Stephen King's "On Writing" is one of the book that I read and re-read whenever I need an inspiration to continue with my writings. It has become one of the most inspiring books about writing for me in a way. Have you read it yet? Does it inspire you with your writing as well? What do you think of the book?

Hello ladyhemingway I have read Stephen King's, "On Writing". I really enjoyed this book. I especially appreciated how Mr. King says that if we want to write, just write!! Also, that we do not need the approval of others' standards before we can be regarded as a writer. Rather, Mr. King points out that if we write, then we are writers. I found the book inspirational and gracious.

IF WE WRITE, THEN WE ARE WRITERS. That's really amazing. I am so worried of others' judgements and critique of my own writing, that for years I have thrown away notebooks upon notebooks or my poetry, songs, ramblings, journal entries, stories. I am so self conscious of my work that I get embarrassed when I read it and I trick myself into thinking everyone will think it's horrible. I regret it. I really need to read that book to give me some encouragement. :)

Hello PageTurner, I am glad to hear that you found the book inspirational the same way I do. Just like LovelyxOdd, I tend to be worried by other people's judgement on my writing. Some say that you cannot be called a writer if you do not have published work or works yet. Though I have published some of my writings to our local newspapers sometimes I fell a bit intimidated by others who has been in the industry for a long time now. But thanks for reminding me about this gem on the book.

Hello LovelyxOdd. I hope that you do read the book. I think that you will glean much from it. Hello ladyhemingway. Thanks for reminding me of this book. I really enjoyed it and I wish that I still had it, but I gave it away to someone who, I thought, would appreciate it as well.

I own this book. I have not read it, but I have been meaning to for years. I have heard it is very good actually, my mother read it and told me I would like it. Supposedly it is not just about writing, he gives information about how he came to write certain books of his, etc.

I forgot to add, I enjoy writing as well. And I want to read it for the benefit of my own writing. If anyone could give good advice on what it's like to write a book, it would definitely be Stephen King - he has written plenty! Haha.

Hello LovelyxOdd, I agree it is a good book and I really like it. It is not the type that teches writing per se, but rather it is more on dishing out inspiration through the stories on how the great writer Stephen King became a writer. Good luck on your writing and I do hope to read your works in the future! Happy myLotting!

It was a great tool and it gave me such great writing advice and at the same time it was a stephen king novel, it really told you who stephen king was and not another one of his stories though and gave you the perspective of a Millionaire novelist. I was impressed with it and frankly I loved it.
