Buffering rant

There is somethign about youtube that annoys the heck out of me and because that I want to rant about it because I know some people can relate with this. Its really annoying! You found a video you wanted to watch, you want to watch that video smoothly so you paused it, and wait it to buffer. you know when the gray line is full, the video is ready to watch..... but then this thing happens, Its either you decided to fullscreen the video or youy accidentally clicked the fullscreen button.... All that patience and time you wasted to buffer the video because all the buffer is gone. sometimes I didnt even clicked the fullcreen button, the video just go fullscreen by it self, eliminating all that hard earned buffer gone. Youtube is so busy changing their interface every year, people dont want it. all that time and energy should have been used to improve the loading and buffering of the videos.

Oh yes, i have experienced that a few times, since i am careful not to push anything to make it full screen and lose the video. I experience sometimes that the gray bar is full but then it wasn't done at all- maybe it's my internet connection.

Do you have a really fast internet connection? My internet connection is only average, so downloading still takes a while. I only download tv series and movies.. and videos that are awesome..

Oh, that's weird. I am downloading a series right now, gosh it's so long- 18 episodes and each episode has 5 parts.. so that's like 90 videos and i am still in episode 6.. But the download is a bit fast these past few days.

my worst experience is when a video rebuffs 3 times. Imagine how much waiting I endured with that.

You should try being on dial up Internet it can take up to an hour to see the whole video and it can buffer at least a dozen times once the video is done you have to play it again in order to see the whole thing straight through

I believe it is only important when you are on a slow connection : I never noticed this on YouTube as the buffering is very fast for me. What I experience is the interface minor changes, not once, but three or four times a year : I use a Greasemonkey script for YouTube, YouTube Enhancer, and I have to update it every time they change : it is a tough job for the maintainer of the script.

YouTube Enhancer provides the same interface since years and avoid -- among other things -- videos to go fullscreen. It works with GreaseMonkey and is compatible with several browsers -- FireFox, Chrome, Opera, etc. --. Maybe you should try it ? It is hosted here : http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/33042

Youtube buffering has never actually been a problem for me since my connection is fast.BUT,i definitely do remember the days before i upgraded my net speed.I can totally understand how it feels, especially when its a music video you like or something similar.Still you cant blame youtube for such a thing(not that im saying your are)

i resorted to downloading the video now, that is my only way to watch the video faster without the loading and buffering shenanigans.

there's even more than that, sometimes u pause to let it buffer but the gray line does not advance at all, it just stays there for some kind of bug reason i don't know, and if u go backwards cause it to reset, i hate it!

Don't get me started on YouTube! OMG! Every time they decide to change, I have to delete my Flash player, delete its main files, delete my plug-ins, clear my cache, restart, reinstall it all, restart again, and then change the Flash options just to get the thing to play right! There needs to be a new format other than Flash. I'm sick of it.

wash, rinse repeat.... I know that process is really wrath inducing. Its frustratingly annoying that we have to endure this crap. I cleared cache and cookies many times and still now working.

hello Capt, I believe it depends on your system. I have encountered with this buffering problem when using my laptop. So, when things goes that way, I use my mobile phone. I don't know- but using my mobile phone to access and watch any video from youtube, I never faced this buffering issue.
