My sister gave me a new laptop!

Many of you know that my Bank account was hacked some months ago. I wanted to buy a laptop, but I decided that I would wait some months so that I could feel I had repaid my loses by being very frugal. Last week my sister came to Santiago (she lives in another city) and she brought a pentdrive with movies. My old computer did not accept it as the programs were too old. So she went "for a walk" nd came back with a laptop, her birthday present, she said, as she would not be able to come to my birthday in June. I´m starting to learn how to use it. I´m acostumed to a big computer, but hope I´ll be able to work with a small toy from now on. Do people in your family, or friends, give you incredible gifts once in a while? I feel my sister was not only generous but thoughtful, as she could see what my needs were.

My family pretty much can't afford those kinds of things for anyone else, in fact, can only afford referbs like me... however... Maggiepie was given a little laptop by a very nice friend - if I can only get the wireless router to work...

I do not think my sister can really afford this present either. She knew that I needed it, and she spent a lot more than she should have. I have discoveredthat the people who give more are not the ones who can afford it the most. She is an incredible sis.

I also think that your sister must be loving you very much to give you such a good present. I think it is always great to get laptop as gift in life.

It's great, my friend. You would work better with a laptop. It's stronger and more convenient than a desktop computer. Some our siblings are very generous and thoughtful. I wish I have enough money to buy a laptop for my sister now. She's student and she has not had one.

It seems that everything is better than my old computer, including the software. My sister has been very thoughtful and generous with me since I became a widow. She told me at the begining of her sevral ways of helping that she had never forgotten how my late husband helped her when she just got married. She makes no fuss over her help: she just does it.

That is really great! I can't say that anyone gave me something like that, but my brother did buy me a plane ticket home (using my money of course) last year so I could start my cancer treatment. He helped me get into living situations at various times and made sure I had transportation. As far as the laptop, I use both a desktop and a laptop and I am comfortable with both. I mostly use the laptop if I am going to be in the hospital or chemo but at home I mostly use the desktop. Right now the laptop is in the shop getting the keys "unstuck" because apparently someone spilled something on it at some point. I hope you enjoy your new toy! and early happy birthday!

Thanks Deb. From what you have told me, I have seen that your brother is thoughtful and loving. I don´t think it matters so much the amount spent on a present as the love it implies. I am starting to enjoy my new laptop. My granddaughter taught me to download movies there. I´m not sure I learned, but I started to download 4 movies while she was with me and they are now at my computer.

That was a really nice thing your sister did. I use to have relatives that would do something like that for me and I would also do it for them. But then my health got bad and I lost my good paying job so now my family does not have much to do with me anymore. I cannot even get a ride or even borrow a cup of sugar. They have counted me out, but little do they know I am finding new ways to make money and I will ok.

Marguicha, your sister has the right spirit. You are so fortunate to have her. I'm sure you will have a close relationship form now on. Randylovesdar...I like the idea of doing candles and soaps. I always love how they smell when I see them in stores or at the local market. I may look into doing one or both of them some time in the future.

It happened exactly the opposite to me. My sister has been very thoughtful and generous with me since I became a widow. She told me at the beginning of her several ways of helping that she had never forgotten how my late husband helped her when she just got married. She makes no fuss over her help: she just does it. She is a hard working person and is not rich at all: her help means she will not buy something for herself.

That is so sad that your family will not help you out because of your health. I know that my ever since Randy hurt his foot and is unable to work my mother wanted me to work full-time and hire a nurse. I told her that I had no intention of doing that because Randy needs me not a nurse. I am glad that you have been able to fidn ways to make money. I am hoping to be able to sell some of my craft items. I make earings and next I want to learn how to make quilts. I also make soap and want to learn how to make candles.

Hiya margi, No I have not had a really nice present in ages but I don´t really mind at the moment. Your Sister is so lovely to buy you that. I think that you will get used to the Laptop in time a question of habit I suppose. So the Bank has not paid you back at all then? Very sorry to hear that. Well I don´t know when your Birthday is but hope you have had a really good one or will have one. Enjoy your Laptop too.xxx

The Bank already told me that it would not pay anything as I did not have an insurance. As for my birthday, I had a small family gettogether on that day (June 8th) and had a party with friends the next week. i´m still eating leftovers I´m eclosing one of the pictures of my party. I had fun

Hiya margi, That is bad of them not to care at all that Bank of yours I mean. So that´s when your Birthday is then okay so you´re under the sign of Gemini. My Sister is a Gemini too. Is that the photo you put below? You all seem to be having a good time anyway and thank you for putting the photo up at least that one. Right will look for the photo when I can as it´s way too hot to sit here you see. One of the hottest Days so far and there is not any air moving at all. Happy Holidays margi.xxx

That's so sweet of her. I'm sure you'll learn to love the new toy. It may be uncomfortable at first, especially that mousepad at the lower center -- I really hated that, until now. I can't do much without the real mouse like that for a desktop PC. I'm not comfortable using the pad on the laptop, at all.

I think it is good to have laptop one's own. I am also looking forward to buy a laptop within one year. I think the good thing about the laptop is that it is easy to carry and one can carry it wherever one goes. I think the cost of laptop is a little bit high at the present time and I am waiting for the price to come down a little bit.

How lovely of your sister to give you such present! I do receive meaningful presents but nothing as expensive as that!but I can never forget when a few years back I asked my children not to give each others presents for Christmas but instead put the money together to send it to our family in my country and they were great! I Am still greatful for it!

I am blessed in many ways, alottodo. That gift was more special because she saw that I really need it and that I couldn`t easily afford it. Other people near my heart have given me incredible gifts lately. Some of them have been giving me their time to be with me when I needed them.

That is a wonderful story and the real spirit of Christmas, my friend! My sister cannt really afford such a big present, so I know she will have to make some sacrifices as buying things for herself.

I did collect many incredible gifts from my late father and my present aging mother. ha! ha! Only both of them were willing to be so kind to treat their son. One of an incredible gifts was a full set of desktop computer with a dot-matrix printer at the time when I just graduated in the year 1991. However, I do not expect to collect anymore gift from anyone since I am a father of three children now and it is my turn to give incredible gifts to my children. Of course, it is not so easy to present someone an incredible or a costly gift because I must plan earlier and to allocate certain funds for such expenses. But I am still very glad to spend such money to present someone I love very much for an incredible gift.

Both giving and recieving are good. AS for presents, they don`t have to be expensive. This present was expensive but what makes it awesome is not the money she spent on it but how thoughtful she was when thinking about my needs.

Your are a lucky lady to have such a thoughtful sister. My daughter has given me two computers over the last six years. The first was my desktop and the second was my laptop. She paid for them so unselfishly, I was very surprised and pleased to get them. I still use the desktop. My baby girl took over my laptop. She seems to think everything brought into the house is for her. It is on its last leg but she is clinging to it for dear life. Ever now and again, I get a lovely gift that is totally unexpected.

Hi marguicha, you are so lucky that you have a sympathetic sister who presented you a laptop as a birthday gift. I also work with a big computer. Recently I bought a LCD monitor. I have a desire to use a laptop. But I have no extra money in my bank account to buy a laptop. I know no brother or sister will fulfill my desire. But I don't envy you.

My sister has that kind of generosity too: she does not expect anything in return. I think that is the personality trait I admire the most and the biggest reason why I married my late husband. It´s not the money, it´s how thoughtful and loving they are
