything else. If the priorities in your life are about what you love and enjoy doing you will create a very happy lifestyle for yourself. Some people think success is earning a degree. I believe success is in doing what you love and enjoy so your can be happy for yourself...and...radiate that happiness in a way that you inspire others.

If you are loaded, you can concentrate on your school as you have no worries over school fee. But if you think school fee is burdening you, you can have a job first, then continue your study. This way you have salary to pay your school fee.

Obviously school. Finish the studies first and then concentrate on work. Its not easy to do both jobs simultaneous.

It depends on your situation. If you are financially-well-off, you can leave the job. If you need the money from the job, you really are in between a rock and a hard place. But you said that you love your part-time job and you still want to stay in school, you can ask your manager to lessen the amount of work you render at the bank. Be honest and tell him that you have been having difficulty marrying your school and work...but you still want to work. also, keep in mind that your performance at both places will be affected. ask for consideration on the matter or negotiate terms. I am assuming that the manager or anyone responsible in the bank knows your situation. If you are in the banking industry and you plan to continue your work there, you might miss the chance of a seamless transition from school to work. Update me if anything happens.

yes it would get affected but i will try to manage. my bosses in both companies are very considerate. actually the bank i was mentioning was part of school because i would be having my internship and my work is a part time ESL Instructor. I already asked for some consideration and they did by lessening an hour from my shift in work and from my internship lessening it by 1 hour also. thank you for the advice. I will keep you updated. :)

you are an intern at bank you are also a part-time worker ,so you feel very tired .well if currently you need money ,then you should carry the job,if doesn't you should give up the part-time job.because you don't have enough time or energy for both of them .

In this case, school is about college study. I think it depends on your own situation. Your situation may vary with other. Willingness to continue your study, financial condition, and family support may affect your decision. Some people can continue their study and doing part time work to support their financial need for study. There's two option, first it taking part time work, second is taking evening college class. So It just about choice you own take. The most important thing is you must be able to manage your schedule wisely. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.

a pleasant day yrallih, with reference to your main topic, if i will be placed in your situation, i will rather choose to study first and finish my course. that although i love my part time job, i will still choose to finish the course that i am enrolled with. so that, in time, i can easily get a career with high paying salary. not only that, the chance of promotion is possible if i will have the degree the soonest i finish my college course. hence in this way, it will be easy for me to hit my goal.

i used to be a working student too, but i had to give up my job because i was getting really busy with school already that time. i am actually on that same situation right now but not just about school. i want to work so i can pay for all my paper works and training because i don't want to depend already. but i am like battling with time. like a lot of time is being wasted because up to now, i still cant find a job

Better we should concentrate on school first. We can be interested with studying when we are still young, when we are older, we will be lazy with it and it is really hard for us to study also. After school, we can concentrate on working to earn money. If you really need money for you study also, you can do both at the same time. Many student did it well but the priority is still studying. We won't die of doing both works..lol.. just be smart to be manage your time and take care your health. Hope you can do well both works...

It is best to prioritize schooling because work can come after you finished a degree or a certain course. If you got a diploma its much easier for a person to look for a job

If you can manage both, then keep it up. Its always a fun thing for students to earn while they study. Perhaps, you can make adjustments on your school schedule to accomodate time you need to be at work. As you go through each day, Im sure you'll be able to adjust and adapt to your routine. If things get worse on either or both, then you should choose between them and focus on it.

I think school is a more important thing to concentrate on. Because although the experience of working is good and will benefit you, school is what will give you the qualifications and the knowledge to get you to your goal and your ideal career in the futue, whatever that may be. Also the stress of this much may have a negative affect on you and start to get to you.
