I've been vocal here on mylot about not liking facebook. I used to love it but i just gave up on it. I started facebook before it even became famous and then i just got tired of it. Though i didn't delete my account because of relatives from other countries, i hardly open my facebook and i only do when friends would tell me that i need to see something they have posted or to keep in touch with families abroad. Now here's this friend of mine who posted this on his wall: I don't add friends! Yes he is a friend of mine but i see that as arrogance. I mean, so what if you don't add friends and people add you.!What's wrong if I'm the one adding friends instead of accepting? It just made me realize how important humility is. And yes i still don't like facebook.

hi toni. first off, nice pic for the your avatar. love the sepia effect. nice shades as well. are those ray-bans? back to the discussion, i don't have a facebook account, didn't even have a friendster or myspace account back then. i don't eve have friends so i'm not a big fan of social networking sites. facebook is way overrated!!! my only interest in facebook is their ipo offering last month. the price for a facebook share didn't hold up and dropped like a hot potato. anyway, i have nothing against people who live and breath facebook. not just my cup of tea. as for your friend, it is kinda arrogant but hey, he has a goddess friend in you so if that makes him a god/demi-god, he has the right to not add mere mortals to his facebook account. lol! cheers and happy mylotting!!!

hmmm... oakley is a nice brand. got a pair that i use now that i've basically worn out. looking at getting it refurbished but no one offers that service here in manila so looking at possible substitutes. might go to a car servicing shop or those print your own shirt shops that use air brush. anyway, if i'll rule next to you, i'd never be sweet lest i want you to walk all over me. lol! i'd volunteer and be contented to be your trusted adviser though.

Love you, as always dear Allen! By the way, it's not a rayban, It's an oakley. My friend is the god of all gods! That's how he sees himself. Let him rule facebook, i'm gonna rule earth. Would you be sweet and rule it next to me?

That's one arrogant friend you got there. I mean, really? Wow! Your friend has got a lot of guts posting something like that on his wall. Is he/she some kind of a celebrity that he's too busy to add friends or anyone else on her account? Maybe someone is pestering him or her about not adding friends or even accepting any friend requests. Still, that's out of line. I used to really like Facebook too. I loved it when people were just into games and making a social network. But now, everyone seems to have the right to shout out whatever they're thinking or even what's happening in their lives and think that whatever they think or do is so special and so important and that actually disgusts me.

Just like you said! I really hate it when some of my friends would be posting wall to wall with topics that can actually be made through private messaging and would be posting harsh and negative statuses that may or may not concern others. Sometimes, I really think that they feel that they are the center of the whole Facebook world, where in fact, it's not the proper etiquette when it comes to the whole social networking world.

I am sick of people sharing every second of everyday on facebook. They take pictures of breakfast, lunch and dinner then a pic of the sunset and on and on... Then they check in at every place they are at from the store to work to the bar to HOME!!! You really need to check in saying you are at home??? Whew... sorry to vent but I am sick of Facebook too lol

Welcome to the club! That's why i don't read my timeline anymore. I post pics as a hobby but i don't have to open facebook to do that. I have applications on my phones that post pics directly to facebook or twitter without opening the homepage. Boy i'm so glad i could do that.

What is face book? Ok, I am joking but listen toniganzon seriously, I have never used facebook, should I? Guess I'll never meet this guy then. I can see a reason for joining because it is popular and maybe a way to keep you in touch with close ones but it sounds to me there is a lot of game playing like you just meantioned going on. I have seen a documentory on TV where these people were discussing internet useage. This one guy being interviewed said he was on his computer ten or twelve hours daily and had something like 2000 friends or something on Face Book. Why am I not impressed?

Hi toniganzon! You are right, that sounds arrogant. And yeah, why would he say that? If he don't like adding friends, then don't. Why does he have to say that? Now I am curious, did anybody commented on his post? Haha I just had a funny thought, maybe he meant, "I don't know how to add friends" Good day!

I don't get it personally. Does he mean he doesn't add his real friends to his page? Does he mean he has no need to add people, because people add him or does he mean he has enough friends on his Facebook and he does not wish to add more?

It means he's too popular he doesn't add friends people add him which to me is arrogance. He doesn't have to shout it to the whole world. Yeah he's popular so what. If you're popular you don't proclaim it on your own. I guess he's just full of himself.

It never seems to amaze me how people become arrogant over the dumbest things. I remember when I was a kid and went to day care. They had one fork that had a diamond shape in it, and we use to brag about who got the diamond fork. I was 4 years old then. I guess some people never grow up.

I was on Facebook briefly and what seemed like a decent thing, rather soured on it rather quickly. Plus I realized, that pretty much all of the people that I did lose touch with, about I would have to say eighty to eighty five percent of them, I lost touch of them for a rather good reason. And really, bless them, but they can be frustrating. So much drama right on Facebook, and obviously, it just gives them a license to be utterly uptight and kind of rude about a lot of things. There are just a lot of people who get all up and arms about things that happen on Facebook. I mean seriously, this is worth losing your mind over. And your situation, it seems so absurd that someone would say that, but given the past behavior of a lot of people on Facebook, not that surprising.

Hi toni I dont know why but FB has been misused a million times by millions. I have no issues with the site though I dont exist on it as a regular guest. This friend of yours might have some problems with the ones he added up and so out of frustration he vented out... His personal choice though... Personally, I dont like that type of attitude and you rightly say - we all should be humble. But reading this discussion to frame an opinion on my part, would be wrong as I dont know what lead him post such a message on his wall. ps. like you I too dont like fb only because of its misuse.

That was arrogant of your friend. He could have set his FB account as private so only his selected friends can see it or ask to be added as his friend.

