What is a myLot rank of 500 or more?

I usually go on myLot on mobile more than I do on my pc. Sometimes I'm having trouble with posting on myLot because I get that error message that I can't copy-paste messages to avoid spam unless I have a rating of 500 or more when I'm responding for the first time on some discussions. What does that mean rank of 500 or more? I read on a discussion here that if you've posted above 500 responses, then you can copy paste. But then I see some members with rankings. (ranked 13254 in questions and answers). that kind of thing. I never understood that. What does it mean, and how do I actually hit that 500 rank mark thing? Happy myLotting!

Maybe it is time that you took a look at the FAQs, here for example:

You will have the privilege of copy/paste once your user activity rating (the number beside your name) reaches 500 - which is almost now.
Please be aware that this is a privilege and not a licence to copy/paste from other sites. That is not allowed and will cause you to lose your account.
By the way, that number is not a post count because not all of your activity causes it to increase. It just represents how active you have been.

Oh thank you for explaining that. It certainly seems as if it counts my posts, and I did wonder about two times yesterday why when I was posting, it woudn't hit the 500 mark. I do value my account here and I don't really care if I'm earning or not because I learn so many things and I like sharing opinions with other people from all over the place. It's still very very interesting to me. It's just a bit of a letdown sometimes when I've been myLotting on my phone and typing in this really long response and then I get that 500-rank spam protect error message thing, then I lose all interest. Once I even dared retyping everything all over because I really wanted to share a point in one of the discussions. That cost me some energy. Sometimes, in some posts I feel strongly about, I cross my fingers and pray that my response goes through. Now I experienced the same thing earlier. :(

Well you have reached it now so you should not have that problem any more 
Your number increases only when you:
- start a new topic, after it receives 2 responses (or 1 response + 1 comment)
- respond for the first time on a topic started by others
- comment for the first time on a topic started by others.
ALL of your activity counts towrads earnings regardless of whether or not your number increases because the two are not related.
It decreases when your posts are deleted due to violations.
Your number increases only when you:
- start a new topic, after it receives 2 responses (or 1 response + 1 comment)
- respond for the first time on a topic started by others
- comment for the first time on a topic started by others.
ALL of your activity counts towrads earnings regardless of whether or not your number increases because the two are not related.
It decreases when your posts are deleted due to violations.

'User Rating' is the number in brackets next to your name.
The privilege of being able to copy and paste in discussions was set up because many people were abusing the facility by pasting large quantities of copyright material and passing it off as their own.
Unfortunately, many mobile phones work on the principle that text which you enter is 'buffered' and then pasted into the response dialog on the web page (even though this may not be apparent to you). This automatically alerts the system and may prevent you from posting.
There were quite a number of complaints about this some time ago but, I believe, some changes were made to the system and the complaints seem to have reduced. I think that many people no longer have this problem when using a mobile phone to post on MyLot but it may depend on which operating system you are using.
