Same discussion, same title too

What would you feel if somebody made a discussion very very similar to your discussion? And the title is not just almost the same, but is really the same?
Well, I created a post a discussion about ice cream and when I checked the latest discussion about ice cream, I clicked on the name, and when I already opened it, I found out that it was just the same title with me and the same topic with me.
Its kinda confusing. Anyways, mylotters, what can you say about this? If you were in my position what would you feel?

I've read all of the discussions and the advice you have received is 100% correct. I would just like to point out that sometimes when an issue comes up in the news that is "hot" or really interesting, shocking, upsetting, etc., lots of people write about it, and the search engine to look up discussions might not be completely up to date. So perhaps the error was unintentional...one can only hope, anyway!

You are correct but your observations are not applicable in this particular case because the 'copy-cat' topic appeared immediately after the original in the list in the particular interest. The user conncerned had responded on that topic too so was therefore absolutely fully aware that their own topic was identical

That's a shame (and somewhat incredible!).
At least it was caught and hopefully the person won't do it again.

I would report it using the (!) under the topic and with a link to my discussion.
I suggest that is what you should too.
I would do it immediately - in fact I just did!
On myLot we have to be original and this is not a place for copy-cats

Isn't it great to have so many friends who can tell you exactly what to do in this situation. Their advice is consistent, and it is what I would have told you as well. You also have to watch out from time to time for people selecting a phrase and copy pasting it into lots of other discussions.
Sometimes people know stuff is wrong, but they do not believe they will get caught so they try it anyway.

zaga__cleuth hi I know diana has already told you but plagiarism is not tolerated in the US as its against the law but also is a no no on mylot. so hit the exclamation point and report the user as we are all supposed to be creative for ourselves. this must be reported as its a serious breach of rules here.

well i have a discussion started a very long time ago, and then i see a lot of it, with the same title heheh and i even respond to them but i don't report them. i am not sure if i really should report them...

To be honest, fortunately, at least until now, nobody has copied my discussions. However, in this connection, I noticed something unusual. Many dated as recent discussions, in fact I've already read and commented in the past long ago. I do not know whether Mylot proposes that, or are the same people who make it a copy / paste.

This is the very bad thing if someone using same topic to discuss. You should have to complain for this. This is against the guidlines.

mine was deleted. i think i know who reported it. anyways, with all due respect, i don't think we in the right position to call someone a copycat. because as for me, i didn't really know i had the topic with the other person's. i am new here, i wasn't able to read all of the discussions that has been started yet. if my topic was deleted because of plagiarism or what so ever, fine, but it wasn't my intention to copy.

For me I do not get mad as long as we are still able to talk about the topic is okay with me after all I am not after my own post but also after the knowledge I can learn from the topic that I have created may it be copied by others or not it's alright I don't stress myself out of it.
