Last Will

Have you written a Will? I did it years ago and it was a big mistake. Because, things change. I am not in the same financial position I was in before. So, as of now, I don't have any money to leave to anybody. Also, people die or move far away. And I feel differently now about where I want my (non-existent) money to go. Finally, with all of the work that has to be done (probate) before my beneficiaries see any of that money, I think it is better to just let the state take what little I have. How do you feel about it?

Interesting point - What are the legalities if that will was to be enforced? Could you become in debt after dying? Promising money that you don't have! Committing fraud from the grave? It sounds like a joke but I fear that the legal profession could do a lot of monstrous things in such a situation. A plot for a hollywood thriller perhaps? I'm like you having nothing to leave, so I wont worry!

"Promising money that you don't have...". Interesting thought. But, in a will you are designating WHAT IS LEFT OVER after other expenses. If their is nothing left, the will is null and void.

i say that if you have to write what little you have down on a napkin and form a will, do it. don't let the state take anything of yours. i am thinking about writing a will since my finances have changed.
