What do you do when it is miserably hot outside?

Today was one of the hottest days of the summer this year in our area. It was miserably hot outside that when you walk outside it felt like you were walking into a sauna. Today we spent time indoors. It was much more comfortable being inside with the air conditioner. My daughter and I usually try and go for a walk but it was too hot today.

Lol, yeah I understand what you mean. That's usually how I feel. I don't like to go out unless it's early in the morning or late in the evening. Because generally it's way too hot and uncomfortable to be out doors.

We pretty much vegged inside today. Yesterday we had our Memorial Day cookout and people were over. We were in and out all day long. It was hot. Today we just stayed inside with the AC on vegging out and relaxing. Tomorrow is another work day for my hubby so he needed it.

Glad to hear that you all had time to relax after it was so hot out. It really was a hot day. I want us to get another air conditioner as we only have one upstairs. I think that it will be a lot cooler to have one for downstairs.

Its been hot here too and windy. We get a lot of hot and wind. I try to stay in side where the AC is on. But there is times i have to go out and mow the grass and pick weeds from my flower garden and water the flowers and grass. I try to go out early in the morning around 6 am when the sun is not to hot yet. I am so tired of the wind here. When I stay inside i usually go on the computer to mylot.

I agree having the air conditioner on helps a lot. I'm hoping that we will be able to buy another one for downstairs. Right now we only have one for upstairs. And it has been getting very hot downstairs. So we have been staying upstairs when it gets too hot.

I think it is one of the hottest weeks that I can remember at the moment, and I am happier on the whole when the weather is like this than I am when it rains. However, it can get a little bit uncomfortable at times when it is too hot, and the most important thing that you have to remember is that you cannot allow your body to become dehydrated. You should remember to drink a lot of water to replace the fluids that your body is losing through sweating and, if you remember to do this, then the weather is going to be a lot more comfortable for you than it would have been otherwise.

I'm glad that your enjoying your weather. It is important to keep hydrated when the weather is really hot. I often have something to drink with me when I'm out and about when the weather is miserably hot. I will be happy when it cools down a little.

Yeah it's nice when we are able to stay inside with air. That does make a huge difference. I'm hoping that soon we will be able to get air conditioner downstairs. As right now we only have it upstairs in our bedroom. I think it will keep the house cooler a great deal more.

When it was miserably hot outside I stay indoors watching movies and drinking some fruit shakes which I personally prepared. But there are times when I got bored inside the house and it is hot outside I go to the nearest mall and walk around.

Fruit shakes sound really good. We haven't made shakes at home in awhile. We will definitely have to get some ingredients for those when it gets hot out. It is also nice to be able to stay inside and watch movie. Monday night's my husband and I have date night at home I think I'm going to get some stuff for shakes now.

When it's miserably hot outside, I stay inside too. I can't handle the heat - I've never been able to. I do try to drink a lot of water, wear light weight clothing and so on, but I just have to get out of it to function. It hasn't been really hot here yet, other than a day here and there in the 90s. It usually cools down at night, so I open up the house and let it cool down then. Today it was only in the 70s and tomorrow is supposed to be the same. Perfect temperatures for me!

I agree with you. And lately it has been way to hot. My daughter and I usually go for a stroll in the afternoon. But since it's been so hot we have had to go out earlier in the mornings before it gets to hot. Yeah those are good temperatures. When it gets in the nineties with no wind it starts to be too much for me.

Summer hasn't actually got here yet. But when it is hot, I usually try to do yardwork, or outside activities in the morning, and spend the hottest part of the day either inside in air conditioning or at the pool. However, sometimes those plans don't work out and we get called out to a wildland fire. We were on a fire last summer when it was 107 degrees out, plus the heat from the fire. I also drink plenty of water and other liquids, everyday, whether I'm going to be out in the heat or not, to stay hydrated. If I'm lucky enough to get to just stay inside, I spend the time working on my hobby.

Yeah that's a good way to schedule your day. That way you are able to get what work needs to be done outside. Then for the rest of the day you can work in doors. I agree with you it's very important for us to stay hydrated. I often have something to drink with me as well.

