hello friends, How many of you agree /believe that we pray to get for what we desire ? or we can put it in this way, we pray for our desires to get fulfilled. Every one desires health ,security, happiness, peace of mind in life, but very few/many fail to achieve them, friends what do you think of this, it it true that we all pray only for our needs to get fulfilled, or we just pray because we like it..please share your views....

I do pray every day without fail, although my prayers are not more than a few seconds longer. Trust me me, I have yet to ask for myself any thing from HIM despite I ask some thing every day. My one line prayer says 'thanks for giving me every thing and keeping me away from sins, I hope you would give me courage to remain the way I am and my loved ones would be happy for ever' I wish I would remain the same and never would have to ask because HE gives without asking. Thanks for your discussion.

hello friend, i strongly feel that God will be happy to hear such prayers, as he seldom gets such prayers, as most of the people are busy asking for some or the other things in life, so God will consider your prayer as a special one...

For me when i pray, it is my way of finding my inner peace... when i pray, no matter where i am i always feel blessed, calm, and at peace with myself... when i am close to crying, when i feel people's wrong doings to me coming back to me, i pray and i would suddenly forget that i feel sad, etc... Yes i do pray for things that i wish to have, i do pray to god for helping me out on my situations, i do pray to god for all the things i think i need.. and i do pray for them because i know it is with God's willingness that i will be blessed more... I know that God knows that in my heart that i have more in my heart that is not asking for material things, but is only wishing for his will to happen... i know it sounds weird, but the truth is maybe i can only understand this myself.. but a lot of times, talking to God already affirms me, confirms to me that i am not alone - and that there is someone who is going to take care of me and my needs not only for material, but also for my spiritual well being...

hi prashu, you are welcome. your discussion is really wonderful and at the time of me answering your discussion i have found the words from my heart to share with you and the other mylotters who may have read my response. We should always have that desire to pray, to pray for our desires should come secondarily.

Hi prashu, May be others or to say 99% of them pray for their own reason but I do not pray for my desire to be fulfilled. If I do so I will be selfish. And in the real of God there is no place for selfish people. Prayer should be universal or for the benefit of the larger people.

do you mean we should suffer or God should punish us to remember him?

I don't and never did. (a) god should not be like Santa Claus.. you pray if you need something and it's served to you. If you are such kind of a believer it's wrong. You better ask yourself what you really want, what YOU are willing to work for and be active.

Hi, You are right. We have so many desires in our life and these desires goes on increasing and we go on demanding God by praying him. We always demand something from God. But we don't get fully satisfied. We should pray for others also. Prayer gives us strength to fight against difficulties. We should pray god and thank God for this beautiful life.

Well that is part of it, we pray because we want something. we try to connect to god, thank him for what he gave us, and then ask what we want still (yeah, after receiving what he already gave us, we still want more). Sometimes though the desire to pray comes within us, more than thanking or asking for blessings, we pray so we can lift up our feelings to God, share our thoughts, and share our feelings, and share what our burdens are. For me, prayers are calling out to something that is bigger than us, that something that is within us that wishes to connect to that ultimate being.

A lot of people do. Even if you are praying for someone else it is out of your desire to help that person. I also think people do it because they like it. If you didn't then why would you do it?

When i pray my morning prayer, it would be in this manner ; i would always thank HIM first for the day that he is adding into my life again and for the day ahead of me. Then , I would ask for HIS guidance as me and my family go through our day. Then, i would pray for provision and other things but according to HIS will. In the evening, i would again thank HIM for the day and for all that he has given us. I would also pray for my family, friends and whoever needed to be prayed on. Then , i offer to him whatever problems i may have , for me to be enlightened on what to do the next day. Then i ask forgiveness for whatever i have done wrong. In between the whole day, i would always thank him for any good feelings that i may receive or maybe ask for his help for a difficult situation or things to be done. Let's always thank him for giving us a day again in our lives.

Prayer is a commandment and it is a way we can communicate to our Heavenly Father, We pray to our Father in Heaven about what we are doing here on earth although He knows all about it, in our prayer we must gave thanks for all that we've got here on earth and ask for things we need, specially those daily needs. we can tell Him our problems as well and discuss things how we might solve it...Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers, He answers YES, NO, or WAIT....

We do pray for what we desire. I don't often go to pagodas or temples but sometime i do pray for my family members and me: health, security, happiness..and can earn more money for living also... and i hope God bless my family and me.

People usually pray to get what they want / need but they forgot to pray for God's will to happen. What our heart desires sometimes is not what God wants for us, we should be open minded to hear the voice of God and for us to realize that we must let God rule our lives.

Everyone prays for themselves, for their family and for their loved ones. Very few will pray for others but do you know one thing; if you pray for others, your prays will be heard. I have experienced it. And, don't forget to say thank you to God for making each day special.

Hi friend, most of us are praying for our needs and necessities. Honestly if we are happy and all our needs are fulfilled, we forget about the god for a while, in fact most of us think about god in our worries, needs and necessities. We are praying to god to fulfill our desires and we will be happy if god heard our prayers and fulfilled our wishes.
