The profit of being ill.

Who wants to have a fever raise your hand, when i was a kid i use to raise my hand to this question sometimes. Before i was really tired to be asked on doing multiple light task, like buying something on our neighbor, watering the plant, wash the dishes and many others. I hate it when i get interrupted to what i am doing. There were times when i used to wish hope i will have a fever tomorrow. I find it pleasurable because everyone were looking after me, asking what i want to eat, how do I feel and most of all exempted from the usual task and that's immature of me. Have you ever experience that too when you are a child?

That would be nice...I used to wish i was sick, for just one day when i was still in high school since it was sometimes tiring to go to school. And it is nice to get sick since someone will be taking care of you and all you need to do is lie on the bed. But then time is wasted..

haha..yeah, I had those crazy thoughts, before. Especially, back in high school, when we are tasked to clean the grounds, I just wished I was feverish and be excused from the chores. Same thing at home, I get a break from sharing with the housechores if I'm sick, plus the extra attention from my mother. But, when I started working, I really hate it when i get sick, because of all the consequences it comes with.

No, I didn't like to be sick, even when I was a child, although my mom did take care of me when I was sick ... and now I have to take care of myself, even when I am sick. When I was sick as a child, I had to stay in bed and not do much of anything. I could read, which I liked to do, but that gets boring after a while. I could not go outside and play with my friends, and that really made me sad, so I definitely did not wish to be sick.

I would rather not trade optimal health for pretty much anything in the world to say the least. I think that being waited on as I am sick was nice for a while but it got annoying, to the fact that I got bored, so I would not be able to do anything because I was tired and weak to really just pulling myself right out of bed. Plus there is just so much to do. When I was a child, there was not nearly as much to do, even though missing one day of school was something that was a bit of a problem. Then I had to really play catch up a lot of the time. That really is the thing, of why I do not really want to really be sick really just saying the least. So really even if there are some perks, the disadvantages of being ill is just too much of not enough and there are just many drawbacks.

Yes, when I was a child and when I did not want to go to school, I always wish to have a fever the next morning. It is the best excuse not to see my scary teacher in math during those days. Also, I could relate with you, whenever when I was sick, I have all the attention of my mom and dad and I love it. But then I outgrow this kind of funny and naughty wishes because these days when money is hard to come by, it is not practical to be sick.

I know how you feel. Sometimes I'm just emotionally (and sometimes physically) exhausted and just need a rest. I will wish I would get sick so I could have an excuse not to do my normal responsibilities. However, I would feel too guilty to pretend I'm sick so sometimes I just hope it will actually happen. Unfortunately, I rarely get sick. One time however I got a really bad strep throat in college right before finals week. The doctor told me I shouldn't go to school for like 2 weeks and if I wanted she would be happy to write a note or contact my teachers. What an opportunity! But of course this was the one time that it wouldn't matter how sick I was- I had too much to do and not much time to do it and my grades were riding on finishing my tasks. So the one time I finally got sick I had to push through. This happened several times in college. I would get very sick at the one time where I couldn't possibly avoid my responsibilities and had to suffer through it. Once I had mono and just had to ignore it and barely noticed it after a few days. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who feels this way.

I didn't wish to... yet I guess I have experienced the same special treatments once or twice in my life. I have been the most sickly in the family. My mom is extra-caring when it comes to me making my siblings think at times that I'm a favorite.. hehehe.. though I believe I'm not. It's just that I have the tendency to get everybody's attention whenever I'm sick. same is true when I'm in school with classmates and even in work at present. Teachers especially in Physical Education used to exempt me from tasks thinking that I might get sick ...

Being the eldest, I did all the household chores except doing the laundry when I was still younger. My mom would wake me up so early because I had to go to the market. I would cook then wash the dishes. It came to a point that I hoped to get sick so that they would let me rest. And I did get sick. Haha! I collapsed while I was preparing coffee early in the morning for my father and his friends. I loved that incident because even though I was not feeling well and I had to take meds, at least I was able to rest for a week. Haha.
