You all were definitely right that it wasn't going to be something that was going to be easy. However, I do have to say that at this point in time, I do think that things are getting better with my husband's addiction problems. Financially we are not where I had hoped that we would be by this point in time because of the fact that we've had some other financial issues that have come up. However, I do think that each month is going to get a little bit better than the month before it was. Emotionally, I do think that our relationship is starting to get back to the place that it used to be before all of this took place. Tom is spending more time with the kids and I and he has actually been to two of Paul's baseball games this year and seemed to enjoy himself. Last month his physician put him on two addition medications for depression and anxiety and it seems to me that those medications are really making a difference for him. He is able to sleep now and he seems to have a much better outlook on life. I thought that you all would like to know how things are going in my relationship and I hope that everything that is going on your life is going as you hoped that it would be going as well.

I'm really happy that the meds are working for him as well. He really is becoming the person that I fell in love with ten and a half years ago again and it makes me such a happy woman.

thats so wonderful news. You had a very stressful time helping him battle cancer and I hope things will be much better for you in the future.

Glad to hear that things are going better. Even though they are not as Good as you hoped they would be, as long as they keep on moving forward. that is a definate plus. It does take time to get things back where you really want them but each day getting closer is a step in the right direction. Wishing you the Best.

You are right that each day that he is doing well is a step in the right direction. I can't wait until we really are again the family that we used to be, but I also know that is something that is going to take a lot more time.

I am so glad you let us know that things are getting better. This is one of the great things about this site, you can vent about a problem and get advice and then come back to report how things worked out and find you still have support if needed. Blessings

You are absolutely right. I really do think that is one of my favorite things about this site. There have been a bunch of things that I've been through since I've been a member here that I don't know if I would have been able to get through without the love and support that I've found here.

Oh, that's great news! So glad the intervention has worked out - I don't doubt it was difficult - but certainly worth it - look at the results!! Financial things always seem to come . . . but that part you know will work itself out somehow. The best thing is the family unit is back in place and when you can stick together no matter what, things will always come through. Best of luck for continued success with the intervention!

It really is the news that I really looked forward to being able to share. As time goes on, I really do think that the financial situation is going to get a lot better. However, if it doesn't that won't be something that we won't be able to overcome one way or another.

I am glad that things are better at home. Doesn't your husband also have cancer? That might be responsible for other problems. I hope that things continue to look up. As an insomniac, I can tell you that life is a lot better when I sleep than when I do not. Reminder, that this Saturday is The Belmont. Go, I'll Have Another!

Good to hear of the process. It takes time, and it must be hard for him as well as everyone else. I do hope it works out and keep us updated on the process.

It does take time and it takes a lot of patience as well. But, I am the kind of person that is willing to dedicate the time and love to him getting better that it is going to take.

I'm super glad that things are working out as well. Even better than the fact that he is finally getting through life without wasting money and without the level of dependence, is the fact that he found out on Friday that he is totally cancer free right now.

I am glad that things are starting to get better and that he is spending more time with you and the kids. I know that your not where you are financially, but that will come in time. I know that you do spend time online making some extra cash and I am sure that helps out as well. I am glad that Tom is on better medications that are helping him sleep better. I hope things are better for you as well.

I can honestly only wish that I was able to make more extra money online than just the little bit that I'm able to earn here and there. But, still, I know that those little bits do help out a lot. As far as trying to stretch my pennies this month goes, there are a few pharmacies in the area that are offering $20 in food or general merchandise credit for a new or transferred prescription. Tom's anxiety medications are due to be refilled this week, so I will be transferring them to help us defray some expenses. Plus, I'm trying to up my online earning as well.

I am quite thankful for the fact that we've been able to get through this obstacle in our relationship and I know that if we are able to get through all of this, I really don't think that there is anything that we won't be able to get over in our relationship.

Glad to hear all is better, I always like a success story. Addictions are hard battles, good thing he has you by his side through all this. God Bless and I hope that the Great Spirit guides you both to getting back to a functional healthy relationship.

One of the things that I have most recently come to understand is the fact that this is a battle that will never actually be over for him and for our entire family for that matter. But the progress that has been made in the last couple of months is the best progress that I could have expected.
