i am hoping that people here would rather work locally even if the pay is much less. because we would need to help our country. if most of our people would work in other countries then this country would lose the best professionals and work force we have and they would be absorbed by other countries. that is why we lack so many doctors and nurses in public hospitals. and there is even lack of public school teachers.

So true that a lot aspired to work abroad and we could not blame them because majority of them chooses that for their families. Salary/wages here are really small compared to other countries and they could only give better future for their family through working abroad. Although there could be ways to also earn big here such as having business, still they look for faster way to earn big which is working abroad.

well i cannot blame people leaving the country for somewhere they can get paid. i am planning to do the same. i am a volunteer nurse and i don't get paid, myself. i was thinking about not leaving but i need to be more practical. and besides, i have some family there already and my mom and pops are also leaving soon. maybe when i am all rich hahaha i can come back. we do need our good medical professionals here in the country. if only the country could just provide for the needs of the people...

You are right, there are lot of teachers going abroad because the salary is really huge compared to what they are receiving here in the Philippines. What they can earn in a month will be what they will earn here for a year or more. When it comes to teachers, My sister is a fresh graduate of education course and trying to apply for an elementary teacher. Some schools were offering just PhP3000 per month while the most highly paying school that she applied for offers only PhP7500. Some schools offers no work no pay policy. Just imagine how much budget are given to our education, some will really opt for a higher income. Some will just ending up as caregivers and some where domestic helpers even they are degree holders.

The obvious reason is they find much better opportunities in other countries. Philippine government should provide plenty of jobs and sufficient income to all Filipinos so they wouldn't think of working abroad anymore.

Hi hotsummer, I certainly hope this will happen. We lack skilled people here in the country because most of them are working abroad. However, we cannot really blame them because most of them wants to earn money to provide a better life for their loved ones.

Your hope is good.Everyone hopes so.But people having different experiences hope to try new. It's human nature to live better, puisuit their goals, like comfort. But everyone wishes to contribute to their motherkand. This is a conflict. So some go while some stay. Don't worry. Some who are abroard will help your country in a different way.Maybe they will invest in your country or do other things to help your country, though not all of them will do so.

Hi Hotsummer. It is coming like brain drain. Philippines is losing her homegrown talents to thrive in a land who is capable of paying them.

I agree with you. I really do hope and pray that people from our land would think the same way. Although we can not blame some of them who are really looking for a bigger income and we know the fact that the government as of this time can not address their needs. However, I am still hoping that with the new technology and with our talents and abilities we would be able to compete with those countries when it comes to IT.
