Vacation time issue

I put in a request to be off work the week of July 4th to spend time with my kids. I'm a medical assistant and my doctor will be out that week also. My office manager told me today that I can't take off that whole week because I won't have enough paid time off. Ok, I don't care if I don't have enough PTO...I just won't get paid. But nooooo, my supervisor said No. Well you know what? I'm taking off anyway. I will just not come back if they don't accept it. What do y'all think?

That only works if you really don't need that job or can get another one quickly. I wish you luck. I know my company has a similar policy but if you file for FMLA you can take time without pay.

But you usually can't do FMLA if it's not a medical problem.

Go for it, you could call in sick. Who cares if they know it's a lie? Who are they to dispute what you say? It seems like you made up your mind. If you don't care what your boss thinks, why care what we think? Have fun.
