How do you cope up with wrong email sent?

I had a funny experience last night. This is with my second job as a event planner. I was about to send a proposal through e-mail to one of my clients regarding the package that they can take advantage of as one of our sponsors. They're really looking forward to it because this is about to happen in the next few days. I was doing it in one of my work PC. I open email the usual way; search for "sent items" and edit minor things in the message. One last thing; I remembered to attached the proposal specifically for them. But too late; I sent the wrong proposal to them. It was from the sent items; it figures and it should be for a different company. I was so remorsed. Howcome it doesn't have any UNDO button. And come to think of it; this action CANNOT BE UNDONE. It tooked me three (3) times to send the correct e-mail and this is not good. Have you experienced this issue in the office? Share your thoughts and best practices about it. Thanks!

I did and numerous times! Thank goodness I was using Microsoft Outlook at work so there's a "Recall Message" function. One funny thing that happened to me is that we're planning for a company outing and we're all deciding on a date. I was tasked to be their itinerary planner so I sent out an email to the group (we have this group distribution thing where all users are placed in once group. Makes group email sending easier). Thing is, I forgot that our vice president is recently included in our group email! We were surprised that she replied with "Can I come with you guys?" and this was during office hours! It's a good thing she didn't get angry that we're talking about our outing during office hours :P And it's also a good thing that we sent our "planned leaves" schedules on a separate email or else she'll notice that we have a pattern on taking planned leaves. Lolz!

Awts.. I really envy you; all Microsoft Outlook users~!! So it is tested and proven that there is a certain Undo send tasks in there in which they wouldn't allow to view it first after five (5) minutes? Hope AOL and yahoo has those commands.

You and I wish on the same thing. Actually the "Recall" function also has it's fall back. Those items that are opened by the received BEFORE you recall them will be read. So if they were able to read the wrong email, even if you recall it, it will stay in their inbox :( And even if you used outlook to send out emails, you cannot recall those that are sent to Yahoo or Gmail or other non-Outlook mails. This "recall" function strictly works with Microsoft Outlook :(

If you use Microsoft Outlook I would suggest you set a delay on your emails being sent out. This will prevent such occurrences ever happening again. I have my email on a 5 minute delay so I have a chance once I hit send to make sure my attachments are correct etc.

Thanks for the share. Maybe I shoud start using Microsoft outlook. My laptop is down and outlook is not working properly along with my MsWord so I'm not pretty sure how to work with this program. Do they have a web-based outlook?

ah yes, this has happened to me a couple of times, message sent wrongly to someone and if you are using microsoft outlook or lotus notes, there is always a chance to recall the messages... but then if you are using an online email... there was just no possibility of taking it back. i think you raising it as a point is valid. we ought to actually ask the email companies if they can do this. hehe like a confirmation before an email is sent, etc... =)