I remember when I was in Phoenix, Arizona. It was 112 in the shade. Could fry an egg on the side walk. Literally. I have been in a sauna and then walked out in December freezing air. It felt great! I only turn on the A/C when it is getting close to three digit weather. Other than that I use a fan and keep the apartment closed up. When, and if, it cools off i will open up the windows and cool it off inside. Then start over the next day with it closed up.

Yeah Arizona has extremely hot weather. I would not want to live there at all. That would be way too hot for me. We have our air conditioner on when it's usually in the 80 or 90. I think we will be getting another one here soon for the downstairs. Because as of right now we only have one upstairs in the bedroom. So when we come downstairs it is extremely hot.

If you have to go outdoor, don't forget to bring an umbrella. Wear a clothes with a synthetic yarn like nilon or polyester. But since it so hot, it could be a microwave for your body. You have to double it with a cotton clothes in outside. That usually I wear in my country, even we didn't get too much hot weather in here.About a half of your weather.

Yeah an umbrella is a good idea. I never really think about that except for on the beach. It's a good thing for us to be prepared. I like to make sure that I have sunscreen for my daughter and myself when it gets really hot.

Hi Dom, I would prefer to go down, real down underwater with a SCUBA set and be with the fishes among the corals. This I find to be the best way to beat the heat. Even if my underwater time is limited to only fifty minutes or so, it really pays off to get that cooling plunge.

Yeah that really would keep a person cool. I have never been scuba diving but I'm sure that it is so much fun and enjoyable. Do you get to go scuba diving often? I would think it would be scary to go by myself. As I would be afraid something would happen.

I agree being indoors with the air conditioner on is my preference as well. With it being really hot though it's a perfect time for me to hang clothes outside. As they dry really fast. But other than that I don't have interest in doing anything else outside when the weather gets that hot.

Wow, it's hot here too! When it's that hot, I try to stay indoors if possible. If it's warm but not toooo hot, we usually go to the lake & feed the birds, or go play putt putt or do something like that. I'm not really an outdoors person; I enjoy being outside, but not tooooo much. I do enjoy being able to regulate the "weather" in our apartment. :)

Yeah going to the lake sounds like a good time when it's warm outside. I haven't been putt putt in awhile either. LOL, yeah it's nice to be able to control how cool it is in our home. Could you imagine living a hundred or more years ago or in certain countries for that matter? We wouldn't know the many great things about being able to cool down our home. In a sense we are spoiled :).

Well it's kinda hot here sometimes, But when I do need to go to somewhere else, I endure this heat and equip myself with cool beverages and my determination to go there.

Yeah I completely agree with you that it is necessary to have cool beverages when we are out and about. I usually drink coffee in the mornings but since it's been getting so hot, when my daughter and I go for a walk I take a glass of tea or pop instead. We do often times have a lot that needs to be done outside the house even if it's hot. Like going grocery shopping.

HI I live in England we spend most of our time trying to keep warm or dry.It has rained for about two months on and off.We did get one good hot week a little while ago while we had a break down the sea-side but apart from that it has been miserable. We sit and dream about sunshine and being warm.I expect you have the other extreme from what we get weather wise.Isn't it strange how one part of the world can get all the wet weather and the other half get it so hot it is unbearable. It must be hard to deal with extreme heat especially if you have a child to deal with as they get so hot and tired. When my children were small we used to sit and paint or draw or colour on paper.board games mine used to love a game of connect four, ludo.bingo ect passed the time as the rain fell down.I used to help them with their reading and story telling.Any way I expect it has cooled down a bit now.

It was pretty hot here as well so we stayed indoors and played a board game! That passed a good part of the day. Also, swimming, lemonade, and popsicles help to cool you down as well.

Yeah I agree with you. Those are all good things to do when it is hot outside. We as well have been staying indoors. When it is really hot outside it makes us feel really tired and exhausted. So it's good to stay indoors and keep cool.
