MyLot Topics | I can't relate

How often do you stumble some non-sense topics or topics which you can't relate here in mylot? Do you still respond on those topics just to earn money even though you can't relate or the topic is non-sense? For me, I don't respond on topics which I can't relate or topics which already been posted many times here in mylot or topics which don't interest me at all. I always look for topics that triggers my curiosity and most of all topics which I got lots of things to say, something very interactive. How about you?

I only respond to a discussion if I'm interested in the topics. If I can not relate, I just don't know what to reply... I can't put a single sentence together if I have no idea what I'm talking about. But I can't even have a word as I'm lazy to start my own discussions.

I can see that. .LOLS, you have responded to a lot of discussions already but your rank is 898 which means you don't create discussion a lot. But you are right, it is really hard to find a word to say if you can't relate to a discussion. I am glad you responded to my discussion which means you did somehow relate with it. Thank you

I would not want to respond to topics that don't interest me, and also if it's written in a manner I can barely understand. It's harder to squeeze your brain out for something you have no idea about than browse for other topics available. I also don't appreciate people responding to my discussions with no substance.

That is true, I tried respond to a topic which I can't relate once and it is really hard to think of a word or a sentence to say. I just end up looking for some topics. I situational topic, topics about reality, topic that shows important notice or information, something like that.

hi nagatron1 of cou rse there are topics I cannot relate too like soccer, cricket, football, religion and politics as those last two are so highly controversial that you risk being flamed out of mylot over any response you make., if you are a democrat the republicans will jump all over you, if you are a republican the democrats will chew you up. I am choosy w hat I do respond to and it helps me always to not get flamed or insulted.

Hi Auntie! If I have no idea what they are talking about I will leave it alone. I'm pretty picky too. I have my circle of friends I stay with mostly, and then branch out a little from there to new people, new discussions.

Yeah you are right Haltley, I am also being choosy to discussion and I always watch everything I said. PointlessQuestions is right, we have both the same style but I only leave the discussion alone of there is nothing I can do anymore like a run out of things to say. I am not a type of person who easily be contented with one line response.

I only answer when I have something to stay which is relevant to the topic. When I don't understand a question or the whole thing is about something I don't know (foreign soap operas, soccer championships, sites I don't know about), I'm not going to answer. OK, it's good to earn money, but for me it's a pastime, and I wanna we have fun with it :).

Yeah you are right, it is very important that something you post is relevant to the topic by that way you contributed something to the topic which is something that mylot like the most. Happy mylotting

Of course I don't respond to topics I can't relate to or don't interest me but I've never yet stumbled upon a completely non-sense topic here.People have different interests and views and the good thing about MyLot is that it's a place for everyone. If I can't find a topic to respond to in my interest I'd check out the new ones or the ones that don't have responses yet.Although I'm new I find that it's fairly easy to find a topic that is interested although it's really hard to actually find one where my opinion would be of some value...

I know we have different interest but believe me there are non-sense topics here sometimes and these topic are questions that answers "yes" or "no", topics like "what is your age", "what is love", "how old are you" and so on. Weeks ago I stumbled on some topic asking about "what is love for you?" I mean this question had been asked a million times already here in mylot since I started here 2006 and people here in mylot are getting tired of responding such questions so that is one example of a non-sense topic for me. I don't know about others.

No I don't because how can I post something if I can't relate to the discussion, what are the things I will say if I can't know the meaning of the topic. There are discussions too that sometimes you can't understand i don't respond them either.
• Philippines

Yeah that is true, but there are users who just respond on topics even if they can't relate for the sake of $0.01. They just respond to topics by just saying "yes I agree" or "very nice topic, I agree with you", and so on. I mean, how can you connect to these response right? Thank you so much for the response. Happy mylotting.

I only respond to a discussion if I am interested in the topic and feel that I have something to say about the topic. Sometimes my friends start discussions about topics that I don't know much about. If I find the topic interesting I read the discussion but I don't respond, because I don't know enough about the topic to write a good response. One of my friends start many sport discussions, but I don't respond to them because my knowledge about sport is very limited. I like unique discussions where people describe their own lives and their own experiences, because most of the discussions about general topics have be done before, and it is not that interesting to write about a topic that I have already written about many times in the past.

