Drawing the line

We have angels and demons in books and in movies, fighting side by side or against one another! We have in some cases God being shown and lucifer rising up! Personally i think they should stay away from it! I mean there subject matter which you can employ in novels and movies. But using "this" should be unacceptable! Thats like asking for war to start! Its a sensitive topic and i think it should be dealt with carefully! I mean yes we want a more open accepting society but going towards their very roots seems very childish unless the aim is to start another row!! Since we are experiencing so much of those, why not stay away! Treat a person and their beliefs the same way you wish your to be treated! With peace at heart! Happy mylotting

If the subject matter of a book offends you, you don't have to read it. If the subject matter of a film offends you, you don't have to watch it. You should accept that not everyone's going to agree with you and we all have the right to a free choice.

Hi all and thanks for responding! My point again would be we should be caring enough and mature enough to understand that a topic is controversial and certain cultures are very sensitive about it and we should thus stay away from it! I don't know but i think a small amount of decency exercised on the part of the makers please! Yes the other person can just go ahead and read it and its freedom of expression which is being exercised but its actually his basic right which is being stamped on! I mean he has certain beliefs and we should honour them! Thats the whole point of being human and civilized that we take care not to hurt our other fellow humans!

Maybe they should put offensive stuff on bathroom toilet tissues? We do have free choice though I can see the other side of the coin we need to read the material or start watching the film before we can see that it is offensive and by that time it is too late. Of course tossing the book or walking out of the theatre is always an option.

I couldn't have said it better myself. My room mate often becomes offended at the stuff she reads, and I'm always like "Er, then why D,did you keep on reading it?"

Not really sure which scenes you mean in books and movies. I think the spiritual realm has always been a mystery, subject for controversy and wonderment. I look at very old paintings and see how an artist created a work of art that captured some very profound thoughts. Presently, we have an abundance of modern works that depict many different ideas. I am not really sure what you mean however concerning a conflict between good and evil? Certainly, though we could pray for peace, do acts of peace and search for peace with God but can we ignore or prevent an outcome of spiritual conflict?

Well capturing profound thoughts are all fine but abusing the knowledge for material gain, even twisting the story of Christ and all simply to sell and make movies sell them! That is very inconsiderate! In fact downright shameful!

Not sure what movie or book .. and can’t think of one right now but I do understand how material gain could be the prime concern. I remember a very old movie that many people questioned about the story of Christ, I think it was call Jesus Christ Super Star a musical and then there are those old films depicting Moses with Charleton Heston (so sorry that might be mis-spelled). Though I liked him as an actor and even appreciated watching these movies I thought at the time the meek man Moses might not have looked like or acted like Charleton Heston nor speak English. Certainly, twisting of truths will always occur but talking about God, Jesus Christ after watching the movie would not be wrong? I mean in view that the bible tells us talking about Christ with each other is appropriate.

No its perfectly alright to talk about the Christ but to use Him in books so that it may sell and to make a movie or drama where angels are God is acted out by a mortal! That is insulting for some cultures and i know the usual would be to not watch it but i think there should be a code of conduct or something like it! I mean why make something which is insulting to others! We should respect their culture and belief and besides is there really a dearth of topics?

yes, our world does not need another war that can rock the world. there are a lot of images and talks about conflict between north korea and south korea, between iran and israel. i think there should be a counter-force to play down this talks of conflict and large-scale war. i will join you in staying away from this.

Hi yeah we are kind of deviating from the topic! But again a mature approach and understanding of eachother's cultures and acceptance should be used! Everyone basically has equal rights!

Please forgive me if I am over the line because I too don’t want to make any trouble or offend anyone. I am not even sure if we are even discussing the same things. There is a counter-force. The president of Iran said he wants war with Israel? The people of Iran have a religion “a God peace” Israel people have a “God of peace.” The counter force then for peace are those who honour their God. I choose not to stay away from this = God of peace.

I think its just up to the reader/viewers to decide for themselves. The reason why so many movies and novels are made based on this is because the industry is booming with curious people wanting to know about this topic.Personally im ok with these stuff since it doesnt really effect me in any way.

Hi! Well in the end it is being left to the readers to decide! I just wish they would stay away from such issues and focus more on bringing the world together rather than separating them into factions! Thanks for posting!