Well, dear friend Toniganzon, on this point, I almost agree with you. In fact I would not call myself a Facebook-addict! I consult the social network world number 1, just to see some posts of friends and acquaintances and, above all to play for free, just a two browser game. I have a friend that he lives on Facebook, it feels almost "daily bread" (as I do a little instead here on of Mylot). I do not understand all the interest in a site that not even pays the post! Facebook, however, remains, Facebook, no one takes the record in the world! I say this for mutual respect.

When facebook was starting i was addicted to it. There were no games yet except those we send to our friends gifts that are cute and vampire something that i have forgotten. I got addicted to facebook as well but realized that i'm wasting my time on that. When everybody got hooked, i saw how my friends are fighting there, throwing not so good words to each other, bragging here and there! I just couldn't stand it anymore i have to cut myself away from facebook and so i did.

I joined facebook since it just warm born also and now rarely i connect to facebook also. Sometime i just get in there 5-10 mins to see what is going on or update my photos only. I think facebook is good site to keep in touch with your friends and family abroad. Just leave it in there and sometime you can connect to it to update information from them.I think it does not harm. About your friend case...i think it is a bit crazy when he posted like that. However, better just ignore him and his status also...

Can I just share what's on my mind upon reading your post?? I just can feel that you're too guilty about it. Is your friend referring to you about adding friends instead of accepting?? Cool down. Don't easily react on the posts you are seeing. Now if you're guilty about it then maybe it's not your friend's problem anymore. Please don't get me wrong. This is only for my own opinion. I am not against you either. I am not that active on facebook too. I just realized that I want to have a private life. So, I don't usually post statuses there. I don't even change my profile picture based on the latest me. I am thinking that I could even PM my family, relatives and friends if I want to see them personally.

You got it wrong. I don't feel guilty. Why should I? First of all he wasn't referring to me. Secondly, since i'm not on facebook i don't add friends nor have i added relatives. They add me don't add them. And i'm not saying this out of arrogance. That's why i didn't write it on my wall. And trust me, i'm a very cool person. Not complaining, just stating a point. And i can't understand why you would say i'm guilty either. What makes you think that i am? And no i'm not taking this against you. I'm not that kind of person at all. All i'm saying is why would someone shout it to the whole world that they don't add friends? It's like he wanted to tell everybody that hey i'm better than you so i don't add friends at all so don't expect me to add you. Now do you understand what i mean with that discussion? And what i wrote there about me adding as friends is just merely stating a point.
• Philippines
2 Jun 12
Hmm.. don't get me wrong again. What I could react on your comment is that, look.. What if that person too is stating a point as you are. Now, let's take that statement of yours, tell me, would you not feel sad if someone misunderstood what you have just posted?? Stating that you don't add friends and merely accepting them, can also make me feel that you are wanting those people who could read your statement to know how better or cool you are because you don't add friends at all. If he was not referring to you, so why would you react that way?? He may have posted it out of arrogance, too. Right?? This is just what I want to convey. Different reactions and perspectives could come from various people who could read discussions from you. So don't expect that all of them will only react the same as you are or the way you wanted them to react. Just be sensitive to what others could feel from the statement you are posting. Hey, I am just sharing my own opinion. Please don't take this seriously.

How could i misunderstood someone whom i know pretty clearly? And in the first place i told you i didn't go about posting those on my wall. I'm just telling you that as an example and i told you what i really do. That's why i don't go about telling it as i don't want to be misunderstood as arrogant. And i've been here on mylot long enough not to take opposing opinion. But then again, open your eyes more first before judging.

hi toniganzon! i think facebook has it's uses, such as i can communicate with my family and friends that live far away. but i think you are right in one sense about your friends, no one should turn friendship away, it is a gift, even in the facebook or mylot world! of course, i think one should be careful not to accept friends if you don't know them or feel apprehensive about them or their motives...but such is life....

I have to agree with you. Facebook is a big popularity contest! Everyone has like 800 friends on their and come on... You dont personally know 800 people when you are 13! They just add random people to seem popular. And when people say they dont add friends I think thats cheesy. Personally I add alot of my friends myself.. A lot of people on their just want to seem cool and all high and mighty. I think its pretty annoying as well. My favorite is when people hashtag stuff like on twitter. Come on, wrong site.

Yeah people say things but i see that i'm learning more in twitter than on facebook. Anyway, you're right! It's pretty annoying when people there act high and mighty.

I go through my times of being on FB so often. Its a nice way to see so many interesting things. But then there are times when I am so bored and have absolutely no interest in what I see on the page. Most of the time I am posting and reading in my poetry groups and looking at pictures.

I got tired of facebook now my account is deleted. One of the reason as well is because I don't like people posting in my wall with hateful messages, you know messages that should be "personal" between families only but there are people who don't know what "respect" means. Anyway your friend seems to have a world of his own and he thinks that he's that important I just hope he won't end up waking one day and nobody wants to add him and he'll stare on his facebook account waiting for someone to add him.

Maybe your friend have a lot of friends, and he wants no to add anyone more. Actually it's impossible to communicate with all your friends. There are people who have hundreds of friends. And I wonder how they can interact with any of them, unless you have ein autoresponder or a cyber robot that does this work for you.

AS of right now...let him be,,,Don't feed into is issues...I am sure you have your own issues that are much more important... I don't even feel bad in the first place so why should i feel better now? I'm okay with it and i hardly visit fb. I'm just writing it here for the sake of discussion and nothing else. Don't get me wrong but i'm not the kind of person you are talking about. I don't dislike him. I dislike what he posted. And i haven't even given him the day coz if i did i would have commented on his fb wall. But that's not me and i'm here for the sake of discussion. Not to cool down coz i'm raging mad. Now if i have given you that impression, i'm sorry.
