What do you get from Amazon?

So for those of you that uses Swagbucks I'm sure most of you redeem the $5 Amazon GC and then buy stuff since that has the most value for SB. I actually cash out $25 Paypal, but I have calculated that I have already lost $25 compared to what I would have gotten if I got the amazon giftcard. However, I have never used amazon (or ebay for that matter), so I am at lost here. For those of you who gets the giftcard, what do you usually buy? And is it worth it? Like, I could invest paypal money into other opportunities...

I've used Amazon a few times. I find it a pretty good site. You can find some pretty good deals on there. I often find that games and other merchandise is sometimes cheaper to buy on amazon then it is in say a local shop. I haven't bought anything off ebay yet, though I have looked into ebay.

What do you mean by sometimes? Isn't it always? Or are there some things and deals that I have to watch out for? I tried asking my friends the other day, and they were like, why are you looking at amazon? Use eBay! So that was that. I couldn't get any ideas of what I would get from amazon if I was them. :P

What I meant is that I use Amazon when it is benefical for me. If I can find a good deal on there, and it is better then say what a local shop has, then I'll go with Amazon. I'm not much of an online shopper, but I do like Amazon. A good thing to do is to check both ebay and amazon and compare prices. See which one is offering a better deal on the same item. If they have the same item, you are looking for.

Ahhh... thanks so much for clarifying that! Yeah, that's why I love the you guys - you're a wealth of information! I actually supposed that everything on amazon would be cheaper than retail, but that is probably not the case. :P Though I have to say that I don't have the ebay option since I can only get amazon giftcards and not the ebay ones, but it's good to compare if I actually have "real" money to spare, if you know what I mean. :P I'm still looking through, and if I say, get my $25 paypal now, I think I have enough time to get something small for mother's day, but then again it's my first time, AND I have never bought anything online, AND I don't have the keys to my mailbox. So not sure how that is going to work, haha.

I wonder if those gift cards and points that some people get online can be used if you live in another country outside the United States. Many times I have even joined internatinoal sites (specially survey sites) and I never reach cash out because none of the surveys are for my area. As for buying with a giftcard, I´m sure I´d find where to spend the money.

But, do people around the world receive gift cards? And, can they use them?

I think amazon is pretty international, though I have never heard of rules regarding currency as such.

@marguicha: You should ask directly Amazon to know their rules for your country. I have won a few gift cards, and I know I can only use a gift card in euros with my French account, not a gift card in dollars.

I get PayPal for most of my other earning sites, but I like having that Amazon account as well. Sometimes I try to make sure my order is all free shipping, then that is the best deal. I just ordered some indigo powder to go with my henna powder to get more of the hair color I want. That had free shipping. I also ordered a mini dust broom to go in a pretend play clean up kit for my grand daughter that is turning 3. When her sister turned three I did a kit for her. That way they can help mom with chores. I give them a tote tray and other stuff. Unfortunately that one did not have free shipping and I did not have enough stuff I wanted to get free shipping today. I like that I can, if I choose, have them ship directly to my daughter for the shipping price. I am not this time, but at Christmas I got each of the girls a special cookie cutter and a book each and had them shipped directly. That way my daughter could see what I was getting and she loves to wrap presents. Easy for me, fun for them. I like the versatility of having Amazon and you can get great deals. I wanted some sheet music. I got a whole book of twenty songs for 29 cents, but the shipping was a little over three dollars. You can get a variety of things. I paid less than $10 including shipping for an auto repair book that was out of print that my husband wanted. If I could have gotten it in a book store it would have been $35.

Try finding your favorite snack by the case, or something exotic to eat. I like shopping online because there are actually more choices than when I go to the store. Like I said, I do get quite a few payouts to PayPal, so I can use either one. I also use my paypal to shop through a shopping portal that gives me points and then I buy the stuff I want from a store that gives me quarterly cash back. I like to pinch those pennies until they scream.

Man! You make me feel like I should be getting loads from amazon, but I just don't buy things in general, apart from lunch! Maybe I should save it up and then buy something really expensive like a rolex watch, but then again I'm rather scared of the quality watch they would send over. It's feels like something is better when you buy expensive jewelry or something in real life, rather than online, yknow? Hmm..... yeah, that's the thing. I don't want to cash out in paypal and end up buying something I could get cheaper for from amazon, and also loose money just choosing the paypal option as well.... but nothing appeals to me yet.

I used to buy a lot of books. I have loads and loads of books in my house, and I would keep buying them until I found out that I don't ever read them again, and would be better off reading and borrowing from the library...

Er... I have a rather stupid question, but how do you know the food is fresh? And I don't mean the catfood or the dogfood. (I love the diaper idea but I don't have a kid :P)

I always try to stick to Paypal since I prefer to use Ebay for things. If I ever do get money on Amazon then I just wait until a good deal on video games. They have buy 2 get one frees deals on select games every now and then so I wait for times like that. I just stick to Paypal though since it can be used basically everywhere besides Amazon.

