Valiant efforts by the last West Indies pair of captain Sammy and Shillingford to turn the tables on Australia fell short by 75 runs but the way two were batting putting on 49 runs for the last wicket, the hopes of many W.I. supporters were raised that the pair may snatch a most improbable victory for W.I.. West Indies however can hold their heads high in defeat the way they fought till the last. The main difference between the two sides was the way Australian tail wagged in the first innings. From seven down for 169, Wicket keeper Wade took the score to 328 with the help of tail enders. For West Indies Chanderpaul played well in both innings scoring 68 and 69 respectively. Michael Clark sparked with the ball in the second innings claiming 5 for 86 runs. Australia must be riding pretty high with back to back wins against India and West Indies hoping to get back to the top of the table once again.

I think the first innings deficit was a bit too much for WI to overcome. I think they will be ruing allowing the last 3 Aus batsmen 100 odd runs in the first innings. In the final analysis that was the difference between the two teams. Yes, Sammy and Shillingford fought really hard in the end, but by then it was already a near lost cause for the Windies. Cheers!
