I suggest you to get a lab. I used to have a lab, and she was really a good and intelligent dog and can be easily trained.

I also would suggest the lab. I have had German Shepherds and loved them, but they are very protective. We had one that was very protective of me, when a friend came in through the back not the front like the dog was used to, the dog went after him. I got him under control, but he knew that was not the way to come into our house and he did not like it. Both dogs can be trained but I think the lab would be better if you have a lot of people around you.

A lab seems better unless you want a guard dog for your house.. I want to get one too soon :/.

What you should do is talk to a breeder or an animal shelter about the two breeds your looking at. Both are good dogs but you need to find the right dog for your personality and not all labs and germ sheperds are right for everyone. You need to make sure you have the space and time for both of these dogs. Labs are a bit more laid back then a german sheperd but both are working dogs as well. Both dogs need activities they you need to look at there age. Every dog has a different personality some will mesh well with you and others won't.
