Who are you, really? Do you hold back your true self?

How many times have you found yourself singing or dancing when no one is around? Is your true personality buried deep within you? Do you hold back emotions? What does the word "freedom" mean to you?

I think we are all that way to a point. I used to sing when I was alone but not much anymore.

Because my daughter kept making fun of me. When I lived Aline I sang a lot. I couldn't have been too bad vi used to sing in the choir at church and sing an occasional solo.

Why do you think you stopped singing? Did you intentionally stop for a reason?

Hi dubbc, I have to actually say that I am a not a fraud by any means...I believe that if you be yourself your life can really be yours and you don't feel like you are living for someone else.. I always believe in keeping it real...its the only way.....

That's good bjc! Most people hold back. Sometimes, I think as soon as the first person ridicules our personality, we tend to internalize negative comments about ourselves. "Keeping it real" as you said, isn't easy for everyone. People attack each other's self esteem daily. I believe in living life outloud, but I admit I don't always do or say everything I feel. We are human. At some point in our lives, we care or cared about what others think about us.

Yes dubbc, people do attack each others self esteem daily, but know who you are is "keeping it real"...we can not let other rules the way we live our life... Knowing ourselves and being true to our feelings and ourselves gives others ideas of who we are...our character... Internalizing our emotions caused ulsers... I am not saying we should listen to others but we have to be true to our own selves, We can not live in this world alone but we have to be in control of ourselves

It happens sometime, dancing I mean, but it's because I feel like doing it. Sometimes I even dance while I'm with others, mostly people I know. It's a nice journey trying to discover your true self and not an easy one. Thinking about all the things you never did because of what other may think and maybe the things you lost because of that. From my experience people will always criticize so if they are going to do it no matter what you choose, than choose to do what you really want.

I like this response! Yaaaay! Youre right! People are going to talk about you anyway. Might as well do as you feel!

About myself I know that I'm way too self-conscious, and I'm always trying to live up to others' expectations... and when I do something without thinking and realise how good I feel, it's always a really empowering feeling, but at the same time, I get kind of scared about why I can't be like this every single moment (sometimes I'm even thinking about how and where to keep my hands when I'm on the underground and stuff...).

I can relate. Isn't that sad? We should be free to be who we are at all times. It just feels so good to do exactly what is in us to do. Good things, of course. Not evil.
