Don't kill human beings, but go ahead and slaughter all other living creatures!

I really wonder who came up with such a twisted concept. I hope I don't give the impression that I want human beings murdered, because I don't; on the contrary, I'm all for the preservation of every life on the planet, maybe even the universe. But why is it okay to legally take the lives of animals, birds and plants without any remorse or regret? Isn't every life worth the same? Yes, you might argue that only humans have consciousness, and that is the reason behind such 'scruples'. But there have been several instances that show that other forms of life have certain consciousness as well. To state one such example, in an experiment, it was seen that when one plant in a room had its branches cut off, the others in the vicinity showed signs of fear and urgency(not human signs, of course.) Another is that plants scream when their leaves are plucked or roots pulled. There have been many other such scientific pieces of evidence to support this argument. Sure, certain species are being protected because they're in danger of being wiped out completely, but we humans are definitely not on the verge of extinction, are we? Shouldn't we protect EVERY species of flora and fauna, as much as possible?

Since we need nature (plants, animals) we should protect them all.. there is no life, no harmony without. Nobody ever said don't kill human beings, feel free to kill the rest. The only thing human beings think is they are better, have more value as the rest of the world around us.

Well, you get thrown in jail if you kill humans don't you? What about if you kill a chicken? Do the cops chase you down? At least where I live, they don't. That is what I mean - Why not? Is a chicken's life worth less than a human's? That's not fair, is it?

I guess this branch from the thinking that humans are the highest human living things and he acclaim of religion that man is beloved creature of God. Also, the fact that God speaks to us compared to other creature. I think these mindsets is good enough for other people to acknowledge our race as superior to everything else (like Mother Nature) and gives us the unique power to do things as we see fit. However, I don’t really subscribe to these things, time and time again, we see humans at the mercy of nature or at the mercy of other ‘lesser’ beings like animals. The thing is, when an animal hurts a human due to instinct, we put it down because we fear that they might harm us. But other people, in my opinion, are more harmful to their fellow human beings than an other animal. As the appointed steward of Nature and all creation, we are supposed to nurture nature (I think that’s a pun). However, we put our needs and wants first before other creatures because of a certain superior mindset of humans. We thought before that our resources will never end, but now we are mistaken about it. How much we are mistaken about other things?