I can see your point there my friend and you gave me another topic to be discussed. Well it is really hard to find a topic that all of us can relate because most general topics have already been tackled and discussed before. But I think describing or sharing your own interesting event in life is also a good way to start a nice discussion which most of us can relate right? In that way we will run out of interesting topics to be discussed. Thank you for such a wonderful response, it gives me another idea.

Even if I try to comment in every discussion I get it does not mean I will leave comments for everyone of them. If I got nothing to do with the topic I will not going to say anything. Like if its about something new and I don't have experience on it I would rather just read others comments who knows about it so that I can learn something new. No matter if the discussion comes from my friends or not if I can't relate it with myself, I will leave it and go to the next one.(^^)

I wouldn't normally see a discussion that didn't hold a little interest, because I only see discussions the details of which are emailed to me by mylot. But if you can think of a snazzy comment on something, even if you don't understand the subject, you might bluff your way into getting it accepted.

I mainly respond to topics that interest me. I have a circle of friends who write some pretty good discussions about what goes on in their lives. I like those kinds of discussions. I don't like the ones that try to poll your answers.. like what kind of ice cream you like or something. I like discussions that I really have something to say. And about pay... the more we interact the more we earn. So I might even just go slumming (going to discussions I'm not interested in) just to reach my payout if nothing else is on the board.

Exactly PointlessQuestions, those are the common topics I sometimes stumbled here in mylot like what you have said about "what kind of ice cream you like", "want pizza?", and so on. These are the question that don't interest me at all although these are not non-sense questions but don't interest us at all. I am glad it is not only me who feels something like this. Thank you for the response.

I just want to clarify also that the purpose of this topic is not to hurt others or to flame other users which is I am aware that it is against mylot guidelines. Instead, this topic is some sort of wake up call to users who are still posting non-sense discussions or topics. What do I mean about non-sense discussions or topics? These are the topics or discussion that violate mylot guidelines like posting a topic that is answerable by "yes" or "no" or topics like "How old are you?" or "what is your age" and other topics similar to that. This would also encourage other users to be mo interactive to their discussion/topics and responses. See mylot guidelines for more information about Do's and Don'ts about discussions if you are new to mylot. http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx So again this topic is not meant to flame other user, it is just a collection of opinion from other user to wake us up and to help mylot showcase good topic to the search engine. Happy mylotting to all.

That's not flaming, so don't worry about that. Also don't worry. Those kinds of discussions don't last long. They get deleted because of being against the rules. There are LOTS of discussions about guidelines but so many people still don't pay attention.

I don't ever at all response to topics that doesn't interest and those that I cannot relate to. I encounter these kinds of discussions many many times and I just only respond to the ones I can relate to.

i do not respond to topics which i dont have any knowledge of or i find uninteresting. i also respond to topics which i think i can have an opinion about but with regards to those that i dont know, i dont respond just for the sake of earning money.

That is very nice to know zaskasahagun, besides if you can find a topic that gives you so much things to say, the earnings would be much better plus it saves you from spending too much time just to earn big.

I only respond to topics that interest me. I'm not here solely to make money, I'm here because I like to spend time on the computer and read about stuff that interests me. For me it is rather pointless to respond to topics that don't interest me as well as being a waste of time as I could be using that time to respond to topics that are of interest to me.

You are right and you have a point there, it is nice to respond on topic that catches our interest in that way we can respond at our best.

If I find a discussion I don't like or can't relate too (usually drama) I usually leave the discussion and move on to another.

No,I don't respond to topics which don't raise my interest;if there are days in which I find very few discussions related to topics I can relate to,I prefer to leave mylot and focus on other activities. As for topics which keep on repeating I try to answer them even if that means that ideas expressed in those posts are generally similar because I think it's inevitable for some topics not to be repeated from time to time.I do that until I get completely bored of those repeating topics;in that case I leave them for good.Anyway,I usually identify a topic that has no interest for me whatsoever from its title,so I don't even bother myself to read its content,I simply move on until I find something interesting for me.