:P I never knew there where deals in amazon! I'm still trying to figure out the how site and navigate through it! Might be worth waiting for! I always choose the paypal option, but in this case I am actually losing money choosing the paypal option (for $25 paypal I can get $150 amazon), which is why I'm asking ideas on what should get if I choose the amazon option next time. Never used ebay though, but I'm currently not interested unless I get free giftcards on the internet, like the amazon ones, haha!

I find that books and movies can be very cheap on Amazon, especially older, used movies (make sure you get good condition!). I also use it for funny, odd things I couldn't find at a local store, like if I need an accessory for a costume or want to give a friend a funny gift. Just go through any unusual things you've wanted recently and check the Amazon price--it'll likely be cheaper than buying it retail.

What do you mean by get good condition? Aren't all amazon products new, unlike ebay, where you buy other users stuff (probably used?). I think like you said, it is cheaper than retail, though honestly I currently don't really need anything there... apart from lunch money. :P Is there really no way I can monetize amazon and somehow buy something that I can invest into?

I see... sorry if I sound stupid, but I have never bought anything off the internet, haha, so I'm new to everything. I guess I'm more wary because like you said, I don't really know what the actual product looks like, but a "penny plus shipping" does sound like a deal, unless the book are really old. You know how they have a 450SB for Amazon.ca? Does that ship international, or do I have to get the giftcards from the normal .com site?

Well, I heard that the .ca from amazon is only worth 450 SB while the .com is 500 SB, so I was just wondering what's the different with them, especially if it is ultimately the same site. Nice... I actually just cashed out another $25 paypal... I'll keep browsing at the moment, haha. Plus, I don't have an amazon account anyway so I think it's best to have a look first.

I have my eye on an electric smoker made by Brinkman at Amazon. I can get it locally but I thought it would be a challenge to save up the gift certificates to get one. I really want one so this gives me more incentive to earn those gift certificates!

Yeah! Realistically I think I could get a lot of things if I choose an amazon payout... it's just that I don't need anything from amazon, that's all! But I still think it's a waste leaving a good $10 bucks behind everytime I choose paypal. :) I hope you get there! You can do it!

I see... so they do have a back up system, though I think I'm still paranoid about the fact that amazon can shut down one day and everything will be lost, haha. And while I think it is very appealing... I think for me, I'll stick to the ole books since I like the smell of paper and live extremely close to a library. :)

There are loads of stuff that I want off of Amazon! I want a food dehydrator, a food vacuum sealer, lots of different books, a new bed comforter set... the list goes on and on.. I just have to decide what I want to get first. I am near cashout at Swagbucks and another place that offers CrowdTap. I want to combine those two to get something that I want. Search for something you want on Amazon and go for it.

Wow you certainly do want a lot of things!!! I've tried to get things to appeal to me but for the moment all I can think of is a watch for my parents. :( I think it's because I currently have everything provided for, and I am never really into buying things for myself anyway. I think I prefer investing cold hard cash into something and watch it grow... Honestly, I draw blanks thinking what I want in amazon. :P

I get the Amazon gift cards. You definitely get more for your money. I buy different things, like movies, electronic items, ect. There is so much that you can get from Amazon.

I. frankly speaking, I do not know Amazon, although I have heard from many friends name it. However from what you wrote in your thread, do not seem to be a very Profitable site. You yourself have admitted to having lost the same amount of $ 25. And, excuse me for saying so, but this seems nasty. Maybe then you go to find that there exists also a money making system, but I am in doubt, prefer to abstain.

No, you don't understand Swagbucks works with points, where the cost of getting $25 paypal is worth more SB points than $25 amazon cards. So by losing $25 I mean losing a virtual $25 in an amazon account since I redeem paypal money instead of the gift cards, if you know what I mean. So I"m just asking what people usually buy from amazon (which is similar to ebay), to see if I can save the $25 lost by changing it into $25 paypal cash and get $25 more stuff from amazon, and use that stuff to generate more profits.

I use to work in Amazon before, when it's time for pay out, they said that if your from Asia, you can not cash out instead all you can do is buy stuff from amazon. I think that is kind a RACIST, it really disappointing to know that. So I've decided not to visit amazon ever again.
@Nameless_ (1180)

Yeah, I think there is definitely a lack of opportunities for asian countries, whether you're black or white or asian, so I don't think it's the race but the location, though I think they do it to prevent fraud or something. Though I have to admit that asians are pretty good at scams and frauds... and it might reduce their shipping fees, though I have no idea how that would work in this case. Or they just want us to invest back in the site. It is definitely disappointing to know that some countries are not allowed. Even for me, I feel it's rather unfair that we get more opportunities than others.

Well I've bought a few items off Amazon. I had to get a new laptop charger which I bought off Amazon since it was way cheaper on there than in stores. I also bought my 160 gb ipod off there. I usually just save up my Amazon balance until I find something I want. I heard many who will save it up for Christmas time and then shop for their family and/or friends. Right now I would really want to buy a tablet but I may just save up so I can buy textbooks for when I go back to college in August(if my grants and scholarships won't pay).

Wait... your'e using your textbooks on kindle? Wow.. that is definitely the first time I have ever thought of doing that. Wow! If everyone (students) did that then out bags would be hella a lot lighter, and cheaper too, considering a kindle is $139 and books are like a penny each.
