Travel the Philippines

I get so excited whenever I hear the word "travel". I don't get a lot of it but I enjoy each of my travels every time I get to have one. Given the chance, I'd love to visit every city of the country and take lots of pictures. I even envy those who work for travel shows and travel magazines. For me, they're like being paid for having fun because traveling for me is fun. =) Among the places that I love are Bataan, Cebu, Davao because of the history and the great stuff those cities have to offer. These places have great beaches and food prices are affordable too. Cities that I would like to visit are Vigan, Palawan, Naga primarily because of the rich history and the heritage that I would like to learn more. =) How about you? Have you visited the Philippines? If yes, what are your favorite cities? If not, can you share about your country instead? It would make me feel like I've traveled your place and the places you love by just sharing.=)

I would love to travel, i haven't been to a lot of places, just a few provinces since traveling costs a lot too. I have traveled in Cebu , Nueva Ecija and Manila- it is very polluted.. but i love the amusement parks- i'm such a kid.

Very interesting. May I ask for the sights to see? What are the good places that Nueva Ecija has to offer to tourists? Reading about places and hearing friends' stories makes me feel (somehow) that I have traveled the place already. (^^,)

I haven't been to Nueva Ecija yet. How is the place? What are the good sites to visit? Is the food cheap and good?=) Aside from a place to stay, one of the 1st things that I consider is the food that the city has to offer. =D I'm a foodie. Second are the attractions like amusement parks, gaming places, sights to see, etc. Manila is indeed very polluted but they have a lot to offer for visitors. The traffic is just a killer but then, it's still a good place to go around. =) Cebu has a whole lot of good spots to go to. The food is really cheap and delicious too. =)) I tried their go cart racing circuit and boy I never want to stop! Hahaha! =D

We have relatives in Nueva Ecija and we just stay at my grandparents' house or otehr relatives. The wind is nice there, some trees and it is easy to go from one place to another since the traffic flows freely.. Products are cheap too.

I'm glad you are interested in travelling the Philippines. Increasing Domestic tourism has been one of the Department of Tourism's goal. It is still disturbing to find out that some foreigners have traveled the Philippines more than its own people. There are so many wonders of nature to see in the country. I guess we'll have to blame it to colonial mentality when Filipinos look more to travel foreign countries than the Philippines. I'm not saying that travelling other land is a bad thing, in fact it is something I would encourage. But let us not forget the wonders in out own backyard. Sayang! To see as much of the country as we can is a good idea and less costly than travelling to Hong Kong just to shop!

Oh! I haven't answered your discussion properly yet! haha I'd like to go to Vigan as well, island hopping in Davao (wild water rafting and zip line), I would also like to try the rafting in Cagayan de Oro and try the longest zipline in Cagayan/Bukidnon area. Corregidor is a great place, I'm also looking at Bataan because of the rich history. Surigao and La Union for serving and deep sea fishing also sounds like a great idea! I just have to earn enough in mylot to make it happen...

I agree with your 1st post, traveling the country would pose as patriotism too. =) That's why I prefer traveling the country 1st before traveling Asia and the rest of the world [dreaming big, planning ahead so I'll have an inspiration to make it big (^^,)]. I tried water rafting and zipline in Davao. It's sooo much fun! Plus the snorkeling and the beaches made it 100x more fun. Cebu have a lot of places to go too. The traffic is incomparable to Davao's smooth pace but heck, the places to visit are well worth the wait.=) I've been to Surigao before but never got the chance to go to their attractions. Time was so limited then. I was on medical supplies sales back then, so I really had to budget my time and money. =/ I guess that makes the two of us, we'll earn much on myLot to be able to travel more. Hehe! =D

Davao is good mic of rural and urban which makes it a good travel anchor, you have the luxury of rural areas to visit and the slow pace, but the night life is not lacking like in most provinces. Most of the places to go to in Cebu are pretty expensive though, if you are going to Bohol for Panglao, it could be worth your while surveying the city. There are just so many places to visit in the Philippines.

My husband and I have been to the Philippines twice. . .both times we stayed near Manila, but went on day trips from there--my favorite was to Taal volcano. We have been there twice, once almost 15 years ago, and the second time 3 years ago. . .what a different between the two trips! The road to the area had been widened and completely paved, the surrounding countryside had been built up and the resort areas themselves had been refurbished and expanded. But the real beauty was the volcano and surrounding countryside itself. For our next trip, we are really hoping to go to Bataan--we have heard it is beautiful there. You are lucky to live in such a beautiful country--definitely enjoy your travels!

Hi Suzieqmom. The place where Taal is located have lots of establishments Now catering to tourists. The Tagaytay area near Taal is a beautiful place Where there are lots of restaurants, spas, cable cars, horse riding activities, accommodations and the view from up there is breathtaking... I am sure You will like it better the next time you visit the place. The Palawan Underground River which is now included in the list of the Seven Wonders Of The World is worth visiting as well.

Hi Suzieqmom. I've also heard a lot of great things about Taal and Tagaytay. I haven't been there but the place sure has plenty to offer. Thank you so much alicia812 for sharing more about Tagaytay. My friends have been there and they told me plenty of nice things about Tagaytay. Compared to how it used to be, there have been a lot of developments there as of now, they said. =)

Hi Alicia, We rode on one of the cable cars overlooking a deep valley (and the volcano, off to one side)--it was very beautiful. The Palawan Underground River sounds interesting--I think I will do some research on it for our next trip!

There really are a lot of wonderful places to visit in the Philippines. We also have a lot of undeveloped places that are ideal for a great getaways. I'm a nature-loving person and going on nature adventure really excites me. Oh I'd love to visit Baguio and Siargao too. I've never been there.

