Hi. I am a teacher. These days many of my students can't finish their homework on time. When i ask them why, all of them have their own excuse.I know some of them are too lazy to do the homework. I tried to explain the importance but some of them are so stubborn that they can't hear me. I am very worried about it. Friends, can you give me some advice about it. I will appreciate it.

If students are not doing their homework, that shows they are not passionate on the subject. The best thing you can do for them is to ignite a passion for the subject in them. Igniting a passion involves find ways to make the learning more interesting and commenting them for their own opinions etc.

Passion does work in everything. But sometimes only passion can't last long. Learning knowledage calls for endurance, persistence. And as for the high school students, They shold know what they must do and mustn't do and they will have the state exam in only one month. If they fail the exam they will lose a lot.

Then, i am a school admin in elementary school. Please be specific of what student do you teach. In school i work, the teachers bring their lazy students facing our headmaster, but if the students have 2 warning about not doing their homework. Then, after 3 warning, their parents will be called to face the headmaster. ;)

I think you should just give them fun seatworks instead, first as a group, then as pairs.. it is more fun to work with others than just oneself. You can give them major projects by pair too- so they'd be forced to do it.

Sir.., I am a student. I am always finishing my homeworks. And getting good marks on the exams. There are some my classmates. They are not finishing homeworks and got punishment from teachers. I bored at seeing..!! It is necessary to complete. Not only these. We have to study something what teachers have studied us. And I am trying to read what teachers will teach the next day. These are our works at home. And seeing T.V, computer(mylot) etc. Very good discussion. Thanks for starting...

When I was a student,I used to depend on hard labor.I did not like doing home works.Instead,I wanted to relax myself.Actually my teachers were very disciplined and devoted persons and they made us to work hard in the class. We had to remain punctual. So I had my own strategy to do my home works.I used to challenge myself and try to meet the self imposed challenge. This strategy worked well,at least for me.

Pop quizzes and heavier sanctions could be worth a try. If they get a bad point for a homework they didn't do, and 5 bad points equal a1/an F (or whatever the worst grade is in your country), they would be a bit afraid and do their homeworks.

If a reward won't do try the other side. Don't check their attendance unless they are ready to present their finished homework.

dear, if you teach children that are still young,go to the fount of the classroom explain in a loud but firm voice and spare a moment to tell them that when they grow up and go to work they can't make up excuses when they are older. Then tell them to turn off the tv when they do their homework but music is ok.Then say that anyone who doesn't do their homework for the next day will sit in your classroom during recess and do the homework that they didn't do.If this doesn't work with you come up with a punishment for not doing homework that fits your shedule.:)
