Can't Sleep

It's one of those nights when I can't sleep, so I'm here at the 'Lot... I sure wish they'd get things sorted out so that notifications would go out. I check under Discussions: Friends Started, but it's getting downright tedious, especially as no one seems to be answering posts made to their discussions. When I checked my email before coming here, I had 16 new messages -- all of them spam. I miss getting my myLot notifications. I'd ask if anyone else does too, but I wouldn't want anyone to think I was conducting a poll, so I'll just ask what YOU do when you can't sleep.

My notifications of new discussions come through just fine. That's how I came to this one :) My bugbear is not hearing about responses to responses. So I respond to a comment that's been left on my discussion, but don't get notified if you respond a second time. It can hardly be called a discussion if one party doesn't respond because they didn't realised proper discussion had started! But as you weren't asking that, I'll tell you that I just desperately try to continue sleeping! I drop like a stone when my head hits the pillow, but tend to wake up in the early hours and lie there, and lie there, and lie there. But just lying there is more restful than getting up, so I tend to stay put. If I really can't stand the inactivity any longer then I would stick the computer on, like you.

Yes, well, I wouldn't want to deprive her of any of her 16 hours a day of sleep.

I really do not have a problem with getting to sleep, but I think I may know some things that might help you. I do not like the idea of using medication, but in my experience Motrin is quite effective. I would not use Motrin unless your doctor says that it is safe for you. The use of Motrin is under a conditional situation. For instance, you are in pain, and can't rest very well because of it. Motrin is a good pain reliever, and knocks me out. I would also recommend a turkey sandwich, heavy on the turkey and/or red tea.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of that stuff. I did take some Tylenol because my bones were aching, but it still didn't help me sleep.

Sorry to hear that. Warm milk perhaps.

Don't have that, either. But I did go back to bed at 3:30 and fell asleep with no more trouble.

Hi! i also experience that once in a while and i also keep myself busy with mylot and facebook. If still i cannot fall asleep,i get up and fix my cabinet, or clean my bedroom, the corners where i don't usually clean. This is very effective with me, because i get tired and i fall asleep easily.

I am responding to a notification that you had posted this. Did your notification settings maybe get changed by some ghost? The oddest things have been happening on a variety of sites. But I'm getting my notifications. I try not to go to bed until I get sleepy -- even it its late. If I get to bed and still can't sleep, I may read until my eyes won't focus anymore or my eyelids get heavy. If I still can't sleep, I pray, figuring the devil will put me to sleep if I'm trying to pray. I usually put my rain sounds (all natural, no music) on and that normally relaxes me enough to sleep. Hmm. My eyelids seem to want to close already.

I was sleepy -- that's why I went to bed. But certain thoughts kept churning in my head. Usually, trying to mentally spend a million dollars will put me out, but I couldn't focus on that. I did check my notification settings, and they seem to be set properly, so I don't know what's going on there.

I do mylotting too whenever i can't sleep. However, sometimes being at Mylot tires my brain, because we cannot just answer yes or no here. One thing that i discovered can lull me to sleep is listening to sweet music through my earphone, in the music player of my cellphone. Or sometimes, i read passages in the bible with my side table lampshade.

I sometimes listen to music, too, but it doesn't always help.

It frequently happens to me, I mean the notifications,More so the response to my responses. At that point,I kind of felt I was left in the cold. However when I got into My activity on my mylot profile,I found out many my mylot friends had replied to my responses,I never came anywhere near to knowing those.Sometimes If I have sleep disorder,I simply get up and read something until I am somewhat sleepy.

Well, when I can not sleep, I tend to try to listen to music, or look on the internet to try to make myself tired.I find that if I go to bed and can not get to sleep, it makes me more anxious and then its morning and I have had no sleep.I also take a sleeping pill in the hope that it will work and that do not seem to help.

I usually get online or watch t.v. when I can't sleep. I get notifications that discussions have been started, and I have AOL. I get it in my inbox instead of in my mylot folder anymore, but then again I've not checked my mylot folder in who knows how long.

Well, I was being tortured by a bout of Restless Leg Syndrome at the same time, so it was impossible to just lie there.

I use to play game, like pc game when I can't sleep, or I watch video on the internet, until I feel sleepy. Then I turn off my computer, and pray till I sleep.

I find being on the internet and writing now puts me to sleep lol. I still have to do the writing for different sites, but I don't do as much anymore. I have burnt out.

Yeah, being here in the middle of the night seemed to do the trick. I went back to bed at 3:30 and finally fell asleep easily.