I agree with you. I sure hope they'll have a more positive perspective of our country. The Philippines has a lot of great places to visit. Some of my relatives have visited Baguio already and they brought home wonderful stories and memories of Baguio. =)

You're so right about the lucky ones who get to travel for a living! I'm going to be visiting the Philippines in July and would really love your opinion on places to check out. We've already booked a flight to Boracay and Cebu but I don't want to waste a minute and hope to see and experience as much as I can. I only get to visit the Philippines every 7-10 years :(

I hope you enjoy your visit here. There are a lot of wonderful places to visit in Cebu. Don't forget to have a taste of their dried mangoes. Also, if you're up for an adventure, you can try their edge coaster ride (you'll be seated in a moving chair with safety lock, on the 38th floor of the building) and sky walk (walking on a fiber glass path at the 37th floor of the building) both at Crown Regency Tower Hotel. It's a must try for tourist to the city. I also had a taste of it. =D I haven't been to Boracay but I'm sure you'll enjoy it there. You might also want to have a side trip at Davao City. Eden Nature Park is a must visit in Davao City. Aside from that, Davao City boasts of the accessible beaches from the city proper and for being the most livable city in the country. You might also like to visit Cagayan de Oro City. The white water rafting is a must try. It has been featured several times on national TV here in the Philippines. The food is also affordable in Cagayan de Oro City. =)

I have the Philippines near to the top of my travel wish list for the future. I have been reading a travel guide book about the Philippines and it makes me even more keen to go there. I love island hopping and snorkeling in the aquamarine ocean. I would choose to fly to Cebu first choice or Manila second choice. I would love to see Coran, Palawan and Bohol. I think Cebu would be an excellent place for me to begin my exploring.

That's good to know maximax8. =) There are indeed a lot of wonderful places to visit in the Philippines. Excellent choices of cities to visit.Cebu offers really cheap but quality foods. I haven't been to Coron, Palawan yet but it's on my list of places to visit too. =) Manila is a heaven for those who are always on the go. If you're into night life, their clubs close by break of dawn. Hehe! =) If I may suggest, you could also include Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City. Both cities are very promising. Davao City has been labeled as the most livable city and child-friendly city. It's a big no-no for people who do crimes. Both Mayor and Vice Mayor has been very strict with peace and order. Beaches are just 10 to 15 minutes away from the city proper. Cagayan de Oro City is has a lot to offer too. If you love adventure, this is the place to be. Cagayan de Oro City is 8 hours away bus ride from Davao City. you may also opt for the 45 minutes airplane ride from Davao City to Cagayan de Oro City. You could start in Cebu. It's almost in the center of the Philippines,in the middle of Manila and Palawan, being part of Luzon, and Davao City and Cagayan de Oro City, being part of Mindanao. =)

And the financial aspect also hold us back from traveling too. I would really love to travel but it'snot something that I can do on a regular basis. =)

I would like to visit Phillipines. Yet, it might be a few years because of money, family and other constraints. I might face language issue there. Is there good vegetarian stuff in Phillipines?
• Philippines
26 May 12
Hi sweety_81. I don't think language will be much of a problem if you happen to come by.Most people know and understand English. Some may not know excellent English but everyone will be helpful if you need it. =) I'll pray that you can come so you'll be able to have a wonderful vacation. =) Vegan diet has been going on here too. Organic foods have been promoted here by Vegan people themselves. =) I hope you could come in the future. =)

Hi, My idea of traveling these Philippine Islands is to have a small-sized yacht with capability of wind or motor travel, electronic gears diving and fishing equipments. It would be nice to sail on a bright day with the wind on my face and having freshly caught fish on the grill then anchoring on one of the small islands and having a very good day altogether. Of course I would avoid large cities with their pollution and garbage on the waterfront. How about starting from the islands of Babuyan Channel going down South to Sulu Islands via Palawan and Boracay? One of my fears though are the pirates and kidnappers that may chance me on the high seas, one thing I have to prepare for it well, it would be one of the highlights in the travelogue I am planning to publish as a book afterwards.

I already visited some provinces and cities here and so far Caticlan is one of my favorite. It is because of the Boracay there which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. I also enjoy some areas in Bicol like in Ligao because of the Mayon Volcano there. I also enjoy being in Baguio and Laguna.

Boracay really is a top spot. I haven't been there but I've heard a lot of good things about it. Ligao is something new to me. I haven't heard of it but I'll read about it. Thanks for sharing. =) Oh.....Baguio really is a wonderful place, most people say and I really want to visit it. To bad I still can't afford the travel. I've been to Laguna way back in 1999. Perhaps it's time to revisit the place. =) I want to go back to enchanted kingdom and be like a child again.(^^,)

I'm a Filipino, so yes! Hahaha! I've visited some of the major tourist spots here in our country. My top 5 would be the following: 1. Bohol - for the Chocolate Hills, Loboc River cruise, the very cute Yoda-like tarsiers, and the Bohol Beef Farm (they serve organic food) 2. Davao - for the beautiful white beach of Samal island 3. Vigan - for its well-known street of preserved Spanish-era houses, especially the Crisologo house, the old churches, and of course the Vigan empanada and longanisa (Filipino breakfast sausage) 4. Puerto Princessa and Coron, Palawan - for the incredible beaches (especially the islands in Coron!) and of course the famous underground river 5. Siargao, Surigao - worth the long trip just to swim with the whale-sharks.

I've only been to number two, among your list of favorite cities. I was able to go to Suriagao but was not able to visit the attractions. Too bad. And we have the same interests with places. I sure am looking forward to visiting all those places. =)

I love the Philippines, it has a lot of historical events happened from the previous eras: Spanish, Japanese and Americans.
